Eleven years ago, I watched that video for the first time. Since then, I return to it from time to time and watch it with the same smile on my face as the first time.
Yes I use the GoPro cameras. That shot at 0:18 is one of my favorite also. Made the crane look like a toy helicopter so I had the Crew Chief walk up and down the gear leg to give a little perspective. Thanks for watching im glad you enjoyed the video.
This is an AWESOME video thanks Earl for sharing. Kudos on finishing with Creedence's "Run Through the Jungle". No helicopter video would be complete with this iconic band in the soundtrack!
Badass video pardner. I fell timber for Columbia for 7 years so I got to see, and appreciate heavy lift helicopters. Question...at 6:04 the video shows a guy sitting behind the pilot facing the tail rotor. He is surrounded by glass. What is his job?
Awesome motivation! Keep that attitude and you will fly one day! :) My mother always told me if you want something bad enough You'll always find a way! Good Luck! Keep us posted
Very nice skill and video about the Job brother; I was there same area between 2005 and 2010 for previous seismics on squirrels. missing now long line and Peru, cheers
Seriously cool video. As an Oregon native (and a helicopter pilot) I have a soft spot in my heart for Erickson. :) Thanks for posting. Great editing and sweet music track.
excellent marvellous even enginenoise nice ( normal copters engine noise annoying ) workers spirit very high verybest sample video for other job doers incomparable video
I used the black flat plastic piece that comes in the display case when you buy the go pro. Drilled holes in it to match up with the inspection panel on the Pylon of the tail and bolted it on. I used the suction cup only in the cockpit shots. I used the roll bar mount for the gear leg and stinger shot and the bicycle seat post mount for the engine and hydraulic sled shot looking back. Just get creative but make sure its a solid mount. :)
Earl Watters Yea, when I lived in Panama, during a three day jungle ride, I slept in the back of my FJ40. Cramped, buggy, and humid as hell. Loved every minute of it. ;-)
This s very inspirational! Really makes me want to get a rotary-wing certification. How long did it take you and how many hours before you could fly these air cranes?
Earl, what's your favorite helicopter? Have you flown any Bell products 205,212, 412 if so how do they stack up against their competitors? Great videos and thank you for sharing!
+Mark Holing Flown the 205,212 and 206. Love Bell Helicopters. The Super 205 is my favorite to fly Great Machine! Safe and very versatile! There are several Videos on my channel flying the 205. Here is my favorite. ua-cam.com/video/walsXvsVsek/v-deo.html
Great video! What's the vapor blowing on the pilots at 3:38? Is that some sort of cabin AC? If so, why is it visible? Seems like I only see that in helicopter videos.
IRT Deadliest roads worked 7 weeks in Lapaz Bolivia then they went 7 weeks to Peru..In 2010 we went to India...and then i did season 5 of Ice Road Truckers in Alaska..
Really not an hour requirement to fly the Crane. Just need to be type rated in the crane to be PIC. There is a minimum hour requirement to be hired at Erickson. Have to have a check ride with the FAA to get your type rating. Need to know the helicopter inside and out to pass your type ride.
I took pictures of " Goliath " at North Las Vegas airport, right around that time. Stood right underneath it. 20,000 lb rating plate on it. One of my favorite highlights in life. Enough with the goof stuff.
No I wasn't Prior military All civilian Trained. However I did work for the Army as a Civilian Instructor Pilot at FT Rucker teaching military Pilots how to fly
Oh ok. Cool! I used to fix Army helicopters. Still wondering about getting my pilots license. I don't think there are too many things cooler than helicopters.
Earl, I keep trying to PM you, but stupid youtube won't send the message. Can you PM me please? I would like to ask you some questions about Erickson "offline". Thanks

Erickson was a good customer of mine in the 70-80-90's. Jack E. and my dad Jack were friends. Great company.
10 years ago, and still Awesome . . .
Thanks buddy 👍👍
Now this is a company with a CAN DO ATTITUDE. Excellent video,5 stars !

Sad thing is Deadmaus is one of the better ones.

Great video, loved all the different views. That is an awesome airfare, fly safe.
Thank You! Good luck with your career! If you want it bad enough it will happen!
Why do nearly all videos of the Erickson skycranes get blown up with horrible loud music?
This is by far the best Erickson video I have watched yet!
Seriously cool video. As an Oregon native (and a helicopter pilot) I have a soft spot in my heart for Erickson. :) Thanks for posting. Great editing and sweet music track.
great footage.music has somewhat to be desired however
Ashley Jenkins. You obviously don't know quality music, when you hear it! Probably a millennial rapper, no taste!
@@bebo5558 sorry my kids get on here i Havent even watched the video. Blame voice to text and a 4 year old or 7 year old

Thank You for the great compliment! :) glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video I'm sure this takes a lot of skill to do this!
Nice Earl, Hope all is well Brother.... !
I spent 8 years on the CH-54 Sky Crane as a mechanic crew chief. I trusted them.
They’re a great aircraft
Wow, what a big beast, I've never seen one in person. Looked like a fun gig though.
It is a big helicopter and fun to fly! The time in Peru working was great! Camp life sucks though….ha ha ha

These camera shots were spectacular! my favorite was at 0:18. Did you use a gopro?
How did you mount the Go Pro @ 3:27 (along with all the other tail shots)? Did you just use the regular suction cup mount from them??
Have you flown through the Peruvian jungle?
I took pictures of " Goliath " at North Las Vegas airport, right around that time. Stood right underneath it. 20,000 lb rating plate on it. One of my favorite highlights in life. Enough with the goof stuff.
Also, six years, Grants Pass, 1984----90.
What happened to the videos Earl? Still flying?
Josh Sager yes I’ve been real busy. I’m Capturing Elk right now and working on a new video. It will be good
Awesome can’t wait!

Cool!
You just can't resist ruining your helicopter videos with music.
How did the crane get to Peru ?
Ship it or fly it ??
