Thanks Oleg & Bond for another great review! Objectively, and on paper as well, there is not a better watch overall for less than $250-$300 than the Mako or Ray II. The size, features, accuracy, & look give it a winning combo that would be perfect if it had a sapphire crystal. Seiko has a incredibly loyal fan base who will proclaim the SKX the best diver value on the planet, period. I can understand this kind of loyalty, as despite it's shortcomings, I love my Vostok Amphibia Scuba Dude despite it's quirks, wobbly crown, acrylic crystal, & bi-directional friction based bezel. I bought my Orient Mako II for it's features on paper, but over time fell in love with just how well it does everything and how good it feels on your wrist. Hacking & hand winding are incredibly important to me, as those are features I use every few days with my regular rotation watches. I can overlook the shortcomings of the SKX's 7s26 mvt in my $50 SNK809, but not in a $200 diver. But again, the intangibles of the SKX make it incredibly popular across the spectrum with watch collectors, where even people who have Rolex Submariners & Omega Seamaster POs, also have the SKX right next to them in their watch case. IMO, there is one final advantage I see for the Mako II; that it appears slightly more civilized, with a more refined & subdued look over the SKX, make it a better dual purpose watch doubling as your dress watch during the week in the office, and also your weekend sports watch as well. If you are one of those that thinks the SKX is the greatest thing since sliced bread, then more power to you, and it has earned it's loyal following over the years, but if you're not sold on the Seiko, the Orient Mako II (or Ray II) is an all around great watch worth considering, that works well as your only watch, and can be yours for under $150 bucks!
Thank you my friend. You make some great points. SKX is an icon and as you pointed out it also has a very loyal fanbase. It's a great watch and deserves all of that attention. I personally love mine. But I do agree with all of your points. Mako II has better specs and I also love the design. It's a much more versatile watch and can be worn casually with ease. I bought this Orient because of the suggestions I got from you guys. I wasn't expecting much from it. But after spending this month with it I absolutely love it and I think it's for sure the best diver watch for under $150. All the best, Oleg and Bond.
I literally just ordered a Pepsi bezel version of this and a 22mm nice silicon strap for it (I'm not a huge bracelet guy). Was contemplating an SXK009K1 (Pepsi bezel) but after wanting an Orient Bambino, I needed a diver and saw that Orient made one similar to Seiko. Add in manual wind and hacking with this (which the SKX doesn't have) and I was sold. :) Great review!
Hey Bond and of course Oleg. Good review as always. I don't have a Mako 2 but have an orange dial Ray 2 and I love it. Great watch and very accurate. I put mine on a black and orange leather strap and I think it looks pretty good. Haven't been swimming in it but I have my Invicta Pro Diver for that, which is tough to beat for value for money. Orient is by far my watch of choice (I have the Ray 2 and two Orient Star's). Enjoy the Mako my friend ⌚
Thank you Chris. I have gone swimming with mine and it handed it really well. Interesting choice of the orange dial, by the way. Very cool. All the best, Oleg and Bond.
Great size, great movement and esp like the sunburst blue dial version. A friend of mine has had an SKX for years - long before I got into watches - and as soon as I saw it I thought: “what a dull watch”. I still don’t like it - sorry! The Mako ii might not have the heritage of the SKX or the iso certification but it just looks a more pleasing looking watch in my opinion.
The Orient is definitely more versatile and goes with everything. Whenever I wear mine out I get compliments. In 20 years from now it will be an icon. All the best, Oleg.
I have the blue ray 2 and I love it, nice sunburst dial and good looking general watch usable for many occasions. Time accuracy is impressive for the price, mine is consistently +5 seconds per day. Movement is what made this a clear winner for its price range. The tight bezel turn and small crown is what I dont like too but very small issue as I am able to turn it after getting used to it. I dont care about the iso dive certification since I dont know how to swim and most likely not going to test its water resistance lol but this watch survived showers and running water rinse so Im happy already.
Two particular points of interest form me compared to the current Seiko SRPD models (successors to the SKX, basically): the "sloping" bezel surely makes it less grippy, but also makes the Orient looks thinner; and it's less expensive and does more than 100 metres.
With SKX out of proportion for a while prices are over $300. You can get two Ray ii and/or Mako ii watches for that price with a six or eight piece NATO straps package on the side at $15 or $16. Plus a superior movement.
Hi Oleg, first time that I can’t agree with you! Yes for under 150,- it’s a really excellent diver (I owned a black Mako II) it’s a smidgen cheaper but there is IMO no way to beat the 007/009 or 013. I also don’t know why so many guys complain about the 7s movement. Ok it has no hand winding or hacking features but as you take it in your hands, it runs and runs and runs, mine now over 10 years without any service and any issues- how awesome is that. Other „movements“ you have to „shaky, shaky“ before they start moving. I also have to mention the iconic design of the SKX, the heritage of the brand Seiko, ... and of course the crappy, rustling, cheap bracelet, which is one of the most comfortable jubilees ever. Is the Orient Mako/Ray a good watch? Of course, it’s an excellent Diver!!!!
I think you bring up some good points. In my opinion both watches are great and we don't live in the world of absolutes so we can enjoy both of them:) I honestly don't know which one I prefer, yet (maybe leaning towards the Orient). I need to spend more time with the Mako to really make the call. I will do a comparison video in the future comparing the 2 watches and sharing my thoughts. If you watches my SKX review, you know that I love that watch so I don't want to rush the comparison and spend more time with both watches. All the best, Oleg.
Mine has been running +10/sec a day for 3 years. However the 7s26 on snk809 is all over the map, no idea what's wrong with that one. I'd say all Seiko movements even 6R15 are hit and miss, but the 6R15 has better accuracy because of the SPRON mainspring uncoils more uniformly, I have 2, 1 running like -10 and 1 running basically 0, go figure. The problem is the balance wheel is too small, which is prone to more variation unlike an ETA 2824 which has a larger balance wheel.
Hi Oleg and Bond. I use a silicone oil, it's safe for the gaskets and makes the bezel run smoothly. At least it worked for my M-Force and Ocean One 500.
Silicone grease, not oil. My SKX crown was very stiff and felt really gummy, I put a drop of silicone grease and it operates perfectly. That stuff is incredible. I also used it for my Orient Ray bezel. Petroleum based grease will bloat the gaskets and destroy them.
Hallo Oleg, I bought exactly the same watch, like yours in black. Payed 100 Euro for it. I agree, it and its brother the Ray II, are the best watches under 150 $. My Bazel is perfect. No problems there. My only problem is the size of the crown and the grinding noise winding it. Thanks for the review. I would reccoment this watch to anyone.
Thank you Joop. I'm glad you're enjoying your Mako 2. The design, the size, the dial are all design really well. I think I got unlucky with the bezel on mine. All the best, Oleg.
I am wearing my Mako II whilst watching this video. I chose this watch over the Seiko SKX. I agree that not only is it the best diver at its price point, but also the best watch period. Of all my watches, it gets the most wrist-time; it’s just a great tool watch! Cheers Oleg.
I own a couple of Ray IIs, an SKX009 and an SKX013. You've hit the key points of the Rays/ Makos in this video impo. The Orients wear less obtrusively than the SKX007/9 and they do have better specified movements. The SKXs though are certified and arguably classic pieces. Tbh you can't go wrong with either the Orient or the Seiko. People getting their pants in a bunch favouring one over the other is an Internet thing. A more interesting difference impo is the contrast between the Ray/Mako/007/009 and the SKX013. I have decent sized wrists and still often choose the cuter sized SKX013 over its larger cousins
Thank you my friend. I couldn't agree more. Both watches have their own strengths and weaknesses. We don't live in the world of absolutes and we can enjoy both. I am lucky to own both Orient Mako 2 and Seiko SKX009, love both watches and wear both of them. All the best, Oleg.
I have both. The SKX has the wow factor and is miles more comfortable. The Ray is more traditional and had to get another bracelet from strapcode because it was way too wide and uncomfortable. If I had to pick one i'd get the SKX, it's unique, lots of generic looking dive watches out there to choose from, the SKX is an icon for good reason. It's like Gypsy Danger, it's not the best, but what it does right, it does right. It's special, you gotta wear one for a while to know. It's my vacation watch, does well in any occasion and is tough, rugged, and super water resistant especially since it's ISO 6425 certified, i know this particular watch on my wrist was individually tested, not just one out of a batch.
Classic and elegant design. The Pepsi bezel version is gorgeous! I would choose that one. Actually I'm thinking in buy that bezel to mod my future Amphibia. I think it would be awesome. Congrats Oleg! All the best for you and Bond.
24Hours At A Time I know very well how it is. The Komandirskie arrived in just 14 days! That's a miracle. Normally I need to wait 1-2 months to get my parcels. All the best for you my friend. Waiting for the next video =)
I have the black Ray 2 and I love it. Great review mate but I think you’re a bit harsh on the bracelet. It’s good for the price and certainly better than Seiko’s offerings. I had to shell out for a Strapcode Super Oyster for my SKX but I think the Orient bracelet is good enough. Thanks for the review.
Thank you, my friend. You're right the bracelet is not bad. But I think they could update it a little; at least change the clasp. With that said I still prefer this watch on the original bracelet, it's very comfortable and has good weight to it. All the best, Oleg.
Your assessment matches mine 100%. The bezel is difficult to grip unfortunately. I also found the crown to be too small. I also own an skx009. The Mako 2 is superior in every spec BUT I must say that the skx has an X-factor that I cannot explain. Even though the Mako 2 has better specs (and price), I tend to prefer my skx more.
You're absolutely right about the x-factor of SKX, Antoine. There is something very special about that watch. We're lucky to be able t enjoy both watches. All the best, Oleg.
The bezel is fine on both of my Ray 2's. They have a good amount of resistance and it's consistent with both watches. However my Invicta Pro Divers have very different bezels. My black one is fine while my blue one is a bit tight when the pip gets close to the five o'clock position. I've also noticed that grabbing the bezel from the top as apposed to the sides causes more friction while the Orient's seem to remain the same regardless of where I grab the bezel.
I've had one of these for about 3 months. The 2 negatives that you pointed out are the only issues I have with it. The crown is a tad smaller than I would prefer and the bezel on mine was nearly impossible to turn. I actually completely removed the rubber bezel gasket. I know that sounds a bit unusual but now it works great and still has no play at all. It's not a perfect watch but I can't imagine that you'd find a better one for the price. And it's by far the most accurate watch in my small collection. I set the time when I got it 3 months ago and as of right now it's running +4 seconds of nist time. I don't mean +4 a day, I mean +4 in 3 months. That's pretty crazy. I've never had any other mechanical watch that even comes close to that. I still don't understand why the bezel action continues to be so horrible on these watches but, all in all, it's a bargain and a better watch than my 007. I still like the seiko a little more for some reason. Maybe I'm just more used to it because I've had it for a lot longer or something.
I think you pointed out a lot of things they I feel about this watch. It's not perfect but it's great. That bezel loosens up over time but they should really fix that QC issue. I don't know what it is about the SKX that steals our heart. All the best, Oleg.
Totally agree about the crown, just one extra millimetre would make all the difference. I wear mine on a rubber dive strap but I don't think the stock bracelet is all that bad..
It might seem like I don't like the bracelet from the video. I actually do like it. It's very comfortable and adds great weight to the watch. All the best, Oleg.
Own the Pepsi version and I love it!! Only complaints are the bezel is almost impossible to turn. I’m hoping it’ll loosen over time. The loom sucks! And I wish the crown was a tad bigger. I do like how easily the rotor spins when shaking.
Seems like your Mako II has a lot of similar issues to mine. My bezel loosened up a bit but it's still quite stiff and hard to turn. All the best, Oleg.
Thank you Konstantin! I was debating if I should get the pepsi version but decided to go for the black one since my SKX has a pepsi bezel. All the best, Oleg.
I love the dial and particularly the Arabic Numerals but my worry is the mineral crystal. I know mineral crystal can be fairly hard - and I have been impressed Hardlex - but I am tough on my watches and mineral crystal watches I have had in the past just get all scratched up. I think the movement destroys the SKX, which needs an update. But if you are talking bang for the buck and you don't mind mineral crystal I would say the Invicta Pro Diver is a better bet. If you bump your price up to $230 the Tissel Vintage Sub is hard to beat (as long as you don't mind an homage). Thanks for another great video Oleg :)
Thank Jeffrey. You make some good points. Value for money pro diver is hard to beat. The specs are pretty much the same as Orient but it's $50 cheaper. I really love the look of Tisell Vintage Sub. Almost considering selling my Marine Diver and getting a vintage sub instead. All the best, Oleg.
My 2 cents: I think the SKX, while a good watch, is one of the most over rated watches available. Why? The 7S26 movement has become quite dated. I don't care much about hacking, but the lack of hand-winding is a big inconvenience. It is basically a Seiko-5 in a dive-watch body. Maybe for about $50 US less I'd think differently. OR switch the movement up to an NH36. The Mako/Ray on the other hand, seem to offer more at a better price. And if I dare say, the Casio Duro blows them both away with all the advantages of quartz. (yes, I own mechanical watches and I get all that stuff about mechanicals having a "soul" or "feeling". That just doesn't work for me). Thanks for another very nice review.
Good honest review Oleg! I own the blue version (though black is more elegant) and agree with most points. The crown is too small and always looks as if it's not screwed in properly! I find the bracelet is better than my Invicta's. Who would know if it's hollow end links when you're wearing it, and really what's the big deal (the rattley jubilee on a SKX has it's own charm). To micro-adjust the bezel, try applying some gentle pressure counter clockwise till it hits exactly the 12 position and it should stay there, repeat over time and the bezel springs should 'work' into place. Have you tried lying your watch on it's side (9 at the bottom) overnight? This tends to slow it down and may help with accuracy. The movement seems a nice one, possibly durable, Nick Shabazz did a review on this watch, borrowed from a friend who daily wears it on a construction site! I read a comment also from some Army guy who used it on scuba dive trips in the Red sea, no worries. Anyway that's my two cents worth, great watch for the price.
Thank you my friend. You have made a lot of good points. I will try leaving the watch on the side for accuracy. I will also try to align the bezel. But to he honest that misalignment is not a big deal. It's impressive that someone actually took this watch on diving trips and it withstood the pressure. All the best, Oleg.
@@24hourstime yep will let you know. I got it for 95 pounds so think pretty good deal. Will probably do the unboxing of this watch as my first ever video I think. The wife told me that the amount of watch I have been buying and selling I might as well start my own channel 😌
I bought the mako II but I didn't like how it fits on my wrist and I returned it and bought a SKX007 which looks a lot better on my wrist...I can't pin point exactly what the problem is with the mako...symmetry? I don't know..something about it just didn't fit right.
Hi! Im just curious. What is the difference between watches that have the "japan mov't" marking on the 6 and other who have "japan" marking only. Coz im planning to buy a mako 2 and the one that they sell here has the "japan" marking only not like the other mako 2 which sells online with the "japan mov't" so i was curious whats the difference between them. Thanks
hey oleg! i have a ray II , i think also that the crown is a bit too small , but on mine , the bezel doesnt seems to be as hard to turn as yours . Overall a great peace , i would recommend it for a beater watch.
I've owned this for a few months: It has bad lume, really bad, for a diver. If you want good lume buy the Ray. It has a nice case with good polishing for the price, there are how ever some minor QC alignment errors on my example. The bezel action is very, very good for the price in my experience, but it may vary. The crown size is good IMO. The bracelet is very nice for the price, idk what this guy is complaining about except the hollow end links which as he said is expected at this price. The movement how ever failed me, and went haywire atter some repeated shocks and cold. Mine might have been a dud, but if you want something guaranteed truly robust, accurate and trustworthy movement-wise I recomend saving up for the Citizen Bn0200 if you can. It's truly great. If you how ever just need a cool, automatic desk diver, then the Mako II is. 02 the best you can get.
I am a huge fan of Vostok & would love to have one of those uni-directional SE 020 models. Unfortunately, they've been "out of stock" forever, after being introduced at Meranom.com. For $140 bucks, with higher quality & improved features over the Scuba Dude, they are quite competitive with both Orient Mako/Ray II & the Seiko SKX models.
You MIGHT be able to purchase the bi-directional version of an SE 020 and ask about them sending a bezel click spring. Apparently there is a hole aready drilled in the case on both models. Some people have been able to obtain this spare part and convert their bi-directional into a uni-directional.
Thanks! That's a great idea! For some reason I didn't realize it would be as simple as just adding a different click spring, and they might send it to you. Good info, thanks again!
Thank you my friend. Great nomination for the best diver under $150. I don't have any experience with that model but I hear great things about it. Definitely on the wish list. All the best, Oleg.
i have been thinking about getting a skx009 but the price doesn' seem to go down.. I really like the lume on the skx series, is the Mako on par for lume? Also, do the numbers look better than the dots in the ray 2? (other watch i'm considering). great video an thanks!!
Thanks David. SKX has the better lume than Mako 2. I think Ray 2 lume is similar to the SKX so maybe something to look into? I will do a side-by-side comparison of Seiko SKX and Orient Mako 2. All the best, Oleg.
U-87. U, may l call you U?. I would show you U, but I'm afraid the the video been deemed classified eyes only top secret. The good news is no one complained about the misaligned chapter rings on the skx, too dark you see U. Cheers
U-87. Mr. 87 your complete lack of a sence humor is quite refreshing. Your wife must be the funny one. You don't use your real name, hiding from someone? I digress, play the lottery you are oviosly very lucky to have an skx with no misalignment problems. When you win the lottery you can buy a real watch. Cheers
U-87. Mr. 87, l was looking forward to having witty repartee with you. But you obviously lack the linguistic proclivity to continue such a venture. I like to sharpen my rapier witticisms with persons of equal or superior intellect. Sadly, this is not the case. Good luck on your future endeavors, l think you will need it. I am going to let my family know l have been diagnosed having autism by the famous UA-cam Dr. 87. Cheers
Two condescending personalities arguing about two different watches which are technically made by the same company. No need to get personal, why can't you guys simply debate peacefully over this topic. I am a minor and I have better manners then you guys. I also have arguably better grammar than both of you.
In my opinion, the mako is not the best looking watch. However, it definitely has a more functional movement (if not as rigorously tested as the SKX's 7s26), with hacking and winding ability. The skx, again in my opinion, is a better looking watch with a very tough movement, especially fun to modify and it's a certified dive watch, as you say (the Orient pair are not). Instead of the Orient Ray or Mako, I'd much rather buy an Invicta diver (£80) and modify it to suit me, ie new dial, hands, sapphire crystal, bezel insert, modify the case shape and bezel, and service the seiko movement, which is an NH35A (an unbranded 4R35 movement, found in some Seiko Prospex Dive Watches).. I have already done that (anyone can), mine for example looks a little similar to a 1970's Tuder watch with the 'snowflake' hands, so I now have a partially homemade Diver watch ☺️, which runs more accurately than either the Orients or my skx (out of the box), in fact, my watch runs at a respectable +1.2s/day.
Good points about Invicta being more affordable and easier to mod. A few people shared their mods of Invicta watches. Very impressive. I think I prefer the look of SKX but Mako is more versatile and goes with everything. All the best, Oleg.
This watch would look so much better with a 20mm bracelet. Traditionally, the lug width should be about half the case diameter. Ex. A 40mm case should have a 20mm lug width bracelet.
Nice watch, good value...better than the skx? on paper yes, but I prefer the Seiko styling- just let down by the antique 7s26,so the Orient gets the win IMHO. Good review, Thanks 👍👍
Thank you, my friend. I honestly don't know which one I prefer, yet. Need to spend more time with the Orient to make the call. But at the moment I think I'm also leaning towards the Mako II. All the best, Oleg.
Greetings from the Netherlands! I have a orient mako 2 and te hollow endlinks really suck... the hollow endlinks bent the spring bar every week to every 2 weeks... i definately dont wear the band to tight and i dont get stuck on things every 1 or 2 weeks 😬 you seem to know a lot about the watch and the exact problem that i’m having! so now, my question is: do you know a bracelet or a solution to my problem?? you will really help me! i subscribed to keep up with you and i really really hope you can and will help me!! I look forward to hearing from you!!!
Appreciate you subscribing, my friend. To be honest I don't know of any good bracelet alternatives and don't want to recommend something I don't have any experience with. Maybe try wearing the watch on a nato strap. It's looks fantastic on a black nato and it's really comfortable. All the best, Oleg.
Ditto on that bent spring bar thing. Mine bent on such a regular baisis that I returned mine. The Mako ii looked nice and performed reasonably well, but the bracelet was junk. I had to replace the spring bars once every week or two. It was costly and inconvenient. I have seen lots of reviews calling the Orient M2 a great watch. If it falls off your wrist constantly or you lose it, it's junk in my book. I spent a little more money and for sub $250.00 bought a brand new Seko 2nd gen monster in black. The band is far better. The spring bars have never broken or bent in two years time. The accuracy is great, it looks cool, and performs flawlessly. I will never purchase another Orient watch.
I used to own this exact watch, but I bought and received an Invicta 8926OB about 4 days ago for $150AUD, and have already listed the Orient for sale. In my opinion, the 8926OB wins over the Mako. Sure, Invicta make some hideous watches, their only notable watch is a homage, but personally that doesn’t worry me, it also doesn’t worry me that a lot of people dislike Invicta. But hey, let’s have a conversation. :)
I have the 8926OB, a Vostok Scuba Dude, and a Mako II, and all are solid worthwhile pieces in their own right. You can't beat the often $60-$80 Invicta for features/value. The Vostok is loaded with a fun quirkiness & character, but the Orient Mako II is just a more serious watch with better bracelet & overall fit & finish, IMO, than either of the others.
Wow I'm a little surprised that your Invicta 8926OB has impressed you enough that you're selling the Orient. But I can understand it. Invicta has a very solid set of specs, good finishes and it's even cheaper than Orient. I'm glad that you found a watch that you like that much. Connecting with a watch like that is one of the joys of this hobby. All the best, Oleg
I do not agree that the Invicta you mentioned is better than the Orient Mako. I find them to be equally good (I own both a Mako and multiple Pro Divers)
Bought my Mako II for $250... It sucks to live in Europe. Bracelet sucks major shit, I had to change the spring bars 8 times or so, so I ended up buying an aftermarket bracelet from strapcode and now my Oris is lying forgotten in the drawer.
If it doesn't have a sapphire crystal and a sapphire or ceramic bezel it's going to suffer damage. There are numerous microbrands that offer much better value.
Interesting! I am waiting for comparing Seiko and Orient ;) I don't have any watch from Japan with automatic movement :/ Did You know, some models of Komandirskie K-39 have got Tritium :D? I don't know how it's works, but sounds very interesting :D Like Vostok prepare something for new campain :D
Absolutely love Orient watches. The SKX however is an icon, plus the bezel is more functional as a diver. The orient bezel isn't really useful past 10 minutes.
TheGoodwolfe That is not correct, Invicta Pro diver costs under 100 US dollars and is also very great watch with Seiko movmnt
Just bought the watch in black and is arriving tomorrow. Thanks for review! 👍💯
Thank you Jeff. I think you will really like your Mako II. I'm falling in love with it more and more every day. All the best, Oleg.
Mako 2 is great for me, don’t know how they do it for the money. Really enjoying it, very accurate.
Glad you're enjoying yours, Peter. Mine is running very accurate too. All the best, Oleg.
A friend of mine has had an SKX for years - long before I got into watches - and as soon as I saw it I thought:
“what a dull watch”.
In my opinion both watches are great and we don't live in the world of absolutes so we can enjoy both of them:)
I honestly don't know which one I prefer, yet (maybe leaning towards the Orient).
Thank you for the suggestion Bartosz, I really appreciate it. Will give it a try. All the best, Oleg.
Silicone grease, not oil. My SKX crown was very stiff and felt really gummy, I put a drop of silicone grease and it operates perfectly. That stuff is incredible. I also used it for my Orient Ray bezel. Petroleum based grease will bloat the gaskets and destroy them.
Yes, it is.
Now please stop mentioning Invicta in the comments section. I'm starting to feel physically ill.
LOL
Thank you Anthony. Absolutely agree! All the best, Oleg.
The pepsy variation of mako 2 that I own has a perfectly aligned bezel. I wonder if they fixed it for the entire lineup.
Thank you Bruno! I actually bought a pepsi bezel (SKX version) for the mod on my Amphibia. I am a big fan of that look. All the best, Oleg and Bond.
That's nice! Will you make an video of this mod? It would be awesome!
I will do the mod video when the bezel arrives. It's taking so long:(
24Hours At A Time I know very well how it is.
I Love the Ray & Mako! Great video!
Thank you, my friend.
Great review, Oleg. I like the pepsi bezel version for sure.
Thanks Kerim!
The Mako offers a lot for that price point, the blue dial Pepsi is awesome but the black as well looks great. Great review Bro🙏🏻👍🏻
Thank you Konstantin! I was debating if I should get the pepsi version but decided to go for the black one since my SKX has a pepsi bezel. All the best, Oleg.
24Hours At A Time, and it is a great choice actually, the mako really offers a lot for this price point. And it’s an awesome addition to your SKX👍🏻👍🏻
Orient makes some beautiful watches.
I know I'm abit late to the show but can't wait for this to arrive in the next few days.
Nice! Great choice. Let me know how you like it (when it arrives). All the best, Oleg.
@@24hourstime yep will let you know. I got it for 95 pounds so think pretty good deal. Will probably do the unboxing of this watch as my first ever video I think. The wife told me that the amount of watch I have been buying and selling I might as well start my own channel 😌
"Way to go Orient... Keeping up with those Seiko's" Best quote of the year!
LOL thanks!
I have one! I have a Orient Mako PEPSI, really beautiful ! Claudio.
I have the orange 1, love the Mako II
Nice! Orange Mako II looks really unique, good choice!
Thanks
You gotta compare the Ray2 to the SKX not the Mako2. The lume on the Ray2 is brighter and closer to the SKX.
Use silicon lubrication for ur bezel.
hey oleg! i have a ray II , i think also that the crown is a bit too small , but on mine , the bezel doesnt seems to be as hard to turn as yours . Overall a great peace , i would recommend it for a beater watch.
I agree the watch is great. For the price it's hard to beat. I hope the bezel on mine "wears in". All the best, Oleg.
ps. What color is your Orient?
Mine is the blue one , and yes, the bezel will wears in eventually. Cheers dude
Can you compare the Corgeut black bay to the Mako?
Good idea Xavier. I will probably do that video sometime in the future. All the best, Oleg.
02 the best you can get.
do you guys think it will look good on 6 inch wrist?
Nice review brother. For me currently I would say the Vostok Amphiba SE 020 (uni-directional bezel model).
I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about the bezel not aligning. Mine is perfectly aligned. Guess I got lucky
Seems like it's a common issues. You did get lucky!
The Ray and Mako II are brilliant watches. I may still spring for the Black Ray II. I like the bezel and dial... but those hands. Not my favorite
i have been thinking about getting a skx009 but the price doesn' seem to go down..
Good video! hi from Fredericton, NB.
Thank you, Jean-Francois!
A sundial at night is a better timepiece than an skx. Orient all the way. Cheers
I bought this watch because it reminded me of may fathers explorer. 👍
Yes it is.
I bought mine for around 220$ which was on sale and the cheapest in Sweden...
I'm glad you're enjoying your Orient! Damn, Sweden! $220 is a bit steep.
@@24hourstime The normal price is around 250$ A SKX normal price is around 280$ It's expensive here...
Hi. What is the purpose of the bezel ? Why it´s there ?
The bezel rotates to time your diving time. Or time anything else you like.
Thanks. What you thing of Steinhart ocean one vs Mako 2 ?
Vertigo, I like the Invicta Sea Hunter 3... I'm saving up for one.
Invicta 8926ob was my first automatic, no regrets
Wow I'm a little surprised that your Invicta 8926OB has impressed you enough that you're selling the Orient. But I can understand it. Invicta has a very solid set of specs, good finishes and it's even cheaper than Orient. I'm glad that you found a watch that you like that much. Connecting with a watch like that is one of the joys of this hobby. All the best, Oleg
I do not agree that the Invicta you mentioned is better than the Orient Mako. I find them to be equally good (I own both a Mako and multiple Pro Divers)
I never bought an Orient or Seiko diver... I don't think I will buy one.. The Seiko Mohawk diver watch is rather interesting though.
Mohawk diver does look cool. Haven't seen one in person yet. All the best, Oleg.
Bought my Mako II for $250... It sucks to live in Europe. Bracelet sucks major shit, I had to change the spring bars 8 times or so, so I ended up buying an aftermarket bracelet from strapcode and now my Oris is lying forgotten in the drawer.
$250 that's... wow that's steep. Truly a great watch! All the best, Oleg.
I bought mine after yours and from same place Singapore I like it like the skx but the Orient better accurate than the skx
I'm glad you're enjoying your Orient, Kevork. My Mako is also more accurate than my SKX. All the best, Oleg.
The SKX is sooo overrated!
If it doesn't have a sapphire crystal and a sapphire or ceramic bezel it's going to suffer damage. There are numerous microbrands that offer much better value.
Bert Kanne what can u recommend? I'm looking my first proper no g-shock watch.
Any watch is better than Seiko skx. Skx can't keep proper time. Skx is a paria watch
No I have a Mako 2 Pepsi it is a fantastic watch but it runs about 40 seconds fast so it is not as accurate as my sea urchin
I never own Orient, might save some money for this watch
I wasn't a big fan of Orient until I got this watch. I don't think you will be disappointed if you do end up buying this watch. All the best, Oleg.
orient movt is way better, more accurate...
skx is better only with looking
Interesting!
I am waiting for comparing Seiko and Orient ;)
I don't have any watch from Japan with automatic movement :/
Did You know, some models of Komandirskie K-39 have got Tritium :D? I don't know how it's works, but sounds very interesting :D
Like Vostok prepare something for new campain :D
No way Tritium lume Komandirskie sounds awesome. I didn't know they had Tritium option. All the best, Oleg.
Yup, automatic ones and Ronda quartz chrono, 200 WR :)
nice watch for the price.. i like it
Absolutely love Orient watches. The SKX however is an icon, plus the bezel is more functional as a diver. The orient bezel isn't really useful past 10 minutes.
Good points Andrew. SKX is undeniably an Icon. All the best, Oleg.
Yes . It does have its faults . I still think I will get the Ray 2 and put it in a Bond NATO .
С синим цифером МАКО интереснее смотрятся.
Cool 🐶
