  • Hi ,
    This video is to show you how to make a simple transistor based LED running circuit at home.

    i accomplished the same thing by giving 24 monkeys a lighter each... I must admit the initial debugging phase was a challenge

      Now you have your monkeys debugged, you might want to buy them all a typewriter.

    Ingenious design! "But where is the source code for the NE555?" Beats the pants off the Pi Pico Blink projects - Hahaha.

    • @AndyHullMcPenguin
      @AndyHullMcPenguin Рік тому +2

      In theory you could simplify the design by replacing the 555 with a two transistor flip flop. This makes the source code even shorter.

    Neat, and the circuit doesn't work the way I thought it did. No set/reset feedback from the final stage, it relies simply on the long period of the 555. Clever.

    Cool little circuit! One thing I noticed in the schematics though: You have no resistors for the LED's other than the transistors, which isn't quite optimal for the LED's :) But I guess the 9-volt battery have enough internal resistance to compensate, so it'll likely work great anyways.

    Nice. appreciate your work and display. building circuits using descrete components and on bread board or general purpose pcb will teach you a lot compared to using simulators.
    one can buy a pocket signal generator to generate test signals or pocket oscilloscope to check detailed signals at various points to
    get more understanding. this will give you more hands on experience

    I am trying to figure out how potentiometers suddenly became "presets". Was there a meeting? This channel isn't the only one doing it. "Preset" doesn't even make sense as it better describes a static resister than a variable one. A 330ohm resister is "preset" to 330ohms. You can't "preset" a resister with a range of 0-10kohms, it's a range. It can be any value within the range. If you set the pot to 3kohms by measurement before using it, you would say "0-10kohm Pot, preset to 3kohms" and then you still have to re-measure after soldering because of thermal expansion displacing the wiper which is why you don't hear about people commonly "presetting" a potentiometer. Makes no sense. smdh.

    • @mikepanchaud1
      @mikepanchaud1 Рік тому +2

      Potentiometers usually refer to a front panel user control. A preset is usually set once to calibrate and mounts directly to the pcb where the user cannot access it. But they are basically the same thing

    • @martinhorner642
      @martinhorner642 Рік тому +1

      @@mikepanchaud1yeah, that doesn't sound made up at all. But I'm reasonable, what engineering text or spec sheet used this convention?

    • @tookitogo
      @tookitogo Рік тому

      @@mikepanchaud1Nonsense. The internal ones used for adjustment are called “trimmer potentiometers” (“trimpots” or just “trimmers” for short).

    • @AndyHullMcPenguin
      @AndyHullMcPenguin Рік тому +1

      Apparently Wikipedia has a page specifically for us pedants - > en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trimmer_(electronics)
      Trimmer would be a possible synonym. In my opinion (as if anybody cares about my opinion) if it has a big knob on it that the customer can fiddle with, its a pot, or control. If it has a small, hidden knob, or screwdriver slot, designed to remove the temptation for the customer to fiddle with it, then it has been pre-set to a value less likely to allow the customer to gain access to the magic smoke. Hence preset. Its all about the size of the knob.

    Hello,
    I have a battery holder where 2 mini 1.5v button batteries belong power a LED.
    Unfortunately, they are always very quickly empty. I now wanted to feed the LED with 3V power supply instead of the 2 1,5V batteries.. If I put the minus cable to one pole of the battery holder and the other plus cable to the other pole, the LED does not light up. Do I have to make a bridge(connect the 2 poles with each other) between the two poles (plus and minus)?
    I attached a picture of what I mean:
