Hello Angelo!!! I am Greek but my residence is in Romania. In Greece all UCITS ETFs are completely tax-free so you can use whatever broker you want (many greeks use IB, Degiro and Freedom24). In Romania the situation is the following: ETFs bought by brokers WITH permanent establishment in Romania have significantly lower taxes when you sell them in contrast with brokers WITHOUT permanent establishment in Romania. XTB is the only international broker that has permanent establishment in Romania and that is why you will pay only 1% tax if you keep the ETFs for more than 1 year and 3% if you keep them less than 1 year. For all the rest international brokers (IB, Degiro etc) you have to pay 10%. Also you have to pay 8% for the dividents regardless the broker. Personally I am obliged to pay taxes in Romania so today I will open an account to XTB and I will liquidate my ETFs in Degiro before their value increases (I bought them last month)
Hi, Could you make a video about the "dangers" of using such Brokers ? The advantages or disavantages from using them and how to prevent in general losing your portifolio if they go broke / down.
DEGIRO, XTB and International Brokers seem to be most commonly chosen here in Portugal. 🇵🇹 Thank you for your video, it was nice seeing the overall selection for an average European investor.
Hey Angelo. I recently found your channel and I’m really enjoying your videos. Finally a reliable source for investments, etc in Europe. Always hated hearing about 401k’s and multiple offers only in the US. I got quite some inspiration from your videos so far :)
Thank you for the very informative video. As a Portuguese dividend investor, I disagree with your opinion on XTB: - they are pushy with the derivatives offer but you can just block that noise out; - they offer a vast range of European stocks for free (with a moderate spread, as you mentioned) and a decent selection of UCITS ETFs as well; - they advance the dividend amount on the payment date so I don´t have to wait one or two business days to receive my cash; - Besides having a regulated branch in Portugal and an insured bank account, they offer a lot of content done by native analysts. I have heard of Trade Republic before but your review got me tempted. I just might open an account soon. Thanks again for the quality content.
Thanks Jorge, I appreciate your feedback from a Portuguese perspective. I definitely could have spent more time talking/digging into XTB, I was just a bit hesitant as I don't want inexperienced first time investors to end up buying CFDs or leveraged products by accident.
I trade on the eToro platform now for 6 years. What I missed about the short review about eToro is that when you have a total of 25k on your account (invested & free cash) you will receive an interest on the total amount. Currently this is 2,4% @ 25k, 2,9% @ 50k and 3,4% @ 250k.
Degiro used to be great but after Flatex took them over, i'm not happy anymore. The fees quadrupled (e.g. NYSE from 0,50€/trade to 14,90€ and 3,90 / 4,90 for German stock exchanges) ... I'm happy to see this video and will move to another broker.
Best Informative Video for me as a German. Started some weeks ago with Trading 212 but propable gonna switch to Trade Repuplic after this Video. A Video how to Deal with the Taxes (and how the Brokers handle it for you) would be really interessting. For me is still the question how to use the tax exempt amount (Freibetrag | Freistellungsauftrag) for long term investments.
Hi Angelo. If you compare the spread on VWCE between XTB and IBKR, you will realize it's the same: 1 pip = 0.01 on the actual value. And in XTB you have not costs for buying/selling your positions. Is there something I'm not seeing here? XTB has a 0,50% fee on currency conversion, which on higher amounts gives IBKR a clear win, but as you buy VWCE (XETRA), you buy in EUR, so even can can be avoided on XTB.
My point: I'm thinking of having my EUR portfolio on XTB, and and USD on IBKR. I just want to be sure I've not missed anything on XTB, before defining my position.
As long as you make sure you're buying the physical ETF (no CFD) and you retain full ownership of the shares (eg. being able to transfer somewhere else if needed), then go for it :)
Thank you for the vid Angelo. I opened an account with IB based on your recommendation. It is indeed a complicated platform compared with Degiro. I'm leaving Degiro because of the new handling fees that came to effect mid-May on ETFs. Can you share your thoughts on IB's No Transaction Fee ETFs please? browsing through some of those I couldn't find the symbols on justetf and the ones I did find had a high cost p/a in comparison to the ones you recommend in your other vids. Thanks!

Thank you, Angelo! I use XTB. Regarding the hidden commission in the spread: how could I compare this commission to the fixed commission in Interactive Brokers (for example) to see which one is a better deal? By the way, FYI: they assign you a personal adviser that calls you without your request. I personally found it helpful, as they were not pushy and offered a lot of help, even calling me within a few hours when requesting some tech help to learn to use the platform better. And they were the last push I needed, but I can see how it can be unappealing to some.
Here's a bit of info on taxes: ua-cam.com/video/s_UK3n1PVHs/v-deo.html For brokers, both IBKR and Trade Republic (linked above) are great options in my opinion.
Another very informative video Angelo, thank you! You missed mentioning that people from many non-english speaking countries will face difficulties to buy ETFs in Degiro due to the Crips/KIID regulation.
You're right, sadly the video got too long already. As I wrote a few others, it was a horrible business decision on their end, which I just don't understand. How have you dealt with the situation? Did you move to another broker?
@@AngeloColomboFi I was sad when I realised that Degiro is completely useless for me anymore. I opened an IB account and continue there. I am thinking of transferring my positions to IB, I don’t want to maintain positions in a platform that I cannot use. What do you think?
That's up to your personal preference. You can also hold the positions you already have on Degiro and just buy new shares on IB if you don't want to deal with the transfer (and transfer fees on Degiro's side). If you're not paying too much in exchange connectivity fees every year then that could be worth considering.
Greek investors have access to IBKR, Trade Republic and Scalable, which I consider the best low-cost brokers in Europe :) Since you don't pay taxes on UCITS ETFs (lucky you!), that part is pretty simple as well.

Hey @AngeloColomboFi! Do you plan to create a video to explain the main differences that are coming after the merger of the two European entities of Interactive Brokers? I am mostly worried about the protection offered, which seems to be 20k in Ireland vs 100k in Hungary.
Angelo, another thing to take into account is fees on bank transfer. Often your bank will charge a fee to transfer money on your trader account, depending of some mysterious agreement they have between themselves, like 6-7 Euros fix price per transaction.
Really? What bank are you using (which country)? Never seen a fee transferring money back and forth to IB, Degiro, Trade Republic or other reputable brokers. I've used banks in Austria, Germany and Lithuania (Revolut). Only case where I can imagine it is if you're sending money in another currency or if you're sending money to/from a non-EU bank account. They definitely don't have some sort of hidden agreement amongst themselves 😅 After all, those fees would make you a lot less likely to transfer money their way
@@richasharma2578 Interactive brokers is THE way to go for Belgium. Low fees, secure and has a simplified app and a complicated one for the enthusiasts using their mobile device.
Hi Angelo! I have a question, I want to start compounding long term by buying ETFs every month for the next 20 years or more. I'm quite undecided, Interactive Brokers seems like the most secure option long term, specially if I'm going to accumulate over 100k or 200k € but they take care of the taxes for me. On the other hand, XTB does that I think and also has offices in Portugal, which is where I'm from but doesn't seem as secure. What's your opinion?
Why is inability of transferring securities a deal breaker for you? Because of price fluctuating if you were to liquidate all assets at a certain point, and therefore having to rebuy them on another platform if choosing to move them?
I have a hard time selecting and looking for brokers. Because i live in the netherlands, and i want to invest for around 30-40 years. And want to achieve to get around the €600.000-€1.000.000 in that range. I wanted to invest in the S&P 500 for the steady 10% every year etc. But i want to start early, because im still in collage and can affort to invest 50 euro a month or 17,5 each week. I want to scale the amount i invest once i have a better income sorce, or more to spend. So i want to buy fractional shares and dont want a lot of fee's and taxes once i withdraw that amount of money. I still get confused in what i should invest and wich broker... Degiro i already made an account and realised, i couldnt buy fractional shares.. What would be you'r choice in my position?
In your position I would just go with Trade Republic angelo.fi/trep or Scalable Capital angelo.fi/scalable Both of them are excellent options, where you can set up a free savings plan (recurring investment) and completely eliminate fees, which is important since you're investing smaller amounts. You can always transfer your shares over to IBKR later on once your account reaches a larger size (if you so wish).
Hello Angelo, I find your videos very informative. I am an expat here in Germany and I would like to use IBKR instead of the local brokers here in Germany like Smartbrokers, Trade Republic and Scalable. How can I make this possible without running into tax issues? Thank you.
If you want to keep things as simple as possible tax-wise in Germany, I'd honestly stick to Trade Republic and Scalable. Otherwise you'd need to declare and pay taxes on a yearly basis using IB's tax reports, which may or may not include all the information you need for the German tax system.
Bitpanda is great for crypto (although expensive), while they only offer derivatives when it comes to stocks and ETFs, not real shares. As a result, I prefer IBKR, Trade Republic or Flatex (the last of which takes care of taxes).
Hi Angelo! Thanks for all the great content you are sharing with us! I currently use Degiro and would like to switch to IBKR. What is the best approach for my position in DEGIRO in your option - transfer them to IBKR, sell them, or just leave them in DEGIRO and continue investing in IBKR?
Thank you for making this video: for a person in Switserland: which brokers do you recommend and why? Preferably one that takes care of the taxes. Thank you for helping me out!
IBKR would still be my personal choice: angelo.fi/ibkr They don't take care of taxes for you though. Maybe Swissquote does? Sadly their fees are quite high as far as I know.
Definitely another top notch broker, but very expensive in comparison. I don't think they're worth it compared to IB, Trade Republic and Scalable - so I would go with these first if you have access to them.
From what I read, Revolut charges a 0,12% custody fee and most likely you won't be able to transfer your shares to another broker. So I'd stick to IBKR, Trade Republic or Scalable instead.
Great video Angelo, thank you. I started reading books about ETFS and I 've been seen your videos for quite some time now. My journey starts this summer. I live in Denmark, so we don't use Euro, but the currency here (danish kroner) has more or less the same market value as the euro. My plan is to create a long term invest and use Degiro in the begning and eventually move to IB in the future. We have Degiro here in DK, so it won't be a problem to start. Can you please make a video in the future that focus only on Peer 2 peer landing strategy? Like tips and trick. Cheers!!
My pleasure! My top 3 from the video (IBKR, Trade Republic and Scalable), linked in the description, are all available in the Netherlands. In my opinion you can't go wrong with either of them!
Hello Angelo, congrats for the channel which i find it fantastic. When you say that "they take care of the taxes for you", i would add that they inform the tax agency in Germany as well, which is ok, hence your tax balance is always updated, avoiding headaches. IB, to my best knowledge, it is also my broker though, does not inform tax authorities, and therefore you are "alone" to get all the extracts and make the paper work, which can be challenging when a lot of movements occurs. Furthermore, are you aware if IB is now remunereting available cash in broker accounts in Europe? Many thanks and congrats again.
Thank you Eduardo! Yes, I meant that you have nothing more to think about tax-wise in that scenario, as the broker takes care of all of it with local tax authorities for you. Yes, with IB you have to deal with filing them yourself, but I do find their tax reports very useful (they also convert USD to EUR correctly in the statement on the exact day you receive USD dividends for example). I know that IBKR also pays interest now, sadly it's only really interesting if you have a large account balance and the first 10k of cash don't receive interest: angelo.fi/ibkr - you can calculate the exact interest rate you get on your money under Pricing - Interest Rates - Interest Rate Calculator.
Hi Angelo, as an expat in Austria, too, I wanted to ask you which strategy you prefer for ETFs: whether accumulating or distributing in particular. A colleague of mine has put the accent on the taxation, and I am worried about the yearly money to be paid, that makes accumulating less convenient compared to other countries, like UK, or even Italy.
Hi Angelo, I’m new to your channel, and I found the content very useful. I also live in Austria and wanted to ask if you have a video or content, or can comment why(or if) would it be better to use flatex rather than Trade Republic, which I see you use. Is it only the fact that flatex take care of the taxes for me? Is it too difficult to do it with Trade Republic?
Thanks Angelo, great straight forward content to educate my lack of experience. I have read on some forums that IBIE is not protected like IBCE? Are you aware if this is true?
My pleasure Jon! Any assets you have in stocks/ETFs/bonds on regulated brokers like IB are segregated and held in your name, so they're exclusively yours. That's completely different from bank deposits, where a bank is free to use your money however it pleases and you need the deposit guarantee to at least get back up to 100k if it were to go bankrupt (assuming the guarantee fund is large enough in a given country). Meanwhile with a strictly regulated broker like IBKR, none of your assets (eg. stocks/ETFs) can be touched in case of bankruptcy, so the full amount of shares can be transferred over to another broker of yours. Additionally, you have a 20k protection (called investor compensation) in most European countries to protect against fraud (eg. a broker not actually buying the shares you see in your account). Yes I agree the 20k are ridiculously low compared to the US (500k), but it should never be needed if you stick to established, well-regulated brokers. What you're comparing is the difference between the investor compensation in Ireland and Hungary. It's higher in Hungary than in most European countries for some reason.
That's only referring to the yearly "pre-tax" we have to pay in Austria even for Acc. ETFs, so it's irrelevant if you're based in another country: ua-cam.com/video/s_UK3n1PVHs/v-deo.html
thank you for sharing @Angelo. How do you invest in US based ETFs? As I see it is only possible via CFD on Etoro and you need to have over USD 1M under assets to trade those ETFs on IB. Perhaps there is any other platforms alternatives to trade those or having US ETF analog in Europe? Cheers!
Why would buying an etf or stock be less risky than buying the equivalent CFD? It's the same pricing, it all depends on how long you hold it. You can hold CFDs for decades without leverage and with 0 commission if you want. Only disadvantage I guess is you can't transfer your holds to another broker
Angelo, great content! have a question though, I didnt see you referring to the capital protection - is this not a key feature for you? I am actually pretty confused, I utilize XTB and I see the funds are ensured in case of bankruptcy only until 20k eur - this seems like a red flag to me - what are your thoughts?
What do you think of T212 after the recent changes: account transfer and opt-out lending, especially with their pie feature that doesn't exist in any other broker in Europe
Still not a fan, as they chose to have EU clients regulated in Cyprus (not a top tier regulator) instead of Central Europe for some reason. Here's why that could be an issue if they're not stringent: ua-cam.com/video/U47v1DkQRQk/v-deo.html Share transfers are still limited as well, as you can't transfer to Interactive Brokers for example. And yes, I know Trading212 uses IB in the backend, but it's still a limitation.
Great job Angelo, thanks for sharing! Can you provide some feedback o this new thing on Degiro? They recently changed the policy on the language of the KIID documents that are allowed to be traded. For example, pretty much no ETF has its documents in Greek, so I cannot but anything for months!
Yeah sorry for not including that - the video already got so long 😅 Horrible business decision on their part. As I already wrote, they could have easily fixed it by asking people if they're ok with documents in English, but nope. One option could be to open a separate account via Degiro Ireland (I opened an account there after they moved Degiro Austria to Flatex): angelo.fi/degiro But honestly, you might be better off just using IBKR or Trade Republic instead.
@@AngeloColomboFi I believe you are right. I already have a position in IBKR (larger than Degiro) so most likely I will transfer there that part of portfolio too or go with Trade Republic to have some diversification.
Hello Angelo, I hope you are doing fine!. I would like to ask you... investing through a broker involves risk, they can go broke. it seems to make sense to invest directly through the company that creates the ETF (ie: Vanguard). What's your opinion about that?, What would be the pros and cons? maybe you could make a short video about it?. Thank you!
I am, thank you! I kind of talked about this topic here: ua-cam.com/video/XZ5ADuQEYAo/v-deo.html Unless share lending is involved, your ETFs are always completely segregated from the broker and exclusively yours. Thus, they can not be touched in case of bankruptcy and you can transfer them to another broker. It's very different from how bank deposits work. Sadly investing directly with Vanguard is only available in very few European countries, I obviously wouldn't have an issue with that either!
I don't like Interactive Brokers that much for a European investor as it complicates your taxes because the HQ is not located in Europe but in US. Am I wrong about finding this a valid concern?
Thank you. As an Australian physically in Germany but not registered & technically still an Australian resident & I bound to Australian brokers or what brokers have I access to in Eu ?
I was wondering what is the best broker in your opinion for long-term investment, commision free, and takes care of taxes that is based in the Netherlands?
Hi Angelo! In Romania XTB has a capital gain tax of only 1% because it’s registered in our country, as opposed to ikbr which has 10%. The fiscal laws might change in 10-20-30 years, but still sounds good as of now. Which broker would you chose if you were a romanian resident?

You can also hold the positions you already have on Degiro and just buy new shares on IB if you don't want to deal with the transfer (and transfer fees on Degiro's side). If you're not paying too much in exchange connectivity fees every year then that could be worth considering.
I really enjoyed the video! Thanks for the help
Happy to hear that, Alex!
Trading 212 update: you can now disable share lending . And you can also transfer shares to another broker . Am i correct @angelo?
Yes
Very interesting Angelo! Any suggestion for greece specifically. Do you think international brokers is a good option?
Greek investors have access to IBKR, Trade Republic and Scalable, which I consider the best low-cost brokers in Europe :)
Since you don't pay taxes on UCITS ETFs (lucky you!), that part is pretty simple as well.
@@AngeloColomboFi Thanks for your response!Super helpful.but i have a crucial question.I decided to open in trade republic.back in 2016 i got a fine in germany for excessive speed limit.Never paid cause i left the country.Could german government get access to my trade republic brokerage account and get the money?are they allowed to do that? I would appreciate your response
Hello, my name is Angelo… and I need a glass of water for my sore throath 😂
Angelo, can u make video for the local Austrian ETF and best options to invest
hey man i am in the beigning of my journey , you are so helpful , ty for great content , wish best for you and your family .
Happy to hear that, Mazdak! Enjoy the journey and wishing you & your family all the best as well!
What is your take on Lightyear? It looks very promising amd has taxfree accounts in Hungary for example.
Thank you so much! You make it easier for me
Great video, thanks!
Great analysis! Thank you.
My pleasure Carlos!
This was very helpful.
i currently have tastytrade and i´m quite happy about, the only downside is that to transfer from eur to usd to invest in popular etfs, they dont have fees on deposits, buying and selling etfs and what i found is that they have a withdraw fee of 25 usd and i think they allow you to transfer or receive shares from another broker, i really recommend
And that is a problem I still haven't figured out how to resolve (for example with De Giro and Interactive Broker)
They definitely don't have some sort of hidden agreement amongst themselves 😅
After all, those fees would make you a lot less likely to transfer money their way
Very, very informative video Angelo! Thank you for putting it together! =)
Thank you Denis!
I am beginning to invest in trading crypto and even more ... but i am beginner my name Angelo 😅
Thank you, this was very helpfull for me!
Good video. Thanks. I noticed your packing on some weight. Your new life suits you well. Good work
Thanks Neil!🙏
Nice Video Angelo thanks!
Opened Up IB account for the Holding Company's portfolio, looking forward!
Nice, have to tell me more about your setup next time we talk!
Hi Angelo, I would be very curious to see a video on fees for buying crypto on Bitpanda vs IB. Thanks!
Great content, thanks Angelo! Any recommandations for Belgium?
I am also interested in recommendations for Belgium. Did you find a good broker? :)
@@richasharma2578 Interactive brokers is THE way to go for Belgium. Low fees, secure and has a simplified app and a complicated one for the enthusiasts using their mobile device.
Hi, do you know if I can buy VUSA (Amsterdam) in EUROS in Interactive Brokers? This is the ETF I was investing in Degiro but I cannot anymore…
Thank u!
I live in Spain Angelo. Which is the best broker for me then?
In your position I would just go with Trade Republic angelo.fi/trep or Scalable Capital angelo.fi/scalable
Both of them are excellent options, where you can set up a free savings plan (recurring investment) and completely eliminate fees, which is important since you're investing smaller amounts. You can always transfer your shares over to IBKR later on once your account reaches a larger size (if you so wish).
Hello Angelo,
I find your videos very informative.
Hi Angelo!
Great video.
What aboit Bitpanda? They are Austrian company, and as understood, since this yrar they are taking care of taxes...
Bitpanda is great for crypto (although expensive), while they only offer derivatives when it comes to stocks and ETFs, not real shares. As a result, I prefer IBKR, Trade Republic or Flatex (the last of which takes care of taxes).
Hello Angelo. Which brokers will you suggest I use in France? What ETFs do you buy or suggest for short term investors?
Hi Angelo! Thanks for all the great content you are sharing with us! I currently use Degiro and would like to switch to IBKR. What is the best approach for my position in DEGIRO in your option - transfer them to IBKR, sell them, or just leave them in DEGIRO and continue investing in IBKR?
Thank you for making this video:
for a person in Switserland: which brokers do you recommend and why?
Preferably one that takes care of the taxes.
Thank you for helping me out!
IBKR would still be my personal choice: angelo.fi/ibkr
They don't take care of taxes for you though.
Maybe Swissquote does? Sadly their fees are quite high as far as I know.
How about brokers that will allow option trading?
Hi Angelo, thanks for your informative content. How do you rate Swissquote as compared to your top brokers?
Definitely another top notch broker, but very expensive in comparison. I don't think they're worth it compared to IB, Trade Republic and Scalable - so I would go with these first if you have access to them.
Hi, thax for such an interesting video, but I believe you missed Revult bank option, can you elaborate on this plz?
Cheers!!
Thank you Thiago! Will do!
All these broker look new to me
Hello Angelo! Thanks for this informative video! Do you have any advice on an expat working in the Netherlands to chose the broker?
I know that IBKR also pays interest now, sadly it's only really interesting if you have a large account balance and the first 10k of cash don't receive interest: angelo.fi/ibkr - you can calculate the exact interest rate you get on your money under Pricing - Interest Rates - Interest Rate Calculator.
hello, do you know which are the brokers that inform the tax agency for you? thanks!
Hey Angelo, can you please review Tasty Trade? It seems to be also a good option as it provides DRIP.
Hi Angelo. Thanks for your videos. Is SXR8 a good ETF for you? And why is its price so high compared to other ETFs tracking SP500? Thanks 🙏
Good insights
Thank you Becky!
What about interactive brokers for the German market?
Hi Angelo, I’m new to your channel, and I found the content very useful. I also live in Austria and wanted to ask if you have a video or content, or can comment why(or if) would it be better to use flatex rather than Trade Republic, which I see you use. Is it only the fact that flatex take care of the taxes for me? Is it too difficult to do it with Trade Republic?
Thank you
its disgraceful how trading 212 still does not support in-specie transfer.
I agree, they've been mentioning it was "coming soon" forever.
@@AngeloColomboFi thanks for the thorough answer!
would you mind explaining a bit why you find vanguard ETFs more tax efficient than those of ishares like EUNL ?
That's only referring to the yearly "pre-tax" we have to pay in Austria even for Acc. ETFs, so it's irrelevant if you're based in another country: ua-cam.com/video/s_UK3n1PVHs/v-deo.html
Hey Angelo, what do you think about Morningstar ?
thank you for sharing @Angelo. How do you invest in US based ETFs?
As I see it is only possible via CFD on Etoro and you need to have over USD 1M under assets to trade those ETFs on IB. Perhaps there is any other platforms alternatives to trade those or having US ETF analog in Europe?
Cheers!
Ticker: VWCE)...ma non è meglio l' SWDA ???
Why would buying an etf or stock be less risky than buying the equivalent CFD? It's the same pricing, it all depends on how long you hold it. You can hold CFDs for decades without leverage and with 0 commission if you want. Only disadvantage I guess is you can't transfer your holds to another broker
CFDs introduce other risks, since you don't own the underlying assets (eg. stocks).
I made a video looking at this topic in more detail: ua-cam.com/video/U47v1DkQRQk/v-deo.html
ODD TO SHARE AN BROKERAGE ACCOUNT WITH SOMEONE ELSE. I DONT BUY THAT🙄
Doesn't italian residents must pay IVAFE tax for all $$ invested oversea?
How much IB will charge if I buy shares of a US or EU company? Is it a % of the value invested or a per-order fee?
What do you think of T212 after the recent changes: account transfer and opt-out lending, especially with their pie feature that doesn't exist in any other broker in Europe
Still not a fan, as they chose to have EU clients regulated in Cyprus (not a top tier regulator) instead of Central Europe for some reason. Here's why that could be an issue if they're not stringent: ua-cam.com/video/U47v1DkQRQk/v-deo.html
Share transfers are still limited as well, as you can't transfer to Interactive Brokers for example. And yes, I know Trading212 uses IB in the backend, but it's still a limitation.
@@AngeloColomboFi I hope any of IBKR or TR can make this pie feature :D
Yes, I think it would make sense for Trade Republic especially, with its commission-free recurring investments
Which is the best option trading broker for index trading in france ?
Great job Angelo, thanks for sharing! Can you provide some feedback o this new thing on Degiro? They recently changed the policy on the language of the KIID documents that are allowed to be traded. For example, pretty much no ETF has its documents in Greek, so I cannot but anything for months!
Yeah sorry for not including that - the video already got so long 😅
Horrible business decision on their part. As I already wrote, they could have easily fixed it by asking people if they're ok with documents in English, but nope. One option could be to open a separate account via Degiro Ireland (I opened an account there after they moved Degiro Austria to Flatex): angelo.fi/degiro
But honestly, you might be better off just using IBKR or Trade Republic instead.
@@AngeloColomboFi I believe you are right. I already have a position in IBKR (larger than Degiro) so most likely I will transfer there that part of portfolio too or go with Trade Republic to have some diversification.
Unfortunately very limited options I can use in Malta. I think II can only open Lightyear account. IBKR, Trade Republic, etc are not available 😢
Malta is listed as available country on the IB website, are you sure about that? angelo.fi/ibkr
@@AngeloColomboFi will check again. Early 2023 it was not for sure. Thanks for getting back though!
I kind of talked about this topic here: ua-cam.com/video/XZ5ADuQEYAo/v-deo.html
Unless share lending is involved, your ETFs are always completely segregated from the broker and exclusively yours. Thus, they can not be touched in case of bankruptcy and you can transfer them to another broker. It's very different from how bank deposits work.
Sadly investing directly with Vanguard is only available in very few European countries, I obviously wouldn't have an issue with that either!
You have clarified it for me, thank you!
Please, can try and slow down a little bit with your speech pace, I think you are a little too fast. Thank you.
Noted, I'll try! 🙏
I don't like Interactive Brokers that much for a European investor as it complicates your taxes because the HQ is not located in Europe but in US. Am I wrong about finding this a valid concern?
If you're based in Europe, you're most likely using Interactive Brokers Ireland and there are no problems/complications tax-wise that I'm aware of
Thank you. As an Australian physically in Germany but not registered & technically still an Australian resident & I bound to Australian brokers or what brokers have I access to in Eu ?
I was wondering what is the best broker in your opinion for long-term investment, commision free, and takes care of taxes that is based in the Netherlands?
I don't think there are any that fulfill all 3 of those requirements.
I like InvestEngine but perhaps they are not available in mainland Europe.
Hi all.. I am based in UK so maybe it does not apply but... Is not InvestEngine available there? Huge selection of ETF and no platform fees
Hi Angelo! In Romania XTB has a capital gain tax of only 1% because it’s registered in our country, as opposed to ikbr which has 10%. The fiscal laws might change in 10-20-30 years, but still sounds good as of now. Which broker would you chose if you were a romanian resident?
XTB and Tradeville have the 1-3% capital gains tax included my accountant told me. Curious if there are other brokers.
