I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!!! When little, I more or less lived at Washington Union.War Of Northern Aggresson history ... as Confederate reenactor I traveled to all the War Of Northern Aggresson sites. Great Vid, Danny! Maj. R.S. Andrews..
So happy to hear you came to my neck of the woods. Never looked into museums in the area, but I’m about 20 mins from Ellicott city so you can bet I’ll visit that museum soon! Thank you!!
This was one of your videos that caught my attention on YT. You see, one of my brothers is an engineer for CSX in JAX. He's in his 25th year now. Even thought I heard him on the scanner when you were up that way. Baltimore is our hometown too. So glad you got to see the Mt. Clare station and yard. Makes me want to go back to it. I enjoy your channel and will check back often. Oh and thanks for the scanner vid. I already had one for airshows but will get the frequencies for trains too. Be safe out there.
Welcome to Baltimore! I'm glad you enjoyed the museum. There is one place that is interesting for rail fanning here, stand on Hamburg street bridge over the CSX line between both stadiums and you can see the entrance to the Howard Street tunnel, which goes under the City of Baltimore along Howard Street exiting at Mount Royal Station.
Great segment. I spent a day there years ago when I was working in Baltimore. There are a number of magnificent locomotives on display. Next time you are in the area drive down to Red Hot and Blues BBQ in Laurel, MD. Best ribs east of Austin.
That Allegheny is huge! definitely the largest locomotives to run in WV on the C&O, I guess they were the largest on the Virginian as well. The Virginian also had Allegheny type locomotives, carbon copies of the C&O but they called their Alleghenies "Blue Ridges" Great video as always, can't wait for your NEC videos.
I love Chessie Systems!! I use to have cats back in my days and I adore cats and when I say that Chessie System Kitten on there I was hooked. lol. Thanks for showing Danny. I should go down there one day :)
when I lived in Delaware I loved visiting the B&O Railroad Museum. In 2008 they offered train rides everyday on the original Stretch of track and I was fortunate enough to get to ride in the locomotive. assuming they're still running that train you should look into that and if you get to talk to the engineer they may let you ride along.
I've only been to the museum here once, and I couldn't even remember how long ago it had to have been by this point. Cool seeing what they have, by this point I definitely have long since forgotten what was inside the roundhouse and outside during the one occasion that I was there. Looking forward to seeing what you got out on the Corridor, every railfan's gotta experience it at least once. Not sure where you went, but Perryville, MD is a great spot to take it all in. The station (with low level platforms) sits at the end of the PRR's massive bridge over the Susquehanna, and right in the middle of the wye where NS's Enola-Baltimore/Delaware Port Road Branch ("branch" being a far from accurate term for it these days) bottoms out onto the Corridor, with CSX on the B&O being a minute or two's drive north. Great action all day long. Anyway, keep em coming, and here's to hoping that the vacation that these videos are all comprised from went well!
If you have not been, something you should check out is the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga, TN. You take a train ride to the are where they restore old locomotives and rail cars. They restore them to original specs and have a shop there where they manufacture parts( obviously the parts are not available anymore) and also the turntable to turn the engine for the return trip.
1:21 I believe you’re mistaken. At the time this video was filmed, there were two museums owned by the B&O Railroad Museum. The large, main one you went to in Baltimore, and another, much smaller one in Ellicott City, MD (Which is NOT a part of Baltimore). Since then, the Ellicott City museum is now operated by the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks
I used to live in Columbia (Near Ellicott City) and didn't even know of the one there.. I'll have to check it out, but yeah - I was thinking... No.. that's in downtown Baltimore, NOT E.C.. :-)
If you'd like to railfan DC Union Station, the subway station at Noma/Gaulladet is an awesome spot. Went there a couple years ago and saw 11 trains in under half an hour
Can't wait to see you railfan the northeast corridor. I really want to ride Amtrak's auto train or there silver service trains over night to Washington DC.
Danny, you should come to Dearborn, MI. and the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, to see the #1601. The only other Allegheny. There are a lot of other railroad stuff there also.
ah, with all due respect, the B&O shops and roundhouse isnt in Ellicot city. That region is referred to as pigtown/ Mt clare junction. Aside from that, magnificent work and coverage of the B&O!
We really enjoy how you explain everything and you great videos and speak so clear! We are glad we found you Mr Danny! Out!

That Big Iron is such a cool design! Great quick video.
I could listen to your voice all day.

Nice video! Can't wait until WMSR finishes their Alleghany 1309; that'll be a must-see. Great coverage of this wonderful museum.
Best Railfan videos on the net Danny. Always anxiously awaiting the next one!

Good advice. Been through Baltimore many times and never knew about this place.

@dannyharmon great video and thank you for visiting the Baltimore and Ohio railroad museum and Baltimore itself because it's my home town.

As usual Danny, your videos leave me wanting more!
I’ve been to the B&O Railroad museum. Definitely worth the trip. Awesome place!

Another awesome video! Thanks.
Great video. I visited last week and this is a great place. The only sad item was seeing the 2101 American Freedom train engine rusting away.
Love it can't wait to see more
Hope you enjoyed your visit! Nice to see you up this way my friend
Wonderful video as always!
I started volunteering there recently and man is it so frickin cool, I'm actually their youngest volunteer xD
2:34 the largest steam engine is actually the UP Big Boys. They were built during WWII at ALCO.
Great video Danny!
Nice video. I've been to Union Station almost 2 years ago. There was an interesting Amtrak cab car sitting in the shops on the regional platform.
yay you were in my area the dmv awesome vid
Used to run the halls and play in the station in Washington.
Great video. I wish they would bring the Freedom Train loco inside and put a coat of paint on her. Very said she is rusting away.
Big steam for sure....
but not quite UP Big Boy big.
Everything is bigger out West.
Wonderful video.
Awesome video Danny Thanks!

You missed the American Freedom Train engine it is also located at the B and O museum. Sad shape, but worth a look.
Great video
great video! the NEC is great! too late for the AEM-7's though.
Nice vid. I see some things hasn't changed on the tracks north of Savannah over the years.

Jon B. Rails Video I live around Novi, a meetup would be great
You have to come back to Baltimore and do the line that runs from Baltimore to glyndon and to western Maryland
The B and O Railroad museum is in Baltimore.
Danny, now you get to see some of CSX's ancestors!
Is that the Herron rail video narrator
Way too short, Danny.

shame on me...I've been to Baltimore three times and never knew this existed..
man you were up here?! dang...
ah, with all due respect, the B&O shops and roundhouse isnt in Ellicot city. That region is referred to as pigtown/ Mt clare junction. Aside from that, magnificent work and coverage of the B&O!
Yes, thank you. I got called out on that error the first day I posted this video. It pays to double check.
Great video. How to you travel from Union Station to Baltimore?
Take the MARC from Union Station to either Penn Station or Camden Station
Wait a tick, did you say 2-6-6....6?
I work there.
Your location of where the B&O Museum is incorrect. Ellicott City is outside of Baltimore. The museum is in downtown Baltimore.
now i get it..now i see why the railroader fanatics are fanatics....
