- How to use one ratchet strap, and a set of ROK Straps to mount a set of Maxtrax MKII's (or any brand of traction boards) to any spare tire on a 4x4. This mounting solution is compatible with rear view cameras and rear proximity sensors, and doesn't block the driver's view. An inexpensive, light weight, and effective way to mount traction boards to the rear of your 4WD.
I've used Rok straps for years- how did I not think of this simple solution. Thanks for sharing. cheers
You're welcome! 👍😎 Have a good one!
Great video! Love this mounting solution! It’s nice because it’s easy to take off when not needed! Thanks!
Welcome! Glad it helped! 👍😎
I finally got everything together for this and it works great! I also have a small shovel on the tire. It works great!
It's a simple, effective, and inexpensive way to mount Maxtrax to your spare tire, that doesn't block the rear view camera or sensors. Hope you find this useful! 👍😎
Killer solution!

Did you sew the ratchet gaurd in? I dont see an option at custom strap site.
It came that way, this is the one I bought, #8328 on their site, in the 10 ft. length for my 35 inch tire: customtiedowns.com/search.php?q=8328
Looks cool. Any chance that wind drag on boards rips off the ratchet strap from the tire?
Not much chance of it unless the ratchet strap wasn't tightened. I've had this up over 70+ mph and it doesn't even budge. There isn't hardly any drag at all created by the boards back there, and the strap has a ton of tension on the tire. However, if it was still a concern, one could add another strap through the wheel and over the tire and strap to retain it in the scenario that the ratchet strap came really loose (unlikely).
Have you had any divets made on your tire's sidewall from the pressure of the boards on them? Those little cleats look like high psi spots.
No, never had any issues with that.
