    Your reviews are among the best I've found on any topic, useful information, professional presentation, useful examples, and some humor, too. Now for my questions... :)
    You can operate the camera from an external power source, but if it disconnects, the camera switches off immediately, correct? Can I assume the choice is external mic or external power but not both?
    I plan to use the camera on my motorcycle helmet, with a remote power supply. How water-resistant is the camera without its housing?
    Finally, how much of the "light show" can I turn off while shooting? Obviously the LCD panels are power hogs, but even LED's, over time, can nibble away at battery charge.

      Thanks for your compliments, I'm glad you like my videos.
      Answers:
      Question 1 - Correct
      Question 2 - Correct assumption.
      Question 3 - Without housing its on nature's mercy. I took the camera apart and there is no seal or lining inside. Bare plastic held by arrow locks.
      Question 4 - The main LCD can be turned off at a given time, but not much else. If you turn Gyro off that will help aswell, but such a compromise may be too much to ask for. Unless they updated firmware and added this feature leds will blinkity blink away.
      All the best.

      @RBEmerson 7 років тому

      The front LCD panel can't be switched off? The external battery has about 50,000 mAH(!), NTL the more power I can save, the happier I'll be. Also, blinking lights make EU/Swiss border crossings a problem (Swiss & German customs don't like being videoed).
      I currently have a Sena Prism (1080@60, only 1080@30), that I can literally run all day (BTDT), and I plan to do that with the SJ6. The Prism shoots a file about 4G over 45-50 minutes and then starts a new file. My editor says they don't so much as lose one frame. Have you run the SJ6 long enough to see how large any one file can become and what happens after that?
      Have you tried a 128G chip? There's an easy hack to format a 128G FAT32 SD (BTDT w/ 64G for the Prism; it won't use 128G - it goes back to 32G max on a larger SD).

    The biggest problem with this camera is the dynamic range. It can be somewhat fixed with a video editing program after but it's still hard.

    Very nice review - one of the best I've ever seen. The only question is about the external mic. It seems to be very low quality - means only recording high frequencies. Your voice sounded very different with the external mic. Would you agree? Thanks.

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому

      I would agree. The mic provided by SJCAM has a limit to its performance. Consider the price. Sure, there can be much better mic, just costs more.

    Thanks for the review Salesberg. I am debating on whether to get the SJ6 Legend or SJ7 Star. What I've seen so far, SJ7 gyro is not as smooth as the SJ6, though SJ7 video quality and colour representation is much better . Have you experienced any heating issues with the SJ7? In your SJ7 review, you also pointed out about the frame wehre it wouldn't fit - was it because it wasn't just tightened properly?

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому

      The frame did not fit because they made it loose, the measurements were wrong.

    Can you advise please on bit rate or how many GB per hour at 1080p and 720p 30fps, my main settings for work.
    Using Brinno TLC 200 Pro for time-lapse and after this I reckon this could give the Brinno a run during daytime but maybe not night.

      You are right, I did not do too much night shooting with this camera, and frankly there is nothing impressive there. The results in low light is medium at best, with grains and image quality degradation. Dont get me wrong, this is a reasonable camera, but at this price point can we ask for it to work like a Sony DSC-RX0M2?

    Thank you for the wonderful review! My wife and I are planning to buy an action camera to be able to record our travels and adventures. We're interested in SJCam, it seems to be reasonably priced with lots of features to compete with GoPros.
    I'm at the moment deciding between the SJ6 Legend & SJ7 Star. 4K is not a necessity for us at the moment, but stabilization is definitely essential. I'd like to know, which one would you recommend?
    We are planning on doing a bit of everything, such as riding, hand gliding, hot air balloon, snorkeling, diving, etc.
    Thanks in advance.

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому

      Hi, to be on point, if 4K is not important, SJ6 is the right choice. Reason for that is that, with SJ7 you do not gain much if we ignore the 4K. Plus SJ6's stabilization setting of 'High' is a unique thing and on day to day basis it makes a lot of sense. I personally use this camera a lot. I would have used the SJ7 if it could stabilize 4K. Can not carry a tripod everywhere I go.
      Normally GearBest has some special going for this camera - link goo.gl/PJTTVa
      If the price appears right to you, the product is overall good.

    • @IanMak3103
      @IanMak3103 7 років тому

      Thank you for your feedback. I think I'll go for the SJ6 legend for now, if there are more development in the future, such as 4K 120fps & 4K EIS on SJCAM, I'll upgrade then.
      I have ordered from GearBest for the special price, however, I have also heard some mixed comments about their buying experience on GearBest, I'd like to know what are your thoughts?
      Finally, they wouldn't allow me to buy extra batteries on the website, where would I be able to purchase extra batteries in Sydney Australia? Thanks so much!

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому

      As far as GearBest goes, I receive quite a few parcels from GearBest, and that is to Sydney as well. You can pay using PayPal, that is something I usually do when shopping online. All the best.

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому

      Well. for slow motion, depending on how slow you want it to go, there are two options, 120fps or 240 at 480p. I have used the 720p for 120 fps a number of times and it does a decent enough job. If you can extend the budget a bit, for slow motion the SJ7 has given me much better results.

    Thanks for the reply to my question about the tripod connector on the waterpoof case for the SJ6 Legend but i still do not understand.you say that they do have a case with the tripod screw but is this included with the accessories supplied or do you have to purchase this as an extra,if so i would be most gratefull if you could send me a link on where to aquire said case as i can't find it anywhere thank you👍

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому +1

      Hi,
      This mounting accessory in question comes with the camera. So you have the waterproof case, and at the bottom you will attach this mount that has a thread for tripod. No extra purchase needed.
      Hope this helps.

    Sir May I ask, 1. is it okay if we're gonna set up the camera like a cctv using the car mode? we just want to see what our dog is doing when we are out?
    2. Connected to my question no. 1 is it fine if we will just put it in charging while using it as a CCTV? will it destroy our battery?

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  6 років тому +1

      You can setup the camera as car mode. It will work as an offline camera. The battery should not be effected all that much. The trick would be if you are planning to use it as an online camera that you can check using a mobile phone lets say. When connected via usb the camera does present pc mode, though you will need to do some setup on your part to keep the camera online so you can remotely monitor.

    nice review after your review on sj4000 i bought sj5000. but what about the low light videos. Does that even gets better with sjcam's or no hope on this department

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому

      Hi there, good to see you again..Thanks for dropping by.. I did not review the SJ4000, I started from SJ5000+. Low light is tad a bit better, as shown in the evening shot. Though, the gain is not that much out of the world really, just serviceable. Unless they reduce the megapixel on the sensor, we will not have much improvement. What I would like to see is a 8MP 4K camera, that will be much better.

    • @nitinsrivastava5295
      @nitinsrivastava5295 7 років тому

      Salesberg hi sorruly i mean m10 that you did. i wonder why they use pansonic lens while sony lense on sj5000x of mine do the job so well. so i think it is not worth a upgrade from sj500x which is already a very nice action cam. whats your call on this?

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому +1

      I fully agree on that point. You see, I like the Panasonic sensor since it is just a little bit better, but by big margin, on any given day even I could not tell the quality apart. I compared with the M20 a lot, but 5000x, M20 and SJ6 all have the same NTK96660 processor. This gives all the three camera same characteristics and very close performance. If you do not need the touch screen and some of the other minor external differences, mate your 5000x is practically as good as this. If you are looking for an upgrade, wait till the Star comes out, I'm sure it will bring something else on the table.
      Cheers

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  6 років тому

      Shoot.. I did not pay attention to the models.. While I personally have not used the 7s, I would say they are similar. Though there is something to keep in mind. That is since the M10+ to SJ6 they have used the NTK96660 chip. So there is a lot of variation. I have favorable view of Hawkeye as a manufacturer. But I can not say much about a product that I have not tested in person.

    • @wildhog3217

      The SJ6 Legend is an awesome camera for the price even though 4K is interpolated. Has better interpolated 4K then a lot of cameras out there claiming 4K as a sales gimmick. I love the many features it has and loving that touch screen.

      I did not touch upon still photography with the camera. Though it can be done, I doubt that is the prime objective anyone here. Shooting RAW makes sense if using a DSLR, or something in that league. Where the photographer takes the image and manipulates it further post. This camera will certainly not take photography that far.

    Are there firmware options to bring down the saturation so its better for colour grading?

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому

      Commenting using version 1.4. There are some other colour options, like retro, greyscale, etc. On the other hands it allows for manual metering, EV, ISO, etc. But we are no where near what you are asking for. I have to ask, if you are looking for a camera that can record neutral, or RAW for that matter - is this the right segment of equipment we should be looking at?

    • @danosper2953
      @danosper2953 7 років тому

      Optimally yes. But I don't expect too much out of action cameras. I have sen some color correction on Photos taken with Go Pro etc. but I do expect some compromises

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому

      Still photos taken with this can be used as a reference. I have used it for its wide angle lens for work related things, to mark position of items to know where they are etc. If there is need for quality (of any description), DSLR is still my go to equipment. As you say, this is a camera that will ask for nothing but compromise if anyone tries to use it as a tool for production.

    • @danosper2953
      @danosper2953 7 років тому

      Yeah i use a Mk 3 but i am about to do high speed downhill stuff and need to use something a bit more shock proof. I think its acceptable to a reasonably high degree these days to see action camera stuff used. I just want it to marry up with the canon stuff as much as possible.

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому

      I see... For that it makes sense. Plus the very aggressive gyro will come in handy, this particular camera has high setting, crops in a lot but one of the best hand held videos I could do was with this. You may want to use some kind of gimble to further assist. As far as image quality goes, it is what it is, and is absolutely no contest for a 5D. Having said that, all I can say is this will have to be one of those experimental purchase, if it suits, then well and good, else its a ride off.

    I think with those copycatted more expensive action cams the real advantage of the cheap price is completely gone and you went into the price range where it makes much more sense to buy the original GoPro with way better audio and video quality. These expensive China fakes lack a lot of quality, especially in audio and it makes more sense to just spend the extra 50-100 bucks for a GoPro.

    • @CyberCatTechnologies
      @CyberCatTechnologies  7 років тому +1

      For about the same money or just a bit more you get GoPro Session. Why do you use the word fake, the camera is real enough, with its qualities or flaws. The audio is fine, GoPro does not have any upper hand over the SJ7 or SJ6 as such. Yes, GoPro Hero 5 Black is very nice, now go pay $519 for it.
