Filming this video proved to be quite a challenge, and I had anticipated more action considering the time I spent in the field. It served as a valuable reminder that even though there is an abundance of wildlife around me, patience and dedication are crucial allies for achieving success in this pursuit. And, of course, a fair share of luck may also play a significant role. 😄
🙌🙌 glad you liked it! This one took a while to put together but I learned a lot. Thanks for watching and the supportive comment! Always appreciated thank you!
It was one of those moments where you put a lot of effort in at the start and you think its just a bad day or you need to give it a bit more time. But then....weeks go by and you can't quit because you are in too deep. fast forward a few months and you're ready to build your own eagles nest and film puppet eagles acting out the action instead. Happy to pull it all together into one episode. lol
@@MattShannonPhoto I began following the hawks in my area in 2015, when my longest lens was only 150mm. I didn’t give up, and the months went on and on. Amazingly a few young ones allowed me to come close, so close you would thought I was in a zoo.
How the heck do you not have 100,000 subscribers? The videos are top tier from start to finish in terms of pacing, presentation, audio, and education. I have learned ALOT since I have started to watch.
Made my day thank you! I hope with time the channel will take off but until then, I appreciate the encouragement!! These are the comments that keep me up at night because I am excited about filming the next adventure and sharing it with you. I have a list of episodes but I'm open to any suggestions 🙂. Thank you for the support!
I think it is important to try and film and capture all the wildlife and landscape I see during my adventures even if the focus is of a particular species or landmark. Seeing the type of flowers that are out, fruit or berries in the trees and bushes, level of water in a river….all of it is important to add to the story. Thanks for mentioning that! We are on the same page 🙂
Thank you! There are a lot of eagles here and I was expecting a lot of action....but during nesting season it was slow 😄. I didn't expect this video to take so long to make. Thanks for watching another video of mine. See you on the next one, cheers!
Another quality video Matt, Your time and dedication is certainly paying rewards, Your effort to capture the scene in the moment makes the videos even more entertaining,Keep up the great work and thankyou once again!
Much appreciated, thank you! I'm loving the video process and story telling. I am learning a lot a trying new things but I am happy it is paying off. I also have exceptional viewers like yourself who are super supportive which helps. Thank you! Feedback is always appreciated.
Prime real estate these eagle nests have on Vancouver Island. A structure of that size must be worth half a Mill. Unless it is build on an old growth tree then its worth millions.
Thank you so much! I didn’t expect this video to take so long gathering content over the months but it was fun. Your profile name has photography in the title. What kind of photography do you do/shoot/take?
@@MattShannonPhoto I’m a professional landscape photographer. I haven’t done much wildlife except when the opportunity presents itself but it’s starting to peak my interest more 😉 I just started my YT channel so your channel is inspiring me as I learn to create content.
Another great video! I've been tracking a few bald eagles at Lake Virette, near Napoleonville, LA. I haven't located a nest yet - it's surrounded by such a large area of thick forest, it could take a while. I'm am shooting lots of pics along the way, though! The locals I've spoken to. have seen up to 5 eagles at a time. My record is three adults fishing at the same time. Such a thrill photographing these amazing birds!!
great video and wonderful photos. I'll be on Campbell River on late september with a friend, we'll do one of those grizzly bear watching tours. We enjoy wildlife photography, even though we're on the very beginner level still. We'll have one free morning and afternoon on Campbell River, have you got any tips for wildlife on that area? Any places to go search for eagles perhaps, or maybe seals? greetings from Brazil
Loving your content ! Keep it up. Any thoughts on the 500 F4 VR2? Not the FL which u seem to have. Looking for a more budget-friendly F4 option. Pre-ordered the Z 180-600 as I think that will help a lot of the time, but when u are in low light situations there seems to be no substitute for wider apertures.

Exceptional! Those are some stellar eagle nests, wow. The size of them is amazing.
Every one of them is amazing! It blows my mind how some of them survive huge wind storms along the coast here.

Super lucky! Thanks for the comment. I am envious of your profile picture of the two bears.
