I've practiced Zach's Finger Gauntlet every day for three years. It is my "warm up" for the first ten minutes of every day's piano practice. It's easy. It works. It's been the most helpful tool I was fortunate to come across at the beginning of piano study at age 68. Four years later, my daily practice still begins with the Finger Gauntlet and I give it credit for the foundation of muscle memory allowing me to play with confidence, Chopin's Prelude in E Minor, Bach's Prelude in C Major, Beethoven's Fur Elise, Debussy's Clair de Lune and now, Lecuona's Malaguena. Zach's Finger Gauntlet is a backbone tool to warm your fingers, obtain rhythm and the joy of developing muscle memory. Thank you Zach! Keep 'um coming. All the best, Elise
I just bought an Alesis 88-key controller. I intend to learn piano, even though I am 73 years old with arthritic fingers, and very little previous music education (I Played drums in High school). Your lessons seem logical and easy to follow. I will make posts occasionally as I progress, Thanks!
Wow, mind blown. I just bought an Alesis 88 keyboard. I want to learn piano even though I am 68 years old with arthritic fingers and very little previous musical education (I played trumpet in junior high) These lesson look like exactly what I need.
I'm going to practice this everyday to add to my piano playing tool box to continue to grow.. always wanted to play piano.. Now at 65..I'm loving it..I'll keep you posted on my progress ❤..

Just bought my first keyboard, so happy I found these videos, good not to learn bad habits from the beginning which has led me to getting 'stuck' when learning other instruments. My guitar teacher eventually said that I'd be better learning piano as my brain apparently thought like a piano player according to him, whatever that means 😂 Thank you, looking forward to playing my first tune!
I’m 52 years old and love listening to classical music. I’ve been looking for piano lesson in UA-cam and Yours are THE BEST tutorial. So I subscribed❤️😀❤️😀
So what about the left hand ? And should I play it both hands ? or just one at a time ? And if I play it with both hand how would he wrist movement would like look ?
Hi Zach! I am in my 3rd day of practice. What I really want to say is "Thank you" for making this available. I took one semester of piano in college 35 yrs ago. I did ok. Couldn't let anyone hear me play. Never really practiced like I should. Now, 71 yrs old. Just received a lovely Yamaha keyboard. Excited. I'm working on what you say about being able to do this if I just follow the technique and practice. I'm a little nervous about the lack of confidence i have, but I"m going to truly give it a try. Looking forward to that satisfaction of really knowing how to play. Thank you, again. I am excited. Blessings to you.
Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for. Its funny, when I first started learning how to play i was following books and trying to play all kinds of sheet music. I ended up taking a break after awhile and upon returning decided to learn to play by ear and focus on technique. Not only am i having alot more fun but i am really seeing results now. Finding your material is perfect for me now. Thank you!
I started by playing my favorite taylor swift song. Now, I practice technique because I want to be great. I am glad I started with something I really enjoyed instead of just taking a course.
something I like to point out is when you are looking to speed up, use a metronome and do it in short burst, start slow then work the speed up but you must learn to also push yourself. if you stay in your comfort zone too long you wont make progress. I know this as I've wasted a lot of years on guitar by not challenging myself enough and pushing the boundaries. it doesn't happen over night, stick to it and you will see results.
Thanks man. The information was simple and beneficial. Shockingly, my brain started to pick up quickly without having to look down at the keys. It’s like second nature. Right now, I’m using an iPad, so imagine me on the real keys. I can’t wait. Thanks for the lesson.
Zack you get more and more CRAZY that I love joining in your madness! Friend and I enjoyed your tutorials always. And small groups join in with us before dinner! Good job Zack! Don't stop !
Zach... Thank You Buddy. I Enjoy Following Someone Who is. Smooth & Calm in Their Teaching. I'm 61. Been playing Guitar for 40+ Years. My Wife Got Me a Big Yamaha Piano 25 Years Ago. It Was Crazy Different for Me. So I kept it boxed up. Till Now! Thank You Buddy. I've been writing Gospel Song's For the Last 4 Years. Now I'm starting to play the Piano with them Also. God Bless You Pal. W. K. Tyler.
Bro I was frustrated 1st month of how difficult this was going to be and started doubting myself. Also because of the age theory. But after this exercise my confidence just skyrocketed and wanna learn more. S/O 2u!
I thank God for your work it has been helping me through tough learning about piano but u just unlocked me and like took all of my bad skills and u just made me 10x faster❤❤❤❤❤
This UA-cam video on learning to play the piano is amazing. I love it! Thank you for taking the time to put all these videos together so I could learn to play the piano. I appreciate the time and effort that went into creating this beautiful youtube site Zach. I wish you happiness, success and a beautiful future ahead. Heartfelt gratitude. Michelle
Ohhhhhh Voooooowww Sir, You have taught the very very very basic way of learning and smoothly playing the Piano with beautifully demonstrated video ! Voooooowww !! Thank you and your team so much for d lovely invaluable work. I have gone through and I like the basics of Alfred's Adult Learnings and songs ! And I too much liked your this very useful Tutorial ! God bless you and your family and your team 🙏👍👌🌈🎉👏🎉
This is a really good video for beginner piano players. I play a little guitar and beginning to play keyboards and this video really helped me progress. I watched videos from classical players and got so wrapped. up in technique that I would have to spend a life time before I could play. This video cuts to the chase and makes learning to play manageable. Good job..
This is very helpful. I’ve learned how important muscle memory is. About two years ago, at age 64, I took up piano after a 30 year hiatus. My previous teacher had taught me several bad habits that were hardwired, and after all that time they were still there!. I had to “unlearn” them , which at my age was a bit of a challenge. The only good news about this is that I became aware of this problem early and have been careful ever since.
I'm all pumped and set to tear through this in the next 91 days! Trying to understand the notes in week 2, 5, 8. Which notes should we play ? Is it the scales ? And do we play only the first 5 notes ?
I have just started playing piano. I was searching for tutorial and found yours most helpful. I am really enjoying my piano learning journey. Thank you!
Wow, so happy to run into this lesson…years ago I did something similar on guitar…it is unbelievably helpful as Zach is saying..,nice to run an old friend now that I’m learning piano…Zach knows his stuff…
Thank you so much for taking the time and the attention you have given us to play piano I appreciate that you do all of this for free thank you so much Zac
Wow. The finger gauntlet completely blew my mind. Would it be worthwhile to do it with bigger jumps? For instance, using just thumb and index, playing C-D, C-E, C-F, etc, completing the entire octave? And then repeating for the other fingers? And what about sharps and flats? Going C-D is no problem, but C-C# often requires more thought. Is this worth training, or will doing the finger gauntlet naturally carry-over to these as well? Thanks again for the awesome training tips!
Zach I’m so happy that I came across your post it really has been helping me to build up my confidence. I’ve been wanting to learn how to play the piano for a very long time and now can’t hardly wait to get up in the morning to practice before I go to work. I think I got it bad 😂😂😂😂

Out of all piano lessons online, yours was actually easy to follow up and I must admit, you actually taught me more then my own piano coach
Thanks Zach. Just what I needed.
I have a question. How do you do the over under technique for left hand?
I have the same question. Is the left hand the exact mirror image of the right? Or not?
Just bought my first keyboard, so happy I found these videos, good not to learn bad habits from the beginning which has led me to getting 'stuck' when learning other instruments. Wow, the hand technique alone was gold. Thank you so much for breaking this down.
For sure Joltrast, so glad you liked it
@@becomeapianosuperhuman6765 Can you recommend a good exercise for playing 7ths? I find it hard to stretch my fingers and play accurately at speed.
