There a few albums this year, this being one of them, that are putting US black metal on the map. Not Finlands level, but US is making moves.
US black metal has been top notch for the last 15 years, son! Don't call it a comeback...

You're right. Raspy vocals, melancolic riffs, some very simple mid tempos. Had a Sacramentum flavour to it.
