At 10:35 when Wendy tells dipper to take his hand and winks, that is a reference to "Into the Bunker" when Dipper had to choose which Wendy was the shapeshifter. Here, again, the fake Wendy winked at him, and that's how he knew the Wendy that wanted to date him was fake.
Funnily enough, that was what made me realize it was DEFINITELY a doppelganger. When I first watched the show like a week ago, I thought she was the real Wendy, just caught in the world's trap of "anything you wish for" which is why she is acting a bit strange, but still seemingly realistic. Right up until I saw that wink and my mind flashed back to that one scene with the Mimic, when I KNEW something was wrong since that isn't something she does, unlike the zip motion to "say nothing".
That`s so true. But I think, a perfect prison doesn`t mean that everything is great and fine. If you can achieve and get everything in no time and with no efford there is no meaning in living anymore. A perfect world needs good things but also bad things so that you learn to appreciate the good ones.
There was actually a deleted concept that had Dipper snapping Dippy Fresh's neck after fight breaks out between them. One of the many concepts that Disney deemed "too adult" for a show with episodes like "Into the Bunker" and "Northwest Mansion Mystery." Also, the code is: "WHEN ONE GETS TRAPPED INSIDE THE PAST DREAMS CAN TURN TO NIGHTMARES FAST." Very true.
I kinda feel like that would be a little dark for Dipper, even if the clone isn't real. It's like Batman holding a gun. It just feels wrong. Edit: Now, if he'd asked Mabel for a soda and just used it to dissolve him, on the other hand...
Credits code: "Craz and Xyler went on to run the legal department at a major chhildren's television network" Page code: "When one gets trapped inside the past, Dreams can turn to nightmares fast"
I'm honestly so glad that they spent a good amount of time on Mabelland, because it's so much the theme of the show as a whole-- Mabel and Dipper have spent a lot of the summer on fantasy, in different directions, and like Wendy said last episode, they're the most effective when they're together. It might not be specifically plot moving, but it's *character* moving.
To me, this episode kind of exemplifies the main themes of the whole show. It is about learning to except the things in the past, know that you can’t control the future, and learn to rely on those close to you to get through it. Dipper and Mable are the opposites of Stan and Ford. When things got tough between them, they split up and it took years for them to even talk again and that didn’t end well. Dipper and Mable will always be there for each other. No matter how much they argue or how different they are, they always look out for the other.
Yes! And while it's understandable to be impatient that this entire episode is basically nothing but this plot, this interaction... it's also really fitting for the show to bring Dipper and Mabel together like this. To give a final episode to bringing together some of the main themes that Alex Hirsch meant the show to be about -- growing up too fast, versus being afraid to grow up; strengthening family ties, instead of splitting apart. (There's a quote from him, I think in the DVD commentaries, where he said that all of the plot and the mysteries and the apocalypse -- that's stuff that happens, but it's not *what the show is about*. This here. This is what it's about.) Now we're well set up for Dipper and Mabel to be a unified force going into the finale! Watch out, Bill!
*_Note: Dippy Fresh died on the way back to his home planet._* The code in the credits translates to *"Craz and Xyler went on to run the legal department at a major children's television network."* and the code on the journal page is: *_When one gets trapped inside the past,_* *_Dreams can turn to nightmares fast._* A lot of hate gets piled on Mabel for her unhealthy avoidance behaviour, acting like a much younger child out of fear of growing up. It is important to note that Dipper's obsession with _being_ "grown-up" and "serious", wanting to skip over childhood and become an adult _right now,_ is just as unhealthy, just in the opposite direction. Alex Hirsch noted in the commentaries that Grunkle Ford's offer would have been just as much a destructive psychological trap as Mabelland was for Mabel. It _seems_ like a dream come true, but it would have fed and reinforced all the worst aspects of Dippers personality, stunted his development, and in the end left him as an anti-social recluse, incapable of interacting healthily with the outside world.
I agree with your last paragraph so much! I honestly think Mabel gets too much hate, maybe even from Mosco at times, because of Mabel’s behavior and character traits. But they’re pretty normal traits and behaviors among kids her age in real life, same with Dipper’s obsession with growing up too fast. A lot of people could relate to Mabel’s struggles at some point in their childhoods a lot more than they admit or recognize. And like Mabel or not, she’s a fantastically written and acted character, just like the rest of the cast! She’s done perfectly for what Alex and crew wanted to do for her character. And that makes me appreciate her just as much as her good traits! And it’s fine to not like Mabel, because liking and disliking characters is a personal thing. But when it gets to the level of hating on and bashing characters repeatedly, especially child characters like Mabel, I admit it makes me uncomfortable. It’s like certain fanfiction that was common in the 2000s where you would read it for the shipping or plot, and then suddenly the author would take so much time out of the fic to bash, and even demonize a character, even though it came out of nowhere and broke the flow of the story just so the author could be petty and attack a character they hate. That’s what a lot of the Mabel hate I’ve seen feels like. There’s been some that have made almost hour long videos of why they think Mabel is a bad character and person. It’s just a lot, and I don’t think it’s really deserved. Because it feels like they’re going out of the realm of personal opinion on her, and into trying to justify their opinions as somehow objectively true. I’m not saying Mosco is like any of that, I know she’s just not a fan of Mabel. And she thinks Dipper is treated unfairly, a lot of the time in Mabel’s favor. I don’t disagree with that. Dipper is my favorite, and I still wish he got treated better to this day. But I still feel a little uncomfortable sometimes with how much Mosco hates Mabel, even though it’s irrational for me to feel that way. So as much as this was an overall funny reaction video, as are all of her’s, it got hard to watch sometimes when Mabel was dragged.
@@cloudstrife4534 the main issue is that the show never properly addresses mabel's behaviors the same way it does dipper's, not so much the behaviors themselves. the show treats her character flaws as lovable quirks and she hardly learns any lessons throughout the entire show
I can’t believe I never noticed this before now, but when fake Wendy is trying to convince Dipper to be with her, she winks, and that’s what tips Dipper off that she’s fake, because that was exactly how the Shapeshifter tried to convince him that it was the real Wendy too
Honestly I'm almost more enraged at Dipper's argument being entirely based on the value of the imaginary world vs reality when the fricking apocalypse is happening and people will die, genocide in fact, extinction level event even. I get what the writers were going for, it has strong themes, good conclusion to character arcs but sometimes character-driven stories go too far, they should still acknowledge and be coherent alongside the plot itself. Almost nothing is purely plot driven or character driven, you will always need a balance even if it skews toward one side, and that episode fails in that regard for me.
Codes: "CRAZ AND XYLER WENT ON TO RUN THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT AT A MAJOR CHILDREN'S TELEVISION NETWORK" "WHEN ONE GETS TRAPPED INSIDE THE PAST, DREAMS CAN TURN TO NIGHTMARES FAST."
Honestly it's always nice to revisit this episode. I grew up with Gravity Falls, and a year before this episode aired I lost my dad which put me in a dark place. This episode reminds me that growing up is difficult but that's okay because I and many others have people who love them and are there to help. Always love this episode and the message. Love your reactions!
Yeah, it seemed like she was trying to count the minutes, or something? But she may not realize (??? unless someone's explained it to her before, of course) that a regular episode of a "half hour" show is about 22 minutes; you have to leave time for commercials. (Think about all of those times that we got a shortened opening sequence, just so they could fit in an extra, like, 30 seconds, or 1 minute!) So the final episode is only about 40 minutes or whatever, but it really is 2 episodes' worth of time.
The subtle background cameo of Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty was a nice confirmation that GF, The Owl House, Rick and Morty, and Amphibia all share the same reality.
It's really hard. I think it's selfish to accept a perfect but fake reality if it means leaving the real one behind with all of your loved ones. but if i were forced to experience it for a bit and then asked whether i want to stay or leave, it would be extremely hard to not stay.
Here's one thing about reality that NEEEDS to change and it's this. Society claims that the MOMENT you become an adult, "fun and games have to end immediately." In other words; we're expected to throw everything we love from childhood down the trash from playing with toys, playing make believe, enjoying video games and in THIS case, watching cartoons. But look at Mos...SHE'S an adult and probably does EVERYTHING she'd enjoyed as a kid; going as far as to make that part of her life a career. What rule exists that we have to immediately give up everything from childhood that made us happy? THAT is where I think people like Dipper and Ford are fully in the wrong
I agree with everything except with the "THAT is where I think people like Dipper and Ford are fully in the wrong" part. Dipper and Ford NEVER suggested that to grow up they had to throw what they loved away, Dipper was always invested in mysteries and supernatural, so was Ford, they just decided to take that as their carreers. If anything they are another example that just because you grow up you don't have to give it up.
@@dracoangelrojo I hear ya but in Dipper's case; since the beginning, he seemed so bent on trying to FORCE his way into maturity. He tried to be tough, he tried to pick a fight with a guy twice his size (Robbie,) he insulted Mabel to her face about trick r treating just so he could "look cool" in front of Wendy and his obsession with chest hair (while typical for a preteen boy) seemed cringy to me. At least, Dipper learned his lesson from MOST of this but who knows if he'll keep his word and at least TRY to have some childlike fun while he's on the next weird mystery hunt. As for Ford, it took the near end of existence to make HIM realize his way of doing things was off; especially how he ended things with Stan. I don't want the same thing to happen to Dipper is all
@@SilverScribe85 I won't deny that Dipper did try to force his way into maturity, but you're placing the wrong examples and twisting what happened: Yes, he tried to be tought, because Stan and Mabel bullied him about his masculinity; he did NOT try to pick up a fight with Robbie, it was Robbie who tried to beat him up and threatened him into the fight, remember Dipper didn't want to fight with him and everyone left him to fend for himself, and he definitely NEVER insulted Mabel to her face, for crying out loud, the entire point to lie to Mabel about being sick was to spare her and not hurt her feelings. And the chest hair, again, that was Stan's and Mabel's fault for bullying him, he wasn't obsessed, it was them who brought it up. Dipper has already showed to have childlike fun all the time, just because he has different interests and hobbies than Mabel doesn't mean he isn't. Eh, I would say Stan is equally to blame as Ford on this part. But that's the thing, the reason why fallout between the Stans took place was because of lack of communication and misshandling the situation, specially on Stan's part, and hurting Ford in the process. This is why the kids needed to talk it out, not having poor Dipper being blamed for all the mess and being forced to give up his dreams and future like that. There should have been a compromise, not having him giving up everything for Mabel again. If they don't want to end up like the Stans, they need to start talking and listening to each other, and respect each other, specially on Mabel's part.
If i could have an entire bubble of reality where anything i want could happen and reality is whatever i wanted, im not gonna lie, whether the reality outside was in danger or not, id never leave!
I know she stated what she'll be watching next in the intro but I hope she checks out Amphibia one day. With the Owl House and Gravity Falls it forms like a special trio of 21st century Disney shows. Plus, you know, the shows were worked on by a lot of the same people so there's that.
I think she's mentioned before that she took a look at some of the promotional images of Amphibia and doesn't like the art style. I think she said she may watch it on her own time eventually but not make it into a reaction series. A shame - it's actually my favourite of the three shows, but you can't appeal to everyone after all.
@@stephenhumphreys9149the funny thing is that if she makes it past season one she’s gonna really regret not doing a reaction to it because that show gets nuts
@@residentfan1521 Yup, agree 100%. But I think she'd find the small amount of 'story' episodes in the first season hard going - what's the first line of this video? "Can we get on with the actual story please?" :-)
I would have left my fantasy world, because I know it's not real and it would get pretty boring if everything was perfect and you could have everything you want.
but thats the thing right? itll be exactly like you want it. if you dont want it perfect, it wont be perfect, the world will exactly suit what youd need to have to stay there forever
This was actually my favorite episode for Dipper's speech. I have a lot of struggles with that, particularly conflicts with my family over "fantasy vs. reality" as I tend to fall on Dipper's side of things by wanting people to live in reality but being a little too harsh and not considering their emotions.
More spoiler-free things! (though not much more to spoil anymore) 1. The cat-judge is voiced by John Steward. Alex Hirsch always wanted him in the show somewhere. 2. The is a deleted scene where Dipper and Dippy-fresh interact where Dippy-fresh would say "Dude, your hat is on backwards" before actually flipping it backwards, only for Dipper to respond, "Your HEAD is on backwards" and ACTUALLY BREAKS HIS FREAKING NECK OMG. Needless to say Disney no likey.
* Jon Stewart. Jon was an actual "fan" of the show -- his kids watched it, and he watched it with them. (That was partly because Kristen Schaal was doing Mabel's voice, and at that time, Kristen was one of the "Special Correspondents" on The Daily Show, and thus a friend of his.) So it was a mutual thing, Jon very much wanted to do a voice for the show, but he had a REALLY busy schedule. It's great that he was able to do it before the show's end. (The voice he does for the Judge, the sort of fake Southern accent, is one that he would do on his own show when he was mocking various politicians.)
semi-relevant tangent here. There's an episode of the original The Twilight Zone where a criminal ends up in the afterlife. While there, he gets everything he wants: beautiful women, a big hotel room, delicious food and more. If he gambles, he always wins. If he robs a bank, the police don't stop him. Don't even try. By the end, he is miserable because there is no challenge or anything. As such, he asks to go to "the other place," only to be told, that's where he has been all along.
I laughed so hard when Dippy Fresh first came on screen. Such a huge meta wink at all those old TV shows that introduce a character late in the series and EVERYONE hates that character, I'm looking at you cousin Oliver.
This sort of "trapped in an ideal world" plot is really old (like The Odyssey old) and yet every story that does it has its own take where it doesn't feel cliche. It's just so customizable based on the specifics of character dyanamics and arcs.
Ah yes, Moscoe's personal hell, being trapped in Mabel Land. Anyways, it's sad that this journey is almost over, but it's been a fun time. I'm excited to see what you react to when this is all over :D That being said, I'm super excited for the next episode. The final episode of this show is honestly one of my favourites from any show.
Mosco, you missed the fact that the fake Wendy winked at Dipper, just like the shapeshifter Wendy did in Into the Bunker, which is also how Dipper knew that one was fake,
So, I’ve been waiting til this episode, kind of the heart of Mabel’s arc, to say this. She acts selfishly. More selfishly than the average 12 year old. And she doesn’t face the consequences she should. What I’m about to say doesn’t excuse any of that. However.. this child clearly has major abandonment issues. We have no reason to believe Dipper and Mabel’s parents play a part in that, besides perhaps that they only called to check in on their kids once all summer, when the Gideon stole the Mystery Shack and it made the news (at least that we see) but everything in Mabel’s behavior, from the extreme and immediate attachment to Waddles, to the boy craziness (attention and affection seeking at its core,) trying to reinvent the personalities of herself and the people around her in order to fit in or keep things the same, and the intense reaction of fear to the prospect of change, and feeling abandoned by her brother and friends, leading to the ultimate withdrawal and denial in this episode, it is undeniable. Despite that, she does in fact always want the best for her family, and ultimately has the greatest ability of the characters in this show to have faith in others. I say this not really to defend Mabel, but just to acknowledge that her emotions in this moment aren’t really in her control. And honestly, I see a fair bit of my younger self in her, at least in the ways of insecurity, and going to insane lengths to try and keep that security, like writing a sock opera, or sometimes taking my loved ones for granted. I grew out of it. And Mabel can too.
You are absolutely right, but honestly, they misshandled her completely. Her feelings are understandable, but it doesn't justify her actions, and she gets rewarded for them and the narrative paints her in the right...after everything she just did.
@@curtismurphy6206 How about if you start with stop stalking and disrespecting people who think different of you, bud? And yes, she faced no consequences for her actions, and therefore she didn't develope as a character. Considering this is a tv show based on growing up and Mabel being the co-protagonist, it's a huge flaw that she didn't grow at all, when that was supposed to be her arc that she never did in the first place.
@@dracoangelrojo I don't understand how you can say "she didn't grow at all" when the entire premise of this episode is Dipper slowly convincing Mabel to recognise her bad behaviour (Her selfish tendency to pursue her own happiness without considering the effects this has on other people) and move on from it. Her growth is *especially* noticeable when you consider that she was probably under some sort of spell/trance while in Mabel-Land that took away some of her agency ('Wait, why is everything so bright? Have I been listening to the same song all week?") -- her selfishness was being reinforced by Bill's magic, and she *still* managed to overcome it by the end of the episode! I'm not saying she's a perfectly written character or anything, but you're giving her arc way too little credit imo.
A scene was planned in which Dippy Fresh would tell Dipper that is hat is wrong and would turn Dippers hat, Dipper would then sag that Dippy Fresh‘s head is wrong and would turn Dippy Fresh‘s head around killing him. But yeah Disney didn‘t allow it.
About the question about whether I'd stay in a perfect version of my world or go back to reality, there is a fairly logical answer as to how that would turn out: In a perfect world, things would ideally be that you got what you wanted when you wanted it - so you could learn to be a concert pianist in 20 seconds, there'd be no rainy days, etcetera - right? Though his may sound great at first, things would start to get boring and maybe even a little depressing. We appreciate the good things in life because there will always be bad things to compare them to. The point of life is that there's always a struggle to reach a goal and that's what keeps life interesting. Sorry if this is a bit long 😂. I'm really into these sorts of psychological concepts. Anyhow, really enjoyed the video! Keep it up!

This episode: a lovely message for the kids about how growing-up doesn't have to be scary if you have support Next episode: fight to the death (?) with a tyrannical triangle demon... It's a shame that the codes are shown at the end before the episode finishes; so many reactors are busy grabbing them so miss some of the great jokes at the end of episodes (no shade intended towards you, just the observation of a veteran GF Reaction watcher). I guess back in 2012 the creators wouldn't have known about 'reactors' - they weren't really a thing yet... I've mentioned it a couple of times, but would highly recommend JelloApocalypse's video 'So This is Basically Gravity Falls'. It's a five mins or so humorous skit recapping the series. Mosco - I think you would get a kick out of it, and your viewers would get a kick out of seeing you react to it.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the Multi-bear is voiced by Alfred Molina, better known for playing Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Living in a world where you get everything you wish for is like playing a game with massive cheats. It's fun initially, but it pretty quickly loses all sense of fun and accomplishments when there's no longer any challenges.
But after all, if you want, you can even having cheats make your game more interesting in one way or another. The same minecraft in the "creative" mode has great potential for self-expression. It's the same here. Mabelland will get bored - build another city without any losses or anything else
Well... the last episode is basically 2 episodes in length. That would be approx. 42 minutes or so. (Because a "half hour" show on American television is always shorter, around 22 minutes give or take, so that the channel can run commercial breaks. So a 1 hour show doesn't contain 60 full minutes of actual show. Unfortunately!)
Yeah, I can relate to that thumbnail and title... I would be much more sympathetic towards Mabel if the world around her didnt end while she was living in her fake reality.
11:08 I know it's an Eminem reference/joke, but my mind immediately went to The Locked Tomb series lol Cursed be this eternal brainrot. people who've read Harrow the Ninth will understand.
Most SF shows (including Star Trek, Stargate, thd Matrix, and SeaQuest) have an episode where they explore a planet with advanced VR tech, and everyone has chosen to just stay in VR permanently, typically leading to the downfall of reality. This is very similar to Mabel's bubble.
I can't answer if I would come back to reality or not, but I have known for some time that if I had super powers I would be a super villain, not because I want to do bad, but because I would want to fix the world and I'm impatient with people.
Depends if that world was an illusion created by some evil dude or just another world. If it's just another world and nothing's holding me here, I'd propably stay there. Also: This whole story is basically Dipper being an amazing brother and Mabel being a crappy sister that mostly just does things for him if she has something to gain from it.
Sad but true, this episode the living proof of it. Seriously, Mabel replacing Dipper, refusing to help him and their friends and family, sending him to a trial to actively kick him out into the apocalypse, and she only backtracks once she gets what she wanted, which was Dipper giving up the apprenticeship. It feels so manipulative and cruel. I know the message they were trying to send, but they delivered it in a terrible way: Mabel was a huge jerk and a brat in this episode towards her friends and family, refuses to save the town, and forces her brother to choose between his future and dreams OR her in the middle of the end of the world, which should have never happened in the first place, and once she gets what she wanted, that's the only point where she accepts, and then she gets away scott free. Again, the message was good, the executtion was terrible and toxic and misshandles the main themes of the series. This is why to me it's the worst episode of the series.
@@dracoangelrojojust know the best thing Mabel did to him is convince him to give up ford's offer literally even Alex himself says Fords offer was the worst and would've broken dipper Alex literally says this about Ford in the dvd commentary "Ford’s great flaw is arrogance. He believes that there are special people, and everyone else… …That human attachments are actually weaknesses. The song and dance that he’s giving Dipper here is the exact song and dance that he gave McGucket back when they were younger - ‘You and I are different. We’re better than everyone else. We have a path that no one else can understand. No one else can do this.’ It’s a very seductive idea for Dipper, but he starts to be a little insecure. He kind of can’t believe it, and he’s sort of right to be suspicious, because while Dipper is a smart kid, Ford is projecting. Ford loves Dipper because he sees someone who will tell him ‘yes’ to everything, who will never challenge him, and who will do a really insane, dangerous mission. I know there are some fans who are like ‘Oh, this is a great offer! Dipper should just become a mystery hunter for the rest of his life, not go to high school, not go to college, not be around kids his age…’ But if Dipper had taken the apprenticeship, he probably would have gone the way of McGucket - Turned into a kind of insane, paranoid hermit with no friends, and just kind of losing his mind. So, it is a seductive offer, but ultimately, Dipper needs to try to learn not to grow up too fast.” I've commented this multiple times but it ticks me off when people consider Fords offer as good because it isn't and it never will be it's an awful offer that dipper should've just declined right away
@@lucidifying You are talking as if Mabel threatning Dipper to give up the apprenticeship was done as a favor to Dipper and having his interest in thought when it was never the case, as if Mabel wasn't entirely doing that for her own benefit. Mabel didn't convince Dipper, she FORCED Dipper to give up the apprenticeship to convince her to come out of the bubble or she would throw him out in the end of the world. That's not convincing and it's not a good thing, it's incredibly toxic. It's DIPPER'S choice to stay, NOT Mabel's, and she has no right to take that decision or make it from him, and NO one has the right to force someone to choose between dreams and family, and very less during the end of the world. Alex's word is one thing, the show's writing is another. Alex also says that neither Filbrick nor Preston were abusives and loved their kids, which as we saw in the show, is bullcrap. The show's writing is more important than Alex's word, specially if it's contradicted. I don't need you to tell me what Alex said in the commentary, I heard it myself years ago when it came out and I bought it myself, thank you very much. And I'm sorry, but Alex's words and his writing are completely opposite things: First of all, he claims Ford only loves Dipper because he says yes to everything he does, as in if Dipper was just an extention of his ego, which is downright not true, we've seen this man SACRIFICING himself JUST to protect these kids, and respecting their wishes. Second of all, he claims that Dipper would end up like Mcgucket, ignoring that Mcgucket's downfall was Mcgucket's own fault, remember that it was him who dealt with the trauma wrong by creating the memory gun, IGNORED Ford's warnings to destroy it as it could cause brain damage, and Fiddleford, instead of listening to his friend who was trying to protect him, USED said weapon against anyone he wished to, Ford included, and then created the Society of the Blind Eye, and proceeded to force people to forget against their will and causing an entire town brain damage. Mcgucket going insane was his own fault and were his own flaws, which have nothing to do with Dipper's personality or flaws. Third of all, Alex talks as if the best alternative for Dipper is going back to school, when in the show, we have LITTERALLY seen Dipper being bullied and outcasted for years in those flashbacks, and Dipper claimed already how no one believes him and treats him like crazy because of the supernatural. Going back home where you get bullied and treated like a freak and forbidden to study what you love and for being yourself is NOT healthy, whereas Gravity Falls has given Dipper EVERYTHING he needed: friends like Soos, Wendy, Pacífica, the multibear, etc, mysteries that he loves, an entire town and mysteries to explore, his grunkles, one of them his hero, a chance to study and live from what he loves to do, if anything staying would have been perfect to him, and there were many ways he could have made it work out with Mabel, like chatting, videochatting, Dipper taking the apprenticeship during the summers, Mabel staying, there were MANY ways they could have solved this without separating the twins. Alex valuing a "regular common childhood" over Dipper's actual happiness doesn't help or make him in the right, if anything, it makes him a hypocrite, since he spends the ENTIRE show preaching about how good it is to be weird, only to turn around and say "nah, Dipper needs to be normal already and suck it up". Proclaiming Dipper has to give up his dreams and his happiness to make Mabel happy and for the sake of being normal goes against the theme of the show and is a terrible toxic message. Ford's offer is NOT awful and it will never be, just because it goes against Mabel's wishes and it's not the regular way to study doesn't make it awful. I'm sick and tired of people dismissing Dipper's dreams and aspirations and portraying Ford like the bad guy just because he was the only one actually supporting Dipper.
1:29 Heck yeah Infinity Train! That's a good show! Although I gotta say, the episodes are a bit short! I know some reactors did 2 episodes per video because of that! I mean, you do what you want, obviously! Just pointing that out! Either way I'm looking forward to those!
Dipper asks, “What do you know about Bill Cipher?” the Axolotl responds with a poem: "Sixty degrees that comes in threes. Watches from within birch trees. Saw his own dimension burn. Misses home and can't return. Says he's happy. He's a liar. Blame the arson for the fire. If he wants the shirk the blame. He'll have to invoke my name. One way to absolve his crime. If I remember right, the last episode is double-length - 44mins, instead of the usual 22mins (some places even list these as episodes 20 and 21 for this reason) So dw about the finale being rushed, they had plenty of time, imo

Dippy Fresh was the final push over the line of making me hate Mabel. Replacing her brother was too much. Even more so when the "more supportive" version is just one that does whatever she want when she wants. That's not support, that's a pet.
Realize at the end she kinda snaps out a trance saying she doesn't get why it's so bright and why she was listening to that one song playing over and over she was obviously in a trance of some sort that kinda threw away ALL her common sense
@lucidifying That's not magic though, that's delusion. We call that the honeymoon period, where something seems amazing while ignoring the not-so-great parts. Remember, Bill can't control someone without making a Deal. Transform them, maybe, but not make then do stuff against their wishes.
I'll be the one to say it. You're all grown ass adults debating on why you should like/hate of fictional 12-year-old girl. Get your life together people😂
My perfect world *wouldn't* let me wish anything into existence. It would be ever expanding and I would have multiple progression systems (like a game) allowing me to unlock new and cool things. But, I would *only* go there if the people I care about could as well.
I don't know if I would come back from that situation cause I still don't know what it is I really want though if the bubble could tell me probably not.
If I got to be in my own perfect reality I don't think think I would ever come back. I might if someone I loved needed help but other than that they'd have a hard time getting me back to the real world.
I'm late to watching this reaction since tbh I was reluctant knowing how much you'd absolutely hate this episode (Edit: honestly not as bad as I thought it might be, things are always worse in my head). But gotta support one of my favorite reactors, looking forward to future stuff, love you!
It’s funny you mentioned Harley Quinn in THIS episode, Mosco. The Batman Animated Series actually had its own “Mabel-Land,” giving Bruce Wayne a reality where there were no villains, he and Selina Kyle (Catwoman) were a healthy couple, and best of all, his parents were alive. It was paradise, he had all he wanted, but, it was an illusion created by the Mad Hatter. It still interests me to this day that this villain went out of his way to give his enemy all he wanted. And to answer the question? I….I dunno if a world with EVERYTHING I’d want would interest me. Because, sometimes I don’t know what I want, and other times, I think I’d get really bored. Maybe if I could freely travel between worlds with no consequences, my answer would be different.
I would come back to reality. Oh, I'd stay in wish world and have fun for a while, but at the end of the day I'm a healer. I'd have no purpose there, and a life of pleasure without purpose would pale quickly.
Cool fact, the judge in this was voiced by the former Daily Show hoast John Stewart. Also the last episode is twice as long. Technically two episodes back to back. Credits code: CRAZ AND XYLER WENT ON TO RUN THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT AT A MAJOR CHILDREN'S TELEVISION NETWORK. Numbers: WHEN ONE GETS TRAPPED INSIDE THE PAST DREAMS CAN TURN TO NIGHTMARES FAST
Hard to say if its made by my perception and imagination it can only go so far before I run out of capability to imagine and maybe get boring . If its a literally copy of actual reality that can act independent of my will and im basically swimming through life easy with godly authority over it and dominion over all and everything posible and impossible id gladly stay.
There was a deleted scene where Dippy Fresh turned Dipper’s hat backwards, and in response, Dipper turned Dippy Fresh’s head backwards
"Hey, your hat is on backwards!"
"YOUR HEAD IS ON BACKWARDS"
I wish they had been allowed to leave that in.
I hate that it was removed but I get why
there's actually a storyboard somewhere of dipper snapping dippy fresh's neck somewhere on youtube
I'm gonna guess it wasn't S&P approved
At 10:35 when Wendy tells dipper to take his hand and winks, that is a reference to "Into the Bunker" when Dipper had to choose which Wendy was the shapeshifter. Here, again, the fake Wendy winked at him, and that's how he knew the Wendy that wanted to date him was fake.
That's pretty interesting.
And for some reason, both winked with their right eye, while the real Wendy uses her left.
I never noticed that after 5 rewatches.
Cool
Funnily enough, that was what made me realize it was DEFINITELY a doppelganger. When I first watched the show like a week ago, I thought she was the real Wendy, just caught in the world's trap of "anything you wish for" which is why she is acting a bit strange, but still seemingly realistic. Right up until I saw that wink and my mind flashed back to that one scene with the Mimic, when I KNEW something was wrong since that isn't something she does, unlike the zip motion to "say nothing".
It's a really interesting concept: the perfect prison is a prison that the prisoner doesn't want to leave.
That`s so true. But I think, a perfect prison doesn`t mean that everything is great and fine. If you can achieve and get everything in no time and with no efford there is no meaning in living anymore. A perfect world needs good things but also bad things so that you learn to appreciate the good ones.
To quote Wembly Fraggle on another great children's show, "I guess some slavery feels like freedom."
A perfect prison is one which convinces you that you are already free
Depends. Are you imprisoning someone as punishment or to actually prison them? Many view it as the former.
It's like Norway
There was actually a deleted concept that had Dipper snapping Dippy Fresh's neck after fight breaks out between them. One of the many concepts that Disney deemed "too adult" for a show with episodes like "Into the Bunker" and "Northwest Mansion Mystery."
Also, the code is:
"WHEN ONE GETS TRAPPED INSIDE THE PAST DREAMS CAN TURN TO NIGHTMARES FAST." Very true.
That finale is THE best episode of the show.
Oh wow. I didn't know about that deleted scene
I can't believe THAT'S where they drew the line.
Oh, I love that.
I kinda feel like that would be a little dark for Dipper, even if the clone isn't real. It's like Batman holding a gun. It just feels wrong.
Edit: Now, if he'd asked Mabel for a soda and just used it to dissolve him, on the other hand...
Let's see how many people tell her about Dipper and Dippy Fresh's deleted scene. Going to be a lot, for sure
'twill be right up there with The Tragedy of Viggo Mortensen's Toe ^_~
Credits code: "Craz and Xyler went on to run the legal department at a major chhildren's television network"

*_Note: Dippy Fresh died on the way back to his home planet._*
The code in the credits translates to *"Craz and Xyler went on to run the legal department at a major children's television network."* and the code on the journal page is:
*_When one gets trapped inside the past,_*
*_Dreams can turn to nightmares fast._*
A lot of hate gets piled on Mabel for her unhealthy avoidance behaviour, acting like a much younger child out of fear of growing up.
@@cloudstrife4534 the main issue is that the show never properly addresses mabel's behaviors the same way it does dipper's, not so much the behaviors themselves. the show treats her character flaws as lovable quirks and she hardly learns any lessons throughout the entire show
Just like Ford......
@@cloudstrife4534 she doesn't get enough hate
I can’t believe I never noticed this before now, but when fake Wendy is trying to convince Dipper to be with her, she winks, and that’s what tips Dipper off that she’s fake, because that was exactly how the Shapeshifter tried to convince him that it was the real Wendy too
I have a feeling Mosco won't like this episode...
yeah lmao
Call it a hunch lol
Yeah I think she won't like this too
The thumbnail was perfect: her face and the multiple Mabels
I like it but Mabel is still annoying. Dipper would have been a perfect apprentice.
fun fact: there was a shout out to this episode in The Owl House, King said in an early episode he always wanted a chair made out of people.
I'm already feeling the unfathomable rage she's gonna go through this episode.
Codes:
"CRAZ AND XYLER WENT ON TO RUN THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT AT A MAJOR CHILDREN'S TELEVISION NETWORK"
"WHEN ONE GETS TRAPPED INSIDE THE PAST, DREAMS CAN TURN TO NIGHTMARES FAST."
Moscos personal hell: Mabel Land.
In case you're worried that there's not enough time to wrap things up.... the final episode is double length.
@@MacTechG4Doesn't confirm anything. It can just be an Easter egg.
It's really hard. I think it's selfish to accept a perfect but fake reality if it means leaving the real one behind with all of your loved ones. but if i were forced to experience it for a bit and then asked whether i want to stay or leave, it would be extremely hard to not stay.
also i love the credits scene it feels like a smack to the face it's really funny.
Stan said it best "Just because you have to grow up means you don't have to grow up, you know?"
@@jaxcraft2848 Exactly!
He also said he's almost 70 and STILL eats ice cream for dinner
I don't want the same thing to happen to Dipper is all
@@SilverScribe85 I won't deny that Dipper did try to force his way into maturity, but you're placing the wrong examples and twisting what happened:
Yes, he tried to be tought, because Stan and Mabel bullied him about his masculinity; he did NOT try to pick up a fight with Robbie, it was Robbie who tried to beat him up and threatened him into the fight, remember Dipper didn't want to fight with him and everyone left him to fend for himself, and he definitely NEVER insulted Mabel to her face, for crying out loud, the entire point to lie to Mabel about being sick was to spare her and not hurt her feelings.
That last scene answered the age-old question, "Does a bear shit in the woods?" Guess not!
Dipper and Mabel’s relationship is the story, everything else is b plot.
7:42 sometimes it’s nice to know that there was a deleted scene of Dipper snapping dippy fresh’s neck
@@BlazeRKGK TRUEEEE!
This was actually my favorite episode for Dipper's speech. I have a lot of struggles with that, particularly conflicts with my family over "fantasy vs. reality" as I tend to fall on Dipper's side of things by wanting people to live in reality but being a little too harsh and not considering their emotions.
Weirdmageddon Part 3 is what really matters. Because here, they don't even HAVE a plan to take down Bill.
This is part of the actual story. Mabel learning to grow up is very essential for them as characters to grow.
You know it's a good show when you have to constantly remind yourself that it's a kids show😅
More spoiler-free things! (though not much more to spoil anymore)
As such, he asks to go to "the other place," only to be told, that's where he has been all along.
that's one of the best ones
I laughed so hard when Dippy Fresh first came on screen. Such a huge meta wink at all those old TV shows that introduce a character late in the series and EVERYONE hates that character, I'm looking at you cousin Oliver.
15:33 😢Here I Am 4 Years Later Crying Over How Beautiful This Sibling Montage Is. 😊
6:32 persona 5 royal explored this idea. I feel i would choose to come back to reality. In a world where everything is perfect, nothing matters
This sort of "trapped in an ideal world" plot is really old (like The Odyssey old) and yet every story that does it has its own take where it doesn't feel cliche. It's just so customizable based on the specifics of character dyanamics and arcs.
Namely because you get the chance to really delve into the character who's trapped and their relationships.
The Sartre comment at the end is probably my favorite part from this entire finale. It's just so out of left field
Very well said!
You are absolutely right, but honestly, they misshandled her completely. Her feelings are understandable, but it doesn't justify her actions, and she gets rewarded for them and the narrative paints her in the right...after everything she just did.
Oh give it a rest with the " no consequences for her actions" sh*t
Saw the thumbnail on your Patreon. You're watching "Take Back the Falls" all in 1 video? YES!
About the question about whether I'd stay in a perfect version of my world or go back to reality, there is a fairly logical answer as to how that would turn out:
In a perfect world, things would ideally be that you got what you wanted when you wanted it - so you could learn to be a concert pianist in 20 seconds, there'd be no rainy days, etcetera - right? Though his may sound great at first, things would start to get boring and maybe even a little depressing. We appreciate the good things in life because there will always be bad things to compare them to. The point of life is that there's always a struggle to reach a goal and that's what keeps life interesting.
Sorry if this is a bit long 😂. I'm really into these sorts of psychological concepts. Anyhow, really enjoyed the video! Keep it up!

Mosco, the last episode is a full hour. So, they have more time than you think.
Well... the last episode is basically 2 episodes in length. That would be approx. 42 minutes or so. So a 1 hour show doesn't contain 60 full minutes of actual show. Unfortunately!)

The concept of this episode is an important topic that not enough kids shows talk about.
I can't answer if I would come back to reality or not, but I have known for some time that if I had super powers I would be a super villain, not because I want to do bad, but because I would want to fix the world and I'm impatient with people.
damn this brings back memories
@@dracoangelrojojust know the best thing Mabel did to him is convince him to give up ford's offer literally even Alex himself says Fords offer was the worst and would've broken dipper
Alex literally says this about Ford in the dvd commentary
"Ford’s great flaw is arrogance. So, it is a seductive offer, but ultimately, Dipper needs to try to learn not to grow up too fast.”
I've commented this multiple times but it ticks me off when people consider Fords offer as good because it isn't and it never will be it's an awful offer that dipper should've just declined right away
And I'm sorry, but Alex's words and his writing are completely opposite things:
First of all, he claims Ford only loves Dipper because he says yes to everything he does, as in if Dipper was just an extention of his ego, which is downright not true, we've seen this man SACRIFICING himself JUST to protect these kids, and respecting their wishes.
Dipper asks, “What do you know about Bill Cipher?”
the Axolotl responds with a poem:
"Sixty degrees that comes in threes.
Watches from within birch trees.
Saw his own dimension burn.
Misses home and can't return.
Says he's happy. He's a liar.
Blame the arson for the fire.
If he wants the shirk the blame.
He'll have to invoke my name.
One way to absolve his crime.
A different form, a different time."
8:54 those are actually some good words to live by. Mabel could be a motivational speaker.
SEASON 3: DIPPY FRESH SPIN OFF!!!
Mable-Land is a Mosco's worst nightmare.😆
0:17 Love the Eminem Reference 😂😂😂😂😂
The beginning intro was adorable lol
Credits code 1: Vigenare key: Craz and Xyler went on to run the Legal Department at major children’s television network (key: Dippyfresh)
Credits code 2: combined cipher from all season 1 codes: When one gets trapped inside the past, dreams can turn to nightmares fast.
A world that satisfies your every need would be like being on drugs 24/7, without any withdrawals. I'dont think many people could resist that.
7:27 his name should have been The Fresh Dipper Of Mabeland
If I remember right, the last episode is double-length - 44mins, instead of the usual 22mins (some places even list these as episodes 20 and 21 for this reason)
So dw about the finale being rushed, they had plenty of time, imo
or one episode left if you saw this the way TV did
Also Cypher Hunt and the Pilot
You can only see these on UA-cam but after this series ended, Alex hosted a real life scavenger hunt with clues hidden all over the world where fans tracked down a real life sculpture of Bill Cypher with the prize of "If you complete the hunt I'll release the pilot episode" The Bill Sculpture is still on display at an IRL location and the footage of fans hunting for it is uploaded.
beyond this there are also the chibi shorts which is a crossover for all the popular Disney shows all together in a cute non-canon way
Dippy Fresh was the final push over the line of making me hate Mabel. Replacing her brother was too much. Even more so when the "more supportive" version is just one that does whatever she want when she wants. That's not support, that's a pet.
Gets even worse if you consider every episode in which Dipper sacrificed something important to him for Mabel.
@@eddiecactus1085you are seeing only one side of the situation
I'll be the one to say it. You're all grown ass adults debating on why you should like/hate of fictional 12-year-old girl. Get your life together people😂
12:19 I Want A Dippy Fresh Punching Bag! 😠😡👊💥
Well well, you've reached the final episode, it's crying time
I would only stay in a world like that if the real versions of my closest friends were there with me.
Hi Mosco! I can't belive your Gravity Falls reactions have two episodes left! I hope you see Steven Universe at one point :)
dude if reality was okay and I was in fantasy world? ...I would probably still come back because I have people I left behind.
11:39 AND THE BUBBLE IS CALLED MABELAND! 😡
I mean Owl House proved alot can go down in one big episode
My man got his woodpecker wife turned to stone on his shoulder!
2 episodes left. Part 3 and 4, episodes 20 and 21.
But originally broadcast as one double-length episode. I hope she watches them together!
14:18 I See No Blue Pills, Only Blue Tears. 😢
09:36 Wait but that's already my life
Elijah would appear in Mosco's bubble. XD
The worlds already in danger, so if possible I would take my friends and family to the fantasy world and never come back
The cat-judge is Jon Stewart.
9:26 That Would Be Dipper.
10:05 honestly I wouldn't come back. I'd stay in my new fiction place if I can plus I get powers
You're in Hell with Mabel
Yet in Heaven with Catra
How laughable . . . hahaha I chortle in rapturous glee
3:16 good timing xd
I few semesters ago I wrote a paper in my Kinesiology class about the escaping reality, the dangers of when fantasies become reality (I got a 99).
