I used this after the huge snow storm in the San Bernadino mountains (BLIZZARD) and this thing was a champ! It broke up ice and 2" of snow/slush with ease. Saved hours of manual labor (and my back!) Highly recommend!

Currently have the Pro model 926015. I think its 16 years old and still runs great. Only complaint is the disc drive. Over the years its slipped and a pain in the butt to get adjusted just right. Going to get this model with the HYDRO drive because an enclosed drive unit just makes more sense for a snowblower. Here in Upstate NY on Lake Ontario we can get 2 or 3 feet of Lake effect snow in one night and its time to get my last snowblower to take me into retirement. Thank you for your reviews, they've helped make up my mind. Going to of course keep the older unit as a backup.

I have the Ariens 22' compact, with the 208cc LCT engine. My only complaint is that the carburetor emulsion tube constantly clogs up. I thoroughly cleaned it before the first snow storm with a welding tip cleaning tool and compressed air. Halfway through this last snow clean up (17") it started to lean surge. I opened the carburetor and the emulsion tube had a very small amount of hard, white crusty build up. I just installed an inline fuel filter today. We are supposed to have another snow storm tomorrow. a bigger machine isn't an option for me, have to work in tight spaces.

@@zotj @Adam Falkner I've had a platinum sho 24" for 4 years, great machine, you'll be happy with it. I've upgraded to a 28" professional and there's a noticeable difference in heavy snow falls. The engine on the professional is much better at lugging and it has a larger gas tank. They both throw the snow far, but the professional definitely built heavier and does better with wet snow. The professional is also balanced better, more weight on wheels, gets better traction on hills and slippery surfaces. Controls are all the same, but if you have little to no lights where you move snow, the headlight is not adequate to see where the snow is landing. They are both good machines, moving up to the entry level professional series is worth the price to me, but if storage space is a premium, the 24" will work just fine, just get the efi.

@@superduty1046 Thanks for the comment! Maybe someday I’ll upgrade to a professional model. But probably not until I wear out my 24 SHO, which hopefully won’t be for many years. The professional models along with the EFI definitely have some appealing features but I feel the 24” is best for my current driveway and storage situation. The 24 SHO was quite the upgrade from the 6/24 I use to have. Best of wishes to you!

The Ariens is a Beast on its own. Did you add the impeller modification or waiting when the warranty runs out. The impeller modification for the Ariens is more suited for your needs because your in a Rural area to throw the snow far. Not suited for a residential area where houses are too close.

Boy , nobody reads the manual. Type of snow conditions dictate how fast the engine runs. Also the EFI has lithium ion batteries which do not do well in cold weather . So if stored in cold area , charge battery before using . Half hour should do it , it also warms the battery.

Great machine, a beast, based on what you mentioned towards the end of the vid the LCT engine with the EFI uses less gas. I always thought the major advantage of the Briggs 420cc Polar Force engine was the large fuel tank (I understand Briggs now in chapter 11, I believe). I have the Platinum 24 SHO which is more than adequate for the NY Metro burbs my only peeves are the difficult to install fuel cap and small for engine fuel tank. I know you guys get a lot of snow in NH. Excellent vid, enjoy that beast and Best of luck with it!

They say you can just add fuel stabilizer to the tank, let it run long enough to treat the whole fuel system and reach the injector.. Issue with carbs is the float bowl holds a small amount of gas and it easily goes bad, easier than a gallon. I add Stabil to my last tank of the season, I darain any left over gas out, let the engine run out of gas, then pull the float bowl off and wipe it clean, some float bowls have a drain plug.. If I were to buy an EFI, I would do the same storage procedure as having a carb, or just start the engine every 2 or 3 months in the off season. Never had a problem yet, I used to be a small engine mechanic and I'm leery of the EFI. I have heard horror stories about parts availability of electronic components. Any off the shelf component would work if you know what to look for as I doubt Ariens is custom manufacturing fuel injectors etc.

Nope it's Toro.. But Ariens is number 2
Toro even uses a special type of steel that's stronger than Ariens but it's thinner metal
    Ingenious.
    ----------
    Here's the truth
Toro got rated the best performing snowblower when consumer reports and other professional companies did tests.
They're just so ingenious and understand what matters and what doesn't.
For instance Toro's no shear pins and a hardened gearbox is awesome!! And it works I've encountered it myself. Smacked right into a car rim under the snow I didn't know was there at my house. The machine stopped immediately no stress on the system. Started it right back up and on my way.
Anti-clogging system is amazing. It makes the snow lighter by recirculating some of it back in front of the auger. It makes it easier to throw, you can throw more snow, puts less stress on the system, the belts and the gearbox. Not to mention because it keeps recirculating the snow making it lighter and fluffier It allows you to go through thicker, deeper, wet snow easier..
Someone said and was incorrect saying Ariens throws more snow in Toro throws it further. If you look at the specifications Ariens throws 65 tons per hour, the Toro throws 2,200 lb per minute which comes out to about 66 tons per hour. Not only does Toro throw it further it throws more!!
And one more thing Ariens always talks about how it has thicker metal and that's what everyone says better made blah blah blah This is also not true.
Toro has discussed many times why they use plastic in certain places.. they claim plastic last longer, does it rust, it's more slippery so snow doesn't stick to it, in some cases plastic can be even stronger..
Same thing with the metal they use on the housing.. Yes Ariens is thicker But according to what I read Toro uses a special type of metal that is a lot stronger per its size. So in other words you can get the same strength with thinner metal if you use a certain type of metal and a process... It saves them money, you money and does not change the longevity of their products.. Not to mention lighter and easier to maneuver.
Oh and did I mention THE QUICK STICK!! SOME PEOPLE JUST BY TORO IS JUST FOR THAT NOBODY ELSE IS EVEN COMES CLOSE WHEN IN TERMS OF CONTROL OF THE SNOW EVEN ARIENS IS MOST EXPENSIVE MODEL THAT IS COMPLETELY ELECTRONIC!! The quick stick is amazingly ingenious also!!
Toro just seems to know what matters and know what doesn't..
A lot of old school guys favor Ariens That's just how they are no matter what.
OH ALSO DID I MENTION. IN 1951 TORO WAS THE FIRST COMPANY IN HISTORY TO MAKE THE FIRST STAND BEHIND SNOWBLOWER FOR THE CONSUMER!!
    ;)
