God this show is so criminally underrated. I've rewatched it an ungodly number of times and I'm constantly pestering my friends to watch it (I'm absolutely crushed it was taken off of netflix :( )
I only just discovered this show (and love it) but as a Browncoat I fully feel your pain. Why are the wittiest, funniest, and best written shows canceled just as their hardcore fanbase is really gaining traction?!
Galavant is on Disney Plus now, at least in Australia. I only found out about it a couple weeks ago and I totally love it. One thing I love about Galavant is how it simultaneously subverts tropes and expectations only to basically sick things firmly in the land of another trope. It is subversion but in a way that doesn't make things un-fun. Things are so twisty turny that they basically end up almost back at being a typic fantasy story.
OMG, there´s not Galavant in South America. I think i need to travel to Australia... Whait a minute... Australia is the one with huge spiders, isn´t it?.... FFFFFFFFFUUUUU
Was not aware of such a masterpiece in the ranks of contemporary television such as Galavant...but this magnificent editorial has made oneself wish to embark on a noble quest to seek out it's exhibition (by100%totallegalmeans)
I was so upset when it was cancelled. We don't get enough fantasy shows that aren't just hard drama. I honestly don't know if I can think of another comedic fantasy show, AND it's a musical?! Even my partner, not a fan of musicals, loves Galavant. I need it to come back for that Madeleine and Gareth romance. I was SO invested in that in season 2.
You're going to make a longer video on Galavant? 👀 The world needs a Madalena analysis. Frankly I don't understand how a meta medieval musical melodrama hadn't been pulled off before - what more could you want? It's also criminal that ABC hogged it all to themselves in the States. So much of the humour I feel might be better appreciated by other audiences.
Firefly, Galavant, Dead Boy Detectives, Teenage Bounty Hunters, Final Space... shows cancelled to make room for other hot reality garbage shows. Also, Galavant is on Disney + in Canada now. At 6:50 you summed up my feelings...Thank you...
Even the guy who produced Frasier, one of the most classic and well loved sitcoms, thought Galavant was a miracle for even existing not just one but two seasons. I still hope for a third season just so we can get just a little more resolution on a couple of characters.
i will defend this show until the day i die, i’ve rewatched it a thousand times. I still freak out when Richard brings back “well, well, well” in the second season.
Hi everyone Thank you for the rising support, it's wonderful to see the rising awareness and love for thisl series. We are working hard on the next installment and hope to have it with you soon, so in the meantime feel free to subscribe to be notified of our next upload. Thank you so much for all the support :)
This show deserved a s***load of Emmys for music and scripts. No matter how many times I play the songs on UA-cam, the delight remains undiluted. It's sad that it never found the size of audience its originality and quality warranted.
the only reason i even heard about this show was because i was working as a subtitle translator at the time and i received an order to do three episodes. it got me hooked. this show deserved so much more love and recognition!!
Could not agree more! In fact, I would go so far as to say that Galavant is the Princess Bride of the 2010's. When discussing favourite shows, Galavant is forever in my top three (where it is in that ranking varies, i must admit - but hey, life is fluid : @Disney, are you listening to these fine gentlemen?
YESSS! Galavant should be a cult classic. Someone else saying what I've been saying too, what a relief. I don't mind it ending. I mind it not being seen. It was on Netflix for a couple years, then it was taken off that and not even put on D+. I don't know about the DVD in the UK, but the one released in the US, is kinda sad. It doesn't offer any captions, which kinda really sucks for the deaf and hard of hearing. Also I want captions to help me sing along, because it's awesome. There are no bonus feature included on the DVD either. Not bloopers, deleted scenes, or even that video they made for their fans to thank us for trying to get it renewed. Even the packaging is a little sad. The case doesn't have the clipy spokes, that the discs go on, they're just in a sleeve inside what otherwise looks like a standard case. The DVD wasn't released in the US until closer to three years after it finished airing. It's like an executive has an active grudge against the show.
I still wish I knew of the petition for season 3 of this show. They made one, but not enough people signed it. I would have worked hard to get people to sign it if I knew about it at the time. The network wanted to not talk about it, even though it was so amazing and deserved more seasons.
i love galavant! i remember seeing the teaser for it all the time on ABC in 2014, knowing that alan menken was composing the music. i've been hooked ever since because of that fact. i was _11_ . to this day, i think it's his most underrated work. i love this show and i'm sad it's not on disney+ either. it was on netflix US for a couple years, but was removed a while ago. however, recently i used a VPN and saw it's available in the UK thanks to star. i might finally be able to rewatch it! great video by the way, this show deserves more love :)
Galavant was on Netflix for a couple of years, I don't think it was until recently that they took it off, to my great dismay. Definitely one of the best sitcoms of all time.
I watched this show when it first aired it's criminally underrated. Also it's on hulu now, and I've been re-watching it, which brought me to this video
A video essay about Galavant??? Ohboi 😭😭😭 Edit: I'm about two minutes in but goddamn, this is such a mood. Someone's finally talking about Galavant and I'm so happy.
Last time I rewatched Galavant was on either Netflix or Hulu. I don't remember which because it's been a while since I watched an actual episode but it's definitely one of the two.
One bit of trivia I want to add is before Galavant, Dan Fogelman had another 2 season sitcom on ABC called "The Neighbors" that I think is a bit of a precursor to the Galavant style humor. Season 1 of "The Neighbors" had an episode making fun of Broadway with a full on musical number composed by, guess who, Alan Menken and lyrics by Glen Slater - aka the same crew on Galavant (It was even good enough to get an Emmy nomination). Then S2 of "The Neighbors" amps up fourth-wall/lampshading humor that was barely teased in the first season. Interestingly too, just like Galavant, it isn't on any of the international streaming services like Amazon or Netflix, but both it and Galavant are now on Hulu. The Neighbors had a slow start, but really got better in the 2nd season and I definitely think that Galavant wouldn't be around if it wasn't for it.
I found gallivant on Netflix back when it was still on Netflix, I instantly fell in love, the funny thing is I only watched it after my sister convinced me to try it, neither of us had seen it but something about the show made her wanna watch it
Glad i bought it on DV-R on Amazon but the Soundtrack was so Overpriced i couldn't afford it and now they dont make them . Though it is streaming on Amazon , i want a physical copy. Sighxxxxxxxx
You know what makes the whole inaccessibility of Galavant even worse? Galavant was filmed over here in the UK (specifically in Bristol, Cardiff and the surrounding areas). The crew was almost exclusively British. The cast is almost exclusively British (except for Timothy and Mallory). And yet it's NEVER been accessible over here - I had to get a friend in the US to send me a DVD. Even Karen David, Isabella herself, is unable to watch her own damn show - something she regularly posts about on her official Facebook page. It's absolutely nonsensical, especially given how perfect it would be for the UK - it's that blend of The Princess Bride and Spamalot that we here love so much, or for Brits... it's basically a panto as a TV show. But, nope. US only, for some reason.
@@dominickucela6144 Annoyingly not! I've actually got a couple of friends who were extras in it, and worked with someone who was on the crew (their crew shirts are a FANTASTIC design) - none of them have actually seen it! You'd think with Disney+ now being a thing that they'd have bothered to upload it, but
Galavant is currently in Hulu! Saw it the other day, just checked and it’s still there. I love this show, watched it when it first aired then rewatched it constantly.
Oh I loved this show back when it first aired! The reason the show is forgotten is because the show had such a limited dvd release. I mean look up copies of the dvd on Amazon or eBay. They cost a hundred dollars, and the dvd quality isn’t even very good!! A lot of modern shows have the same problem, especially Netflix shows. When things don’t have proper dvd and blue ray releases they can’t reach as wide of an audience.
The funny thing is, in one of my history classes, I mentioned Galavant and found that both the professor and the person across from me had watched it. The professor turned out to be a little bit of a crank, and the other person is now my best friend.
More people should know about this show, I tried to get people to watch it but its so hard to describe the show (a historical comedy musical where...) but I did manage to convince my boyfriend (at the time) to watch it and he loved it sm that he watched episodes without me despite promising to wait for me to watch it with him, apparently he couldn't wait 😤
why can't we riot enough to bring it back, like we did with psych?!?! We rallied enough people on the Facebook psych fan group that it got us three movies and a musical!
Why disney, one is already good but 2 is perfect, and 3 easy could have used the fun cast, and richard is guaranteed to still be hillarous, and madgalena fun.
This video just popped up in my recomended, dig it, and agree that the show was great and it's a crime that it's not on D+. But the show has been on Hulu for years. If I remember correctly they had a streaming rights deal or something for the show back when it was initially on, and is likely still holding those rights.

Galavant was basically the Modern Musical take on a Princess Bride. A lot of solid quotable lines, a lot of good humor, and the music was excellent.
