Honestly I'd say climb as a soldier is top teir. He's loyal, diligent, and doesn't shy away from a fight even in the presence of a mountain as he is a pebble. And keeping in that analogy I think ainz honored this aspect ainz being a king faced climb head on and in doing so honored the soldier that climb is. Now ofc he is very lacking as a warrior in skill and talent but as a soldier I think climb is the ideal.
I like how Ainz told climb that if he was the MC of a novel that he will suddenly get a mysterious power and kill him and save the princess. But in the end, its him that was killed. That's why I love Overlord as you get this twisted reality from your typical shonen manga. Well i hate to be that guy, but Climb is still a soldier, a very young soldier, specifically trained to serve the King. At the end of the day, his life, for better or worse is always depend on how much competence his king would be. And knowing Gown, his life would surely get better under him (wether he likes it or not).
Yes, that's what consoles me about Climb's fate. He's horrified for now, but I think he'll eventually see Ainz is a worthy king, and he'll also notice Renner is happier than before. If someday he finds out Renner betrayed her kingdom, it might be after they've reached a point when he can forgive her.
I believe that this is the best end for Climb tbh. Climb was a street rat and he barely had any friends (Gazef and Brain appeared later in his life and were more of mentors rather than buddies, the Blue Roses were Renner’s friends to be more precise), and because of his bg and Renner he was looked down by most ppl in the palace. He somewhat cares about the kingdom and the people but it was more because of Renner and because he has a good heart, but I don’t think he’s that attached to them since he probably already prepared to move to wherever Renner would be when she got married off. Gazef and Brain died gloriously as warriors in wars, so I don’t think he will hold the grudge against Nazarick for too long, especially since now he will likely meet and train with cool ppl like Sebas, Cocytus, the Lizardmen, etc., and his beloved princess can shine more brightly than ever because Nazarick actually values her talent, unlike her ex kingdom and family
He looks at Mare, immediately remembers Renner telling him to come back safely, and goes "Yeah, I'm absolutely not coming back safely if I fight this elf."

I agree that Shun is really boring for his role in the WN. He feels like (and is, especially in strength) a low tier side character but gets a full isekai protagonist arc. I think Climb is a very different character though. Shun has issues with indecisiveness and kindness in battle while Climb is mostly just blind to Renner's true nature.
The only differnce between the two is how likeable Climb is compared to thard lowest tier trash hero Shun, I don't have any problem reading Climb's parts in novel, while I would be not giving a fck about Shun skipping every chapter that focused on him on Novel and would be pissed to have a full panel or episode of him in both Anime/Manga. tl;dr Climb is a likeable. Shun you don't really have to pay attention to that dumb fck.

His Level cap is lifted, so he can achieve his goal of surpassing Brain and Gazef, he’s immortal, he gets his Princess, and he even gets to serve alongside his old friend Sebas. All in all, Climb lost the battle, but won the war. And toy isn’t quite the right term. Renner is supposed to be a portrayal of a very high functioning but emotionally abused autistic person. That whole making expressions in the mirror thing wouldn’t have been needed for a true sociopath. Climb is likely closer to a “focus”. A passion. An obsession. While his dog like loyalty and dedication may have been what won her affections, even comparing him to a pet is likely not correct. To Renner, Climb is her “axiom” the thing her impossibly complicated mind has chooses to latch onto. Some with her circumstance choose a field of study. Others a specific skill to master. Still others more esoteric pursuits. Renner’s brain latched onto the first person to look at her with unwavering love and admiration. While certainly twisted, I still believe her affections have something of poetry in them. XD

I started the manga, but I could not get into it because I don't get Ainz. What's his problem? He is supposed to be some sort of anti hero playing the villain but he goes out of his way to do actual evil.
One thing I noticed in this fight and the one between Ainz and Gazef is that it is hinted at that the sword they both wield can depending on the wielder kill Ainz and destroy a world item. Possible spoiler if I am right about this. I believe that at the end of the series or a possible spin off after Ainz takes over the world a hero will rise to stop him since this story screams the rise of a main villain for a hero to defeat. I also believe that this said hero will acquire this sword and use to save the world and defeat Ainz. I find it hard to believe that the creator would emphasis the potential of a sword and just have it be used on EXTREMLY one sided fights. Now this is just a theory of mine so I could be wrong.

Well i hate to be that guy, but Climb is still a soldier, a very young soldier, specifically trained to serve the King. At the end of the day, his life, for better or worse is always depend on how much competence his king would be. And knowing Gown, his life would surely get better under him (wether he likes it or not).
Yes, that's what consoles me about Climb's fate. He's horrified for now, but I think he'll eventually see Ainz is a worthy king, and he'll also notice Renner is happier than before. If someday he finds out Renner betrayed her kingdom, it might be after they've reached a point when he can forgive her.
I believe that this is the best end for Climb tbh. Climb was a street rat and he barely had any friends (Gazef and Brain appeared later in his life and were more of mentors rather than buddies, the Blue Roses were Renner’s friends to be more precise), and because of his bg and Renner he was looked down by most ppl in the palace. He somewhat cares about the kingdom and the people but it was more because of Renner and because he has a good heart, but I don’t think he’s that attached to them since he probably already prepared to move to wherever Renner would be when she got married off.
Gazef and Brain died gloriously as warriors in wars, so I don’t think he will hold the grudge against Nazarick for too long, especially since now he will likely meet and train with cool ppl like Sebas, Cocytus, the Lizardmen, etc., and his beloved princess can shine more brightly than ever because Nazarick actually values her talent, unlike her ex kingdom and family

Climb reminds me of that hero kid from Kumo Desu Ga, but much more likeable
I agree that Shun is really boring for his role in the WN. He feels like (and is, especially in strength) a low tier side character but gets a full isekai protagonist arc.
I think Climb is a very different character though. Shun has issues with indecisiveness and kindness in battle while Climb is mostly just blind to Renner's true nature.
The only differnce between the two is how likeable Climb is compared to thard lowest tier trash hero Shun, I don't have any problem reading Climb's parts in novel, while I would be not giving a fck about Shun skipping every chapter that focused on him on Novel and would be pissed to have a full panel or episode of him in both Anime/Manga.
tl;dr Climb is a likeable. Shun you don't really have to pay attention to that dumb fck.

I don’t know why you’d pity him at all.
His Level cap is lifted, so he can achieve his goal of surpassing Brain and Gazef, he’s immortal, he gets his Princess, and he even gets to serve alongside his old friend Sebas.
All in all, Climb lost the battle, but won the war.
And toy isn’t quite the right term. Renner is supposed to be a portrayal of a very high functioning but emotionally abused autistic person. That whole making expressions in the mirror thing wouldn’t have been needed for a true sociopath.
Climb is likely closer to a “focus”. A passion. An obsession.
While his dog like loyalty and dedication may have been what won her affections, even comparing him to a pet is likely not correct.
To Renner, Climb is her “axiom” the thing her impossibly complicated mind has chooses to latch onto. Some with her circumstance choose a field of study. Others a specific skill to master. Still others more esoteric pursuits.
Renner’s brain latched onto the first person to look at her with unwavering love and admiration.
While certainly twisted, I still believe her affections have something of poetry in them. XD

Too bad for Climb, Ainz' power of Friendship and Love is valid with no BS, not some Isekai/Shonen Anime where MC is getting bodied hard by Antagonist and the MC would just think of all the fun and happy times with his family and friends would get instant BS power up.
I started the manga, but I could not get into it because I don't get Ainz. What's his problem? He is supposed to be some sort of anti hero playing the villain but he goes out of his way to do actual evil.

One thing I noticed in this fight and the one between Ainz and Gazef is that it is hinted at that the sword they both wield can depending on the wielder kill Ainz and destroy a world item. Possible spoiler if I am right about this.
I believe that at the end of the series or a possible spin off after Ainz takes over the world a hero will rise to stop him since this story screams the rise of a main villain for a hero to defeat. I also believe that this said hero will acquire this sword and use to save the world and defeat Ainz. I find it hard to believe that the creator would emphasis the potential of a sword and just have it be used on EXTREMLY one sided fights. Now this is just a theory of mine so I could be wrong.
