this is looking beautiful! i struggle with textures/feathers in my paintings, and i see you apply the feather texture quite late in the process, would you argue that texture is part of details and therefor not that important to focus on until the final stages of the painting? keep up the great work =D
I view it like a layering process, paint what is furthest back/underneath and build forward ontop of that. Start with a midtoned base layer, paint the general shapes focusing on the values (lights & darks) and refine what you have ontop of that. Thank you! 😄

About 20-30 hrs I think
OMG, amazing! Calming sweet voice:) What transfer paper did you use that was so good? I find graphite just doesn't work well over acrylic paint. Advice?
Thank you!💕🤗 I use Ami/Saral white transfer paper. It could be the acrylics youre using, it doesnt stick as well on some that dry more glossy (I use Liquitex basics).

@@brormel1674 I use white transfer paper (gray if the background is too light for white) by either Ami, Saral or any other wax-free transfer paper you can find. ❤️

Thank you! 😄 I use Liquitex basics acrylic paint and the brushes are just a variety of synthetic filbert and round brushes (most without brand) & a liner brush for the finest details.

I used a 19x19cm smooth stretched canvas, tracing paper, Ami (or Saral) white transfer paper (trace with an empty pen or stylus) and there's a picture of the brushes I used at the end of the video. The acrylics I use are Liquitex basics. 🙂

Do we have to apply a colour after the first layer of colour has dries or can we just paint above the wet colour ?
Let it dry or the previous layer will lift, (unless you're trying to blend wet into wet)

If you mean the transfer paper, I'm using Ami or Saral white transfer paper. 😊

Thank you so much! ☺ My brushes aren't anything special, but I recommend to have some synthetic filberts, synthetic liner brushes (for details) and rounds, also make sure they are for acrylics/oils, watercolour brushes are too soft. Some bigger for backgrounds, some cheap bristle brushes, and mop brushes (to remove brush strokes, I use regular make-up blush brushes for that, haven't shown that in any of my videos yet though). 😊

Thanks! Yes I generally mix them, I rarely use them directly out of the tube, however sometimes I want them as they are, (always thin them with water though) :)

How u got that green background
Paint a couple of layers until it looks smooth (let dry inbetween) you can use a little yellow & black in there too if you want some variation. 🙂

What did you use for shimmery effect on feathers
There's no actual shimmer, just made them appear shimmery by painting teal (greenish blue) next to the highlights of the feathers. So dark blue, -->teal

I find that the hardest part about painting with such great details is actually having the colors available.
You only need a handful and mix from there! 🙂🎨 I recommend not to worry so much about getting the colors perfect, focus on your values instead (lights and darks), if you get those right it doesn't really matter what colors you choose, (you can make the bird green and purple and he'll just look like a realistic green and purple bird instead of blue and orange for example...😊).
Also you can always fix the colors at the end with glazes, which also pulls the piece together instead of looking like a "paint by number" and its much easier 🙌
