Adding to small cables to the screws on the washers makes it easy to retract the expansion anchor for removal

What i would suggest is adding a string to each side.. like nylon twine and when you're ready to remove the tool just push it in slightly and pull the strings to draw the "ears" in

Just reverse the threaded rod and take it out of the expansion contraption and put a skinny magnet it up in there because it would just fall into the bottom of the bellows. Cool video!! Helps alot

Sounds like you are in a great position do that. When I recorded , it was on the fly. This is now like 4 yrs old.
Hopefully this gave some creativity to you to adjust and make an updated video.

@@PMPerformance I’m sorry if that came across too straightforward. I didn’t mean to set you off. I should’ve used a softer tone. I was at work just a quick observation. I wasn’t being sarcastic.

@daveg2199 an, it’s all good. I get a lot of suggestions on this video how to do it better. It’s just that it’s after the fact. I ca t do it different now. I’d like to see all these suggestions turn into videos though to remind me of better solutions next time I need to do it

This is much easier to do while you have the shift shaft out to replace the seals and bushings during the transom re-seal.

I’m sure it is easy for a full R&R. That was not the task though.
Thats like saying it’s much easier to change your oil pan gasket with the motor out of your car.

I would tie some fishing line onto that anchor then when you’re done you push and pull on the fishing line to suck your anchor handles back and you’re done

Tried it with the string to release the spring tension at the toggle , Gives a good advantage got everything at Lowes for $ 8.21. Got to dark out to see will start again in the morning . I do not see this being possible without adding special tool or making one.

I bet if you unwind the rod from the wall anchor, the anchor will fall over and could be pulled straight out with a pair of long needle nose pliers.

@@PMPerformance It's a plate you attach to the gimbal sassy that is used to put antifreeze into the engine and manifolds and serves as a blankoff to keep it clean and no one can steal your outdrive as well.

@@davidskov7428 I don’t remember how I did this as the video is probably over 2 yrs old at this point, but there was other maintenance I did while I was in there, and it was my first time taking an outdrive off.
If memory serves me, I replace some shift cables and trim sensors and some other lines and such when I was doing this. The bellows was not the main purpose o was in there.
