Amazing lesson. I’ve been working on embouchure vibrato for months and have hit a plateau. This lesson gives me something specific to pinpoint to improve. Thank you.

I like your presentation. What you call the choke vibrato, my dad, who played chromatic on the Vaudeville stage in the 1930s, said the harmonica players called violin vibrato... no doubt because it can be so sweet. I have different takes on lots of teaching ideas that are taught on the web, harp wise. My theory on "altered notes" -- i.e., all the notes that are not the pitches of the two stock reeds in each hole -- is that these notes are the result of sympathetic vibration with vowel formants. Formants are constituent pitches within the vowel that give a vowel its specific vowel quality. An academic paper was given in 2014 -- harmonicanavigation.com/formantAnalysis.pdf -- I am acknowledged as the originator of the theory in section 5 -- and I provided the audio samples.

Carlos, Thank you for making the time to make these instructional videos. I have just learned of your channel and website tonight and subscribed. This instructional video on vibrato will definitely help me to be a better harmonica player.

Your videos really help, thank you. What's with the dots (holes?) on the cover plate?

was just an experiment to see if i could open up the sound of a Golden Melody, I do open up the sides of the cover plate with a grinder on the end of drill to open up the sound. As well as folding back the backs of the cover plate to let the air get out more easily similar to a Marine Band.

I fold mine back too. Did it work?
