It was fun and hilarious. Overall a joy. Sure it’s not an adaptation of the sequel book but on its own merits separate from that, it’s good.
The Mutant Saga : Phase 7-9 by Screencrush reaction please🙏🙏
React to The Haunted Mansion movie next
React to The Nightmare Before Christmas movie
You guys know there's Funko Pops of Billy you should buy one
The ending caught me offguard by how touching it was going to be. They did a great job on this movie.
The same happened to me, I wasn't expecting to cry at all, but it was a great sequel
yeah🥺
Yea was so mixed when I first saw it. Felt like it was building to a big confrontation moment with a Winnifred being all powerful that was just dropped but I loved what they did at the same time too so it didn’t disappoint either.
It boggles the heck out of my brain that it didn't go to theatres?
I was pleasantly suprised how much I enjoyed this sequel. I love how we all felt sad for Winnie at the end. I actually teared up. I would be happy to see another movie with the Sanderson Sisters.
All in all. This was a fun campy Halloween story. With surprisingly emotional depth especially from Bette Middler. She had the best performance in the whole film.
Weirdly I had tears.
I thought the entire returning cast members did great reprising there roles
Is it better than the original? No. But is it still an enjoyable entry with Brest Performances fron the returning characters? Hell yes.
Exactly what I came here to say!
Anyone who loves this type of humor this movie was a wet dream.
A lot of people went into this with very high expectations completely forgetting that the first one was considered a bad movie until millennials became adults andcoined it one of the best movies of our generation. Those of us who went in for the ride and who wanted to have fun loved the shit out of it.
If I hear one more comment about the inconsistencies we can pick a part that first one for all it’s inconsistencies all day and still wouldn’t be done lol. Or the comments about the teen characters if we were to focus more on them then people would’ve been complaining that there wasn’t enough Sanderson sisters. sometimes there’s no pleasing people
i enjoyed this movie so much, the call backs to the first movie, the humor, it was all amazing and i couldn’t stop smiling throughout it
As soon as Winnys eyes turned purple you understand why the older witch warned her not to use the spell and what happened to her covenant.
The humor in this was so good. As far as sequels go for this type of movie, this was about as good as I could have expected. Very fun!
I genuinely liked this movie and I’d be down for a Hocus Pocus 3. Anne Fletcher did a very good job. It’s not as good as the first one which I didn’t expect it to. I was honestly thinking it was gonna be crap from the trailers I saw and it was better than I thought it would be.
I want a prequel. I want to see how Sarah and Billy became lovers, also just focus on the sisters! I enjoyed this movie very much
I find it funny that the reverend was afraid of a little orb weaver spider, lol. They're basically harmless and are great for your garden 😊
I genuinely enjoyed this movie for what it is. As someone who didn’t grow watching the original I don’t have nostalgia tied to it. My biggest disappointment is that it isn’t an adaptation of the All new sequel book from 2018. I mean the Blue Print is LITERALLY there!
I feel like it's slightly inspired by it though...
That where Disney messed up big time. I’m honestly happy it was included with the Disney plus subscription because it’s not worth paying extra for. They should have went with the 2018 book. Hocus Pocus 2 honestly felt like it had no plot and the movie never actually started 😩. So disappointed 😔
They weren't able to get the original kids so they didn't go the route of the sequel book and did something new
@@michelleboosinger5251 With the young girls in this film, Hocus Pocus 3 will focus on them possibly being the new coven w/ them representing the Winifred, Mary and Sarah of their town.
@@COSun25 idk bette Kathy and Sarah have all said they would like to do a third movie
I loved seeing the sisters again!! Just as great as the first time. I didn’t care to much for the three teen leads. I was so attached to Max, Allison, Thackery, and Danny, and felt like I knew them sooo well. With the three new leads, I don’t even remember their names. They are diverse and that’s great but they all feel like dry toast; like set dressing the writers didn’t know what to do with. Other than that though, I was just glad to see the sisters again.
Yea and I feel like the original teens had as much character and charm than the witches. While in this one, the teen leads are just.....there. Pretty boring.
@@TECfan1 I really liked them. Not the main girl as much as her friend lol
@@TECfan1 nah the original movie's teens were just as boring. Difference is, they were also all incredibly stupid. Both movies had pretty lame leads. The witches were great though.
@@viennasavage9110 Not at all.
@@TECfan1 Yes bro. The protag in the first movie lit the candle despite his crush and his sister practically begging him not to. And their writers can't decide if they want him to be a jerky skeptic or a meek pushover superstition.
His crush's role in the movie dosent go beyond " the girl ", and she in an atom-and-eve twist decides to suddenly persuade him to open the book despite the cat saying specifically not to.
And the little sister decides to simply leave her protection barrier that they built for her knowing that she was the literal target of the witches.
All three of them are simply plot devices that push the plot forward with stupidity.
Sally looks ethereal and John is such a sweetheart
I felt that the spooky halloween vibe and the threat from the witches of the original was missing from this sequel as it leaned further towards the comedy. However the opening with the younger witches and the touching moment at the end more than made up for it. :)
Just watched it this morning, and yes I had a fun time with it. In my fantasy plotting for what a proper sequel would look like, I actually wanted the new teen protagonist to be a budding witch, so I'm happy that became a big plot point. My biggest gripe with this is sort of a big gripe I have with a lot of contemporary movies Disney puts out, which is that across the board there's a polish that seems to be lacking from the writing. Plot points get a little jumbled, dialogue rattles on slightly frivolously, and I just think you lose a little bit of the cohesion. And I agree, I love seeing the sisters back together, but I missed the malevolent nature that Winnifred specifically had in the original movie. She seemed slightly more bumbling in this one, which Sarah and Mary already do enough of, and I missed the wrangling leadership quality that she displayed in the first film.
I love the original so much and this one did not disappoint! So happy with it.🖤
I was waiting for this reaction. The film delivered on the laughs. I'm do wish that Kenny Ortega was involved in the production like he did w/ the 1st film.
I just finished this movie and said the same thing to my cousin who I was watching with. I feel he would’ve brought a certain creative element like he did with the first film he directed.
I think there should be one more that closes the story for good. A trilogy of movies based on 3 Witches seem like a good amount
The end credit scene suggest they'll will be a 3rd
They said they're thinking about making the third animated that could be cool endless possibilities creatively that way
Bette Kathy and Sarah all said they would be down for a third movie
I hope the original kids join forces with the new kids to battle the witches or something.
@@TECfan1 I’ve honestly been thinking the way the movie was set up they are definitely in hopes to making a third one because it seemed like a middle movie in a trilogy. I would love that if people from the first and the second join forces
Winnie loved her sisters enough to sacrifice her life to be with them got me!
I’m having a Hocus Pocus / Halloween party at my place tomorrow night with a bunch of people that I convinced to watch HP2 with me, so…here’s hoping the hype is real and it’s an actually good nostalgic sequel 😅 Oh well, I’m looking forward to this!
its a mistake .... they do a horrible song instead of i put a spell on you
hopefully you have some other movies lined up for that party. haha maybe i am being too critical/sentimental, but this movie doesn’t have nearly half the charm or captivation as the first one did, and it feels like a forced cash grab. nonetheless, enjoy your party
How was the party while/after watching this film??
For me the credits couldn't come fast enough..
This movie was a very awesome sequel to the first movie. It was worth waiting 29 years for that.
Watched it, done very well, great choice of songs, and the ending got me emotional and loved the small ties to the original film. The original and cast was great and funny too. I give the film a thumbs up.
The reason why that scene played from Hocus pocus 1 was a tribute to Penny Marshall and Garry Marshall the actors who played those two characters in the first one who passed away
I cried my heart out when I seen book cry at the end !!! The end of an era ….
I watched it with subtitles and the subs called Siri Alexa.
But also if you pay attention the witch who gave them book and winifred during the final Spell both have glowing purple eyes suggesting they both did the spell and the other witch lied about the reason for being alone but also explains why she warned them to never do it too.
Yeah it explains why she didn't have a coven as well
I love when movies have giant fucking moons in them. That moon in the forest scene is like ten times the size of the moon in the sky lol
I got much more from it than expected. I love the overall message of sisterhood.
The book always had a personality. They just developed it’s personality more. But she always had a relationship with it. I agree that the editing was not very seamless so I am curious to see director’s cut. It did feel a bit rushed at times. But overall good.
I enjoyed this movie and the continuity from the first film plays out nicely bringing that archive footage to the current story perfectly. It's like all three actresses came back to a homecoming pretty much 29 years later as if they never left the role. Definitely the reunion was great and the ending for sure was touching and simple to end their chapter at the same time passing the torch to the new generation. Also listening to the original score from the film playing out in the end credits was just touching.
I hope they make like a buffy type show with the three girls especially since one has powers and it feels like they didn’t touch upon that to heavily so they can touch more on it in a show
I think what it missed was having the kids back as adults, even if they were just cameos. But other than that, it was great.
I grew up with the original watching it as long as I can remember. It came out the same year I was born so I can’t even remember a time when I wasn’t a fan of it. And this morning I watched the first one and then right after watched this second one. I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing from the start. It was incredible. You could tell with each second Bette, Kathy, Sarah and Doug were on screen that they were having a blast reprising their roles. Which of course made it all the more fun to watch it. I loved all of the nods to the first one as someone who’s loved it forever. I thought the part where the two guys was watching the first one was a hilarious and cool nod to it. I didn’t feel like it took away from the movie at all given you just seen Gary and Penny in that scene so I’m thinking maybe it was just a little Easter egg moment and not something to be really picked at possibly as though a movie has been made based on the events that happened in 1993. However I could definitely be wrong about that but that’s just my initial reaction/thought process of it. The end made me tear up because of how heartfelt it was. I really enjoyed that. I will say that before I seen the trailer for it I was hoping the sequel would be based off of the book sequel because that’s a really neat book. However I love what this one is about. I hope that they make a third one and would possibly like if they did for them to tie in the book sequel in it or something similar.
Cool fact .. the site they filmed this at was very close to my house and we got to walk around and see it beforehand. Very cool.
Aww I wish they would’ve used a little sister and big brother again 😭 that really added to the original movie the whole “protector” side of it lol
they tried to get thora aka dani to make a cameo but she had scheduling conflicts with filming wendesday but omri and vinessa were not asked to come back
@@Laurenlife oh noooo lol I’ll still love the movie regardless I’m just so happy they’re back!!! 😍
Yea like I did not really care about the new teen characters at all. Like the actors were good but their story was just not interesting, memorable or emotional at all. It feels like they tried too hard to focus on the witch sisters and make them feel empathetic, but they didn't need to. They're evil villains who eat children, they'll never be empathetic ha. In the original they were clearly the villains...extremely fun and hilarious villains, but villains at that. And the heroes still had interesting character arcs and charm, but here they were just there because they needed to be.
The coolio reference had me dying haha
I didn't realize until this reaction video that the new main cast's hairstyles were meant to be a more modern take on the Sanderson Sister's. That's pretty cute ngl.
The Sanderson sisters are back
I really liked it. Thanks for the reaction video into my nostalgia. Surprisingly emotional magical and wonderful 💖🧹🐈⬛️🕯📖
Hocus pocus 3. They bring back the sisters to fight Mother witch
I enjoyed it. Some are trying to say its better than the first which is a big stretch but this was definitely a worthy Sequel
I heard that they are bringing Hocus Pocus to life on Broadway!
My biggest issue with this movie was that cobweb the cat didn't talk. It was missing the talking cat
Hannah waddingham was in GOT too as Septa Unella
Sarah didn’t seem into the sequel. Kathy and Bette seemed locked into their roles. You can tell they had a lot of fun and they really owned their characters.
In the sequel, Sarah looked like an actress that didn’t want to return but she was begged to and Disney threw a nice paycheck in her face so she agreed.
Idk about, sjp really loves this franchise! She speaks dearly about it and was excited about the sequel! Perhaps she was just tired after doing satc reboot.
@@chazharris Creepy comment
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! It was funny and was just great. Of course not a lot of movies compare to the original but this one was fun. Loved the way they brought in some scenes from the original as well. So much hate I’ve seen this movie getting, but it’s expected nowadays lol. All in all, good movie!
42:55 “I think everybody will”
Ha- false 😂
The second one is just a tighter script overall so that already gives it a leg up for me personally.
Also more than that, the first one also feels like a TV movie if you go back and rewatch it. Honestly for me the second one doesn’t feel like a theatrical film, but it feels more than TV.
It was really great for continuity, it was a great way to wrap up the moment from the first movie, when the final scene cut to the book opening its eye right before the end credits
Idk I thought the continuity was off in parts. In the original movie they said nothing good could come from the book, but in this it was kind of a hero and it helped the teen girls? It was also said the book was given to Winifred by the Devil himself, but in the flashback here it was given by the older witch. They also mentioned a mother character in the original who seemed to also be a witch, even mentioning meals she made them like "Scorpion pie", but here they seemed to be orphans (unless she died at some point). But then she wouldn't have knowingly have been a witch because the sisters learned about magic from the older witch in the woods. The fact that the hero characters became witches also kind of muddled things because now I question, are there good and evil witches? Do they all eat children? Idk it just changed some things that don't quite line up.
@@TECfan1 I think the book helped the girls because Winifred ignored and refused to read the warning before doing the spell, so the book wanted to show Becca why he was insistent on Winifred not doing the spell
@@JoseGonzalez-ei1kb Yea but the girls ended up keeping it and it's infered that they will become the new witch trio. But tbh that kind of muddles the message of the original where there were clearly heroes and villains. If nothing good can come from the book it just doesnt fit quite right with the first movie. And still, the Devil thing. He didn't give them the book here yet he clearly was said to in the other one.
@@TECfan1 To be fair, only Binx said that. I think the book is neutral and helps witches depending on what they're goals are, plus Winifred betrayed the promise she made, claiming that the promise expired; so when Becca told the book that it has a choice, it switched sides
Allen Waiserman was a total.queen at this years Disney Drag Night.
I went in with low expectations and ended up cheesin through most of it ♡
43:17 I agree with her in this one, the movie felt like it was made with a series budget and not a movie budget
This is not a perfect sequel but it's cute and had more emotion than expected. Bette's final scene was great and added depth to The Sanderson Sisters Dynamic. The Sanderson Sisters coming back was great and that alone made this worth a watch.
I liked it when they showed a scene from the first Hocus Pocus on the tv
I loved the flashback in the beginning and I loved the ending I guess I felt the same like I wish there was more Sanderson sisters but from what I understand they filmed it during the pandemic so the party scenes weren't as fun as the original and also their musical number wasn't as fun I watch the original first and there is a big difference but it seems like everything is more isolated in this I think it's because of the pandemic like them being alone in the woods and just not interacting with many people not many crowds the first one was just a more over-the-top production. But this one was very cute and heartfelt I enjoyed it
If they make a 3rd I'll be extremely excited
I watched hocus pocus before right before watching the second one, and I forgot how adult some of the humor was. Man the 90's were a different time! I liked the movie. I found after the Sanderson orgins, the beginning was a little uneven. Some of the humor did not hit. But I felt it got alot better at the end and I'm very happy we got 2 musical numbers! Overall enjoyable enough.
i cried at the end like completely unexpected and i am so sad but happy with this movie haha
Winnie was just too cute in this movie for some reason. She was just so cute idk
I feel like this was passing that torch type of movie! The ending made me feel some type of way 🥺
You can’t and won’t ever be able to live up to 30 years of cult classic inflation. The first movie was considered a flop and was only kept alive by the yearly spamming of it during Halloween season on abc family and Disney channel. It grew to what it was. Maybe this will too. It’s the same style and speed as the last. Just doesn’t have the nostalgia on it yet like the 1993 version. But it will.
I LOVE THIS BECAUSE THIS IS FUNNY LMAO, I EVEN GOT TO SEE THIS MOVIE FREE and i've already watched this movie before 2 days ago on disney+
Hannah Waddingham from Ted Lasso and Krypton playing a witch.
In total, enjoyed it but definitely not as strong as the first. I didn’t love the flashback in the beginning being so silly. The first movie took the flashback very seriously and I think that setup made the stakes more real through the whole first movie. The sisters did not feel nearly as dangerous this time. Still had fun with it and will watch it again(just not as much as the 1st)
I saw the 1st in 1993 in theater I enjoyed it, 2022 I enjoyed it. I felt like I was watching Ghostbusters afterlife where the spirit is there and if there isn't a part 3, it did it's job. If only Jim Varney was still around I watch my 2nd childhood film return Ernest scared stupid.
It wasn't a theater size, but it was bigger than a TV movie I think. Like Disney ++ enjoyable but maybe could have had a little more. Definitely good.
As a fan of the original I'm not disappointed with the new one, it was a good movie. I like the original better but that's probably just nostalgia talking
Lmao the movie literally came out like 7 hours ago
I believe them showing the first movie in that one scene was paying homage to Garry and Penny Marshall.
After seeing the beginning it would've been neat to have a Prequel of Hocus Pocus, I really liked the beginning and after that it went downhill.
I think the clip from the first movie was a nod to Garry and Penny Marshall because they have both passed away.
I caught that Keenan nd kel Coolio reference lol
Doug Jones stole both of these movies for me. If they ever do make a third one, I really hope that Billy comes back.
This was a Great Reaction and this movie was fun
It was good but the ending was sad. It should have ended with book being with Winnie when she was reunited with her sisters. yes she gave up the malica mistica magic to be back with her sisters But why have the young new witches have book?! Is it not the DEVIL'S BOOK?!
I really wish and thought that the Sanderson Sisters were going to turn human..I really would of loved that.
It's the exact same format as the old one , But yet .... I wasn't bored .....
Love ❤️ Hocus-pocus I1 and Hocus-pocus 2 there is one mess up on Hocus-pocus 2 is in the beginning the movie the bird flying to the 3 sisters and it was a evil witch and gave them the spell book 📖, , but that's not right because on Hocus-pocus 1 Alison read the plaque and said it's Devil him self gave the book to the sisters! Remember
I still love Sally witch😂😂♥️
Redhead with the green eyes is gorgeous
Has anyone ever told Sally that she looks a lot like Emma Stone.
I loved the actor that played the young Winifred she really caught her mannerisms and bubbly personality
The ending was great too it was so touching. I noticed a few Easter eggs but more references to other movies.
When Gilbert meets the Sanderson sisters again he says I'm the great Gilber The Grey.
The scene where Jeffery, Becca and Izzy are talking before they go to get the candle, Jeffery says are you going to your Secret Circle. Secret circle is
actually another show about witches.
The scene where Winifred says "let's fly
Mary says "on what"? A call back to the last one.
Winifred calls to her book in the same way she did in the original.
Etc.....
Young Winifred was everything!
There's a girl in the flash mobile scene wearing the Madonna costume Max and Dani's mom wore to the Halloween party in the original
@@marahbaker8615 Aweseome!!!!
When Winnie hits the man with the trophy, the ladies who react (Red dresses and gloves) are dressed like a few characters from the first movie. The flash mob has a ton of people dressed like the party goers in the first one.
that actress that plays the Bird witch, is the shame women from game of thrones. had no idea how good looking she was lol.
I thought it was a good enough sequel to the original. I did like how they tied the Sanderson Sisters storyline at the very end. But as some people pointed out, the storyline of the three teen girls lacked some depth. I wish they could’ve explained how Becca inherited her powers since she was the only one to have powers. The bit with the candy apple felt too long and could’ve been cut down.
Will Sally be reacting to more MCU films soon?
This movie was good tons of nostalgia from the original movie the actresses still look good I feel like this movie could of been released in theaters, but I understand why it was on Disney + this movie is a great way to start the month of October and the fall season. I think people are going to love this movie. I'll give this movie an A- it's a good movie and we got to see the back story of the sisters and how they got to be their evil selves and their powers. I really liked the credits it felt like you stepped in the 1997 movie
1993
Billy 🔥🔥🔥
My home got half power an I cannot watch this movie yet. Still waiting for my tv to start working. Hurricane Ian happen to FL
I have those same Blue Sony headphones
my issue with the movie even though i liked it is that they spent too much time repeating iconic lines from the first movie rather than make new iconic lines. A big part of why the first movie was so iconic was the lines the same way that mean girls has so many iconic lines as well.
I loved it. Good, campy, fun.
I kind of wanted to see the 4th sister.
I really like this I enjoyed everything about it
Hannah Waddingham, The Mother Witch, was only in it for five minutes and she was my favorite part. That being said, I am incredibly bitter they didn’t give Hannah ANY SONGS! Her voice is amazing!
And the last scene/post credit scene sets up a movie for a trilogy!
Grew up with the OG one, hope this one is good.
I loved it.
It’s pretty good. If you love this love definitely recommend the All new sequel published back in 2018. A completely different story and I would argue it’s better than this film.
Almost 30 years...29 years in actuality as I have typed this.
Loved the movie. Was just as fun as the first even if it wasn’t as good as it.
I can't wait for hocus pocus 3
YES
Loved the film!
I also want more. I hope original cast is back in 3rd movie.
thora was originally supposed to be in hocus pocus 2 but they filmed it without her
@@Seiko746 yep filming the Wednesday Addams show prevented her from doing Hocus Pocus 2
This was an ok sequel. It started off strong, the beginning was probably my favorite and the witches eating face products. The ending was rather weak and could of been better. The first movie is still the best
I enjoyed that. Funniest scene
