Great video. Just got my first bike at 57. I bought a 2013 Honda Shadow VT750 RS. Just listening to your story reminds me of how far I have come in less than 3 months. I traveled 4 hrs one way to pick up the bike at a bike shop. I had them load it on the back of my Tacoma and brought it back home. It stayed on the truck for 2 days. My new neighbor helped me get it off the truck in a ditch nearby. I could barely get it to my driveway. My neighbor just laughed at me because I looked like a fish out of water on that thing. But, like you, I practiced in my driveway with the controls and eventually got out on my dead end street and went through a few gears. About a week later I got to the top of the road and turned on the main road without even planning to do so. After 100 yards I was addicted. I hit the back roads and was afraid of turning, starting and stopping. I finally found a good church parking lot and started practicing the things youtubers had prescribed. I was shocked how fast I learned. I had gotten my permit with just a written test, but had made an appt. to take my skills test 2 months out at the DMV. The man there told me to practice. They give the test right behind the DMV so I would go up there after hours and practice the skills. There were no cones, but they had it marked on the pavement where the cones went. When I went in for my endorsement I whizzed right through it. In NC it's not that hard anyway. I have put over 2000 miles on that bike already in under 3 months. I live in the County so I have plenty of roads to ride on. I venture out further and further it seems now and love to experience a road on my bike that I have never took it on. It's still 100% stock and only had 1400 miles when I bought it. It's basically new. They are easy to maintain and I'm learning how to do the maintenance when needed. Thanks for your video. Your honesty and humility drew me right in and I kept saying how our experiences were so similar. The difference being I set out to get a Honda because my Harley friend told me that's what I needed and all I would need to do is change the oil once in a while. LOL. Now, I'm thinking I need to slow down because I don't want to run up the miles on it in the first year. The weather is turning perfect right now and I can't help myself. Off for another ride......
Awesome back story! I love comments like this! So much detail and it helps us get to know you! Yes, those little steps like you did/are doing set the foundation for success in riding. Sounds like you are doing well! Your friend is also correct about a Honda. That’s about all they need for maintenance (for the most part) is an oil change. We are definitely coming into some great riding weather as far as temps and the change of the season goes! Thanks for watching, and I am sure we will catch you on another video soon! Ride safe!
I've been riding the same Honda shadow 750 since I was in high school. Thirteen years later the bike is still going like its brand new. They dont make a better bike
All of them. 😂 The 750s are pretty versatile for new and old riders. It is something you may be happy with long term, and it can teach the ropes. A 1300 is going to be a little heavier and have more power, and not something I would start with. The newer Phantoms are nice as well. Then you get into fuel injection versus the carburetor. It’s just whatever your preference is for over all looks. My Shadow has been a great bike for myself to learn on, and my wife. Maybe one day my daughter will learn on it as well. Hope that helps some!
I bought a 22 Shadow Aero as my first bike, and I'm not even slightly disappointed in my option! It was something I desired; a bike with a classic look, not too heavy, and something easy to learn on. She has character, she isn't too slow or too fast, and she looks great wherever she goes! Easy maintenance too, it was a steal of a deal! If you want reliability and long lasting fun, Shadows are the way to go!
Greetings friend from Costa Rica, yesterday I bought my Honda Shadow 2005 30,000 miles driven. At first I wanted an HD 883, but 3 facts led me to decide on the Honda Shadow Aero. First, the HD concessionaire closed its representation in Costa Rica; second, the government tightened the annual technical review and it is difficult for them to approve HD; third, and I know it's silly to say it, but I did my homework and decided on Honda. Your videos are full of encouragement, knowledge you are a great young man, I really appreciate the opportunity to be part of your channel. Thanks, I'll send you a video of the Shadow soon. Sorry for my poor English, about 30 years ago I studied in California and today I speak little with my great friends in the USA.
Greetings! First of all, I would like to say, thank you so much for your kind words! You have no idea how great it makes me feel reading comments like yours! It sounds like you have done your homework and have found the best option for your needs. As you probably learned, Honda makes a solid bike. I am looking forward to seeing your bike! I think your English is just fine! Thanks for being a part of the channel and commenting!
Thanks for your experience. 54 and I just bought my first bike after nearly 30 years out of the saddle. Went with a 2024 Shadow Phantom off the showroom floor 7 days ago. I'm back in love with riding all over again.
@@JimCook My Freind has a Honda and Yamaha dealership I get to try everything. They laughed a me when I sat on a phantom the other day. I told that a 750 felt better than anything I’ve sat on so far. I loved it .I like the spirit model myself. I know you’re going to enjoy it the more you ride it .
It would be great if more people, especially young people would put their ego's in their pockets. You did correct in the way you starting riding. I've seen many new riders that jump on sport bikes and others only to get hurt or worse. Always respect motorcycles because if you don't it will sooner or later get you in trouble.
RFRMOBILE 43 thanks, Richard. I agree with you on that! No matter the bike, respect it! Some bikes are just easier to be reckless on! My style of riding just fits me fine. 🙂
im 18 and am going to get a 2008 honda shadow spirit. My older brothers and dad all have Harleys, but I'm going to stick safe and smart and spend a lot of money rn. Maybe later I will buy a Harley, but right now I want something reliable and relatively easy to maintain.
@@naterskater7709 I’m a little late getting to your comment. For some reason I didn’t get a notification. Did you end up picking up a Shadow? They are all of what you sound like you are looking for and then some!
@@TWOWHEELD no lol it got sold. So now I'm looking at a 2004 victory vegas. Hopefully will be able to talk the dealers down in price since it getting closer to winter!
I am a soon to be 57 year old newbie! I always wanted a bike like my brothers; he had a 1980 Suzuki 750L and it was beautiful! I was actually looking at a Honda rebel 500 as a beginner bike, but I really hated the sound. Then I stumbled on your channel and immediately found a beautiful 2003 Honda shadow spirit. I did the same thing you did, I had the fellow ride the bike to my house. I am taking the Harley-Davidson course this week. I really can’t wait. Thank you for wonderful videos and great advice!
I love reading your back story! Welcome to the motorcycle family and welcome to the channel! Glad you enjoy the videos! I learned on the Shadow and my wife did as well. Might keep it around to see if my daughter wants to learn on it as well. 😊 Good luck on your course and thanks for watching and leaving a comment! Ride safe!
Can I give you some advice from a 45 yr rider, start in the dirt, learn the physics of riding and letting the bike work under you without panicking. Once riding has become more or less reflex, you won’t have to “watch the bike” and you can concentrate fully on the road ahead, way ahead. Be safe
@@troyholt9728 that’s great buddy maybe let us know how it turns/turned out. If you get a chance, test ride a dual sport, KLX, DRZ,CRL etc. they are super light and easy to handle and go anywhere, you may really like those too.
Have you done any modifications to stretch you out a little or is everything stock? The Shadows are such a good all around motorcycle! I like the name! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I am new to riding. I bought a 2002 Honda Shadow Aero off Facebook Marketplace as well. It fits me perfect. I took the MSF Basic Rider Course and obtained my license several weeks ago. I keep going out on short excursions trying to get a more natural feel to being on a bike. Not quite there yet. I know some people ride year long so I still need to get some gear. I'm 65 and like you, always thought I'd own a Harley. I just waited a long, long time before getting my first. I appreciate this video a lot. It tells me my mindset is not that uncommon and that owning/enjoying a bike, well, it's never too late!
That is a great back story! Thank you for sharing! I am glad you enjoyed the video and found it relatable! Hope you enjoy some of our other videos just as much. 😊 Ride safe! ✌🏼
Thanks for riding along with me on this one my TWOWHEELD friends! It was fun talking about how me as a Harley guy, owns and enjoys my Honda Shadow! Don’t forget to subscribe and ring the bell! ✌🏼
That’s absolutely right. It doesn’t matter to me what anyone rides either. I have had similar compliments on my Shadow as well. I can say, I grew up always wanting a Harley. But when I bought my Road King Special, I did buy that bike because of how it looks. If Honda made a touring bike that looks like it, I would have no problem buying that. Or a Yamaha or so on. I appreciate your comment and for watching! Ride safe! 👊🏻
Just bought my first bike, last week. 2016 Honda Shadow. 750. Don’t regret my choice of a bike to learn on one bit. Learning with and thankful for all your content.
They seem to be great motorcycles to learn on. My wife and I both learned on our Shadow Spirit 750. One day I hope our children want to learn on it as well. 😊 Glad you find value in the content. Thanks for watching! Ride safe!
I am 53 and a re-entry rider after 20 years of not riding. I owned a ton of bikes in the 90's, and now I "feel" the same, but my body is not. I have a bad knee and need a low bike for ease at stop lights. This bike is perfect for me.
For sure! Nice low seat height, relatively light. Just a good all around bike for all types of riders at all stages of riding. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Here I am at 33 finally getting around to riding. My MOM owned a HD Electra Glide 100 years anniversary edition back in 03. She passed later in 04. Just in memory of her I decided in my lifetime I would ride for her. Picked up an 04 Shadow the other day with no prior experience. Gonna wait until the weather breaks to learn. But im excited to carry on in her honor. ❤
I love your story! I am excited for you! Get some good practice and take a course and be safe out there! Your mom is smiling down on you. Thanks for sharing!
You are right friend, sometimes we idealize a brand, then we realize that there is a wide range of options out there. Why does it always have to be an HD? They recommend it, myth, aesthetics, sound, etc ... To tell the truth, everyone lives and rides the motorcycle that gives us freedom and good driving. I will buy a Honda Shadow Aero soon, I have done my research and it is the best option for me by far. Greetings and Pura vida from Costa Rica. Please do more videos.
For sure! I will ride what fits my type of riding I want to do, coupled with how it looks and sounds. That’s what is important to me. I like the freedom like you said, and I am just fortunate to be able to have two motorcycles parked in the garage. Thanks for watching! New videos every Thursday! ✌🏼
I'm 6'4" and been riding a 08 burgman 400 for 5 years then the bug bit me. Got the m endorsement. Started looking. First my eyes were on a used breakout 103. Then I saw the slim model, fell in love with it. Liked the design and that it came with floorboards which is a plus for me. So last December saved my money for a long time and got my 21 slim in billiard red with a cashiers check for christmas. When I got it it had 9 miles on it, now it has 4k miles. Everytime I stop at a light, crusin,or just getting off of it I get tons of compliments, even my dad calls me "the hoodlum on the harley" put a set of deluxe pipes on it.
Right on! Congrats! Sounds like a beautiful bike! Our neighbors have a Slim that has been custom painted and built out. Love the looks and sound of them! Thank you for sharing your story with us, and thank you for watching! Ride safe! 👊🏻
I gotta laugh a bit. I spent most of my adolescent years in Aberdeen, so when I stumbled across your video and hearing your accent I knew you were from Sodak. After buying a shadow and only owning Harleys all my riding life. I love the Honda and feel kinda guilty about it.... it needed work and I fixed it up and got it ripping and it's become more of a passion to ride it. I stilllove my ultra for touring, but it's nice riding a zippy bike that I can get around on easily and quickly that gets good mileage. Maintenance is cheaper and quicker and I have had no issue getting parts... I even found an OEM fuel pump for it that I replaced since it was gummed up. I actually rode the sportsters, 883 and 1200 and think the shadow is more comfortable on bad roads. Mine came with a mustang seat and that was helpful too as it adds a ton of comfort. Of you get a tall memphis shades windshield and bags this things a tourer, knobbies and you got an adv.... as versatile as the harley without the sound, bar and shield....
That’s cool you recognized a SD accent! 😆 Welcome! Where are you at these days? You definitely nailed it right on the head! I have thought about putting some knobby tires on the Shadow or setting it up for winter riding, just haven’t taken the steps to do so. Lol. Thanks for your comment t and back story!
I put the first mile on my 1999 Honda Shadow ACE 750 when I was 24 years old back in 1999. I'm still riding it and now I'm 46 years old. I feel like that last sentence says it all don't you?
At 68 I decided I wanted to ride. Picked up an 09 Shadow Spirit for $2,800. A little over a year later I upgraded to a Honda Shadow Sabre 1100. More room, more power, smoother by far on the highway. Still haven't gotten around to selling the Spirit.
That is awesome you got into riding at 68! I love reading comments like this! Might as well keep that Spirit for around town and use the Sabre for your longer rides. 😉 Thanks for watching!
I own the exact same bike - first time rider and I go for.my endorsement today - I fully related to everything in this video - was looking for a harley until I found mine with 3500 miles - 2200 bucks - winner
Wow, I can’t believe how similar our history is! I’ve wanted a touring Harley for awhile but settled for the “affordable “ Shadow. Mine is a 2006 VT750DC and I’ve been riding it for two seasons also. I really like this bike but the V&H Straightshots exhaust is just a little too loud for me. You’re right, my Shadow has been rock solid and I’ve been following the maintenance schedule. I still want an HD but I’m really satisfied with my Shadow. I’ve done quite a few mods and I’m thinking about checking out the jets. I rode a Honda 250 about 45 years ago for 3 years and haven’t ridden until two years ago. But, I better hurry and decide before I get too old to hold one up!
Thanks for sharing your story, Jim! I am happy I found this bike, and didn’t sell it at the end of last season like I had planned! I almost put on the V&H instead of the Cobra. Need to do the jets yet as well. When the time comes that we get too old to hold one up, then maybe we put ourselves on a trike for that stability. Thanks for watching, and hope you stop by again sometime! Ride safe!
i`m in the same spot you are allmost :D .. 42 .. no license for MC yet .. and i really really want it :D , just costs 10 k here to get the license . tad expensive. thats around 1900 bucks for the license alone with everything included ofc
Everything you said in this video describes ME ....I'm struggling right now with a decision about my first motorcycle I'm a big HD fan but I'm afraid to drop it or whatever so I'm taking into consideration to get a honda shadow or Suzuki boulevard c50, or Suzuki intruder whatever just a cheap Japanese cruiser to learn how to ride ( I did my MSF course 2 years ago ) my friend just bought his first motorcycle which is 2005 Softail. He took it to a huge high school parking lot and I followed him in my car and he gave me his bike to ride on that parking lot I said to him NO WAY this thing weight 710 lbs and has 1500cc displacement you want me to drop him ? he said don't worry you gonna be fine just take it and play with it a little so I did. Man that was the best motorcycle day in my life and since then ( it was about a month ago ) I can't sleep I still hear that beautiful engine and pipes in my head. Now winter is coming but next year I have to get something I just have to. ( you live in a beautiful quiet area perfect for motorcycle riding and I live in an urban area there are no farms around me its a city after city with heavy traffic I don't even have a place to learn and practice that also scares me I'm looking at google earth just to find a good area so I can ride and practice I would have to go 20 miles thru the city and heavy traffic just to get to the place where we have some farms so this area where I live is also very depressing when I think about my motorcycle.)
Where are you from? Best thing is just find an empty lot like your buddy did and practice as much as you can. Sometimes just in the driveway works for finding the friction zone and feeling the weight of the bike. Just sit on a bunch of them and find what fits you the best and what you are most comfortable with for engine size. Some bikes are more forgiving than others. The bikes you mentioned should be pretty good for forgiveness for a new rider. Keep an eye open over winter. You might pick up a good deal. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Welcome to the channel!
Thank you! I can’t remember what was all done at the time of this video, but I do know it had the Cobra Streetrod Slashdown exhaust on it. Since, it has had some carb work and air box work done to it to open it up. Definitely livened the bike. Thanks for watching!
@@TWOWHEELD I have the Candy Dark Red one. But it looks a bit different than those imported to USA, mine has fuel injection and chrome plates on the tank. Looks something like this: bikez.com/motorcycles/honda_shadow_spirit_750_dc_vt_750_dc_2007.php
Great video, I stumbled upon your channel because I was looking for reviews or comparisons between a Honda shadow and a sportster 883. I still consider myself a newbie although I have been practicing on and off for over a year now. I consider this year to be my first real riding season. I started off on a 250 Honda rebel, sold that, I got cocky and bought a sportster 883 super low. Thought it was comfortable for me and quickly realized after I purchased it and rode around town that it was just too clunky and top-heavy. I’m 411 on a good day and even though I did have it lowered it just wasn’t working out for me. So I really wasn’t riding it. I bought another Honda rebel 250 and started riding that and feel that I’ve come along way in my skill level. I just recently sold the Harley and started looking into the Honda Shadow‘s, Phantom, Aero , and the Spirit. This time I’m taking my time, not feeling cocky and hoping to make the right decision when choosing my next upgraded bike but the Honda Shadow‘s are definitely at the top of my list. All the controls seem to be the same from one Honda to another and that that’s a good thing.
Thank you. It’s good that you realized everything you mentioned and decided to make a change to be safer. The Honda’s seem to have pretty simple controls and the ones you mentioned. Plus the low seat height will hopefully help you. Good luck on finding the right fit! Keep us posted what you go with. Thanks for commenting and finding the channel! ✌🏼
@@TWOWHEELD I definitely will and I am a new subscriber to your channel. I have a channel to so I will most likely make a post about it on there. I don’t post that often because really I’m very busy but I’m doing my best to keep it up.
nice video. you have described my experience almost perzaktly as my own. looked at the 883, my buddies laffed at me for looking at a "Skirtster" so i looked at the street bob ect... i finaly started looking at the style of bike i love, a stripped, low, mild ape single seat Bobber... i googled Cool Bobber, Blue Collar Bobbers came up, and walla!!! i found a Honda Shadow vlx600, plenty fast for me and im part by part bulding a sweet lil bobber in memory of my Brother Blair, going to call it Broseff. my first bike was a stolen recovery (and pretty messed up) 87 V-max dumb fast near died on it in 1989, totaled, scared the pants off me and i have not ridden since up until this spring '21 when my bro passed felt the need to get out in the wind. feels like FREEDOM! i ride when i miss the ones who are past, and they ride with me.
Thank you for watching and leaving this comment! It is great to hear your story of why you began riding again! You are riding with a great purpose and I admire that! Never ride what others feel you should ride. Ride what you want and what fits your style the best. It sounds like you have done that and I bet you have an amazing looking bike by how you describe it. I have often considered doing a similar build to our Honda, but I feel it is too nice to chop up so to say. One day, I want to find a beat up one, and build it out how I want and do the work myself. Thanks again for being here! Ride safe and give that throttle a twist for your bro. 😊
I just did a MSF rider course and got my motorcycle license last week. I’m a bigger guy and 5’ 11”. Gonna be buying a 2007 Shadow 750 with 11,000 miles on it for $3,000 on Friday
I just got a 94 Shadow 1100cc and I love this bike. My starter bike was also a Honda, 1980 CB750c and I was looking to step up in cruiser style and the Shadow 1100cc nails it for me.
@@TWOWHEELD I'd say if you haven't looked at Honda Valkyrie bikes you definitely should. They've got the 1500cc 6 cylinder gold wing motors on them but in a cruiser styling so the engine is visible. That's my next step up after I put a ton of miles on this Shadow 😃
Been riding the exact same bike for 3 years now, just replaced the tubes and tires..brand new battery....the bike handles great....you always get looks when on a shadow
You should be able to get some at your local motorcycle shop, or there are places online to find them. Just make sure to search for your specific bike so you get the correct ones. Revzilla, J&P Cycles, Dennis Kirk, EBay, Amazon, there are many places to search.
The bike you're riding was my exact first motorcycle. The 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit with the ghost flame tank. It was a wonderful first bike and I loved it for the 3 years I owned it.
I ride a Spirit 750 also. Mainly because I haven't found the right Harley. I've been riding my whole life but didn't own my own street bike until a couple years ago. My buddy decided to buy a Road King and had plans to sell his Shadow. Well I bugged him until he would sell m the bike. I think he was worried that our friendship would be compromised if something went wrong with the bike (would never happen). Anyway, I've ridden the shit out of my Shadow. It is a fun bike. It has straight pipes an aftermarket air cleaner and the carbs have been re jetted. Those mods helped immensely with performance.
Those mods definitely make a difference! Since this video was made, I have done the same and the performance is drastically different. Thank you for sharing your comment and for watching! 👊🏻
Started riding at 56 and bought an Aero 750. I love my Shadow. It's a 2015 model with ABS and fuel injected. Myself and my friend have just done Route 66. (we are from Ireland) and on two heritages. Have to say I loved the Heritage also and have been keeping an eye out for one. But I'm not sure. The Shadow is just perfect for me.
Very nice! That is cool you were in the States and were able to ride Route 66! The Heritages are definitely a nice bike, but you are right, if the Shadow is perfect for you and your style of riding, that may be all you need. Thank you for your comment!
I hear ya! I have been looking around to figure out some options of what I would like to do. You should be able to find some forwards pretty easily. I bet that would make a big difference for you! Thanks for watching!
I’m a big guy that’s been looking for my first motorcycle & all I keep seeing & hearing is about the Honda Rebels & Honda Shadows. I definitely want to get one or the other when I save enough money kuzz man they just look so beautiful & so much fun!
I would hit some dealerships and sit on a few and see how you feel on them. Then go from there. I did the same and learned what was too small for me from the get go. They definitely do look nice! Good luck!
I bought my first bike, a '78 cb750, earlier in the year, and I decided that I'm going to make it a project bike. Looking for a second bike to ride till the cb project is done, and I'm considering a shadow...
I'm looking at a 93 Honda shadow 1100 right now for my first bike. I'm a little worried that I'm 6'5 but hoping by next week I'll have the extra funds to pick it up
Nice! If you find yourself a little cramped up on it, you can always try different style pegs or boards under your feet, adjust the bars, or even a different seat may help you. I’m a little cramped on my 750, but haven’t adjusted anything. I just put up with it and ride! Lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great story I've road metric bikes for years till I decided to spend money on a used harley-davidson but still have a 1500cc kawasaki nomad for comfort rides and in my opinion ride what you feel comfortable with regardless of make or model
I started riding just last year. I have a 2001 vlx600 it’s perfect because it seems “forgiving “ like an old school horse. I hope your wife does take an interest it riding, it’s so fun, and you would be agreat mentor.
Lisa B. Thanks for the kind words! I think it would be cool if she did! Yes, very forgiving and pretty lightweight just like my 750. Thanks for watching, Lisa!
Great story! In my 20's my first bike was a Kawasaki KZ 440 great to learn on. Sold it when I moved and always regretted it. Bought a Rebel Feb of this year to see if I still had the bug but it was to small so I gave that to my son and bought my Shadow vlx 600. Still small but I love my (Mercury)
Balisong in the key of G I am glad you enjoyed my story. I think a lot of people have that one bike they wish they never sold. I still own both of mine, but I think if I sold the Shadow, it would be the one I regret. lol. The vlx has two wheels and gets you around! What would be your dream bike?
Yamaha VMax would be nice but I would probably kill myself. I really like the Honda Fury. I never really had an interest in Davidsons. See what I did there?
I got myself a 2006 honda nighthawk 250 when I moved to FL this year. I had my cert from last summer, but moved last December. I learned on it fairly well, and it was comfortable. I'm extremely limited in options being 5'6" and only a 30" seam. I made the mistake of getting a 1989 Honda VTR250 when I moved, and it killed my back. So no more sport bikes hahaha. Now seeking a 650 burgman.
WhatsBlackIsWhite if you are ever looking at other options, seats make a difference on height, so swapping that out may help and there are options of lowering springs if needed. Then there are bikes they just make lower all together, but then you have to leave the Honda label. Lol. Thanks for dropping by again!
I’ve got a 2014 honda shadow aero with aftermarket vance & hines pipes, k&n intake, computer and had a dyno done. Runs great, no problem. Also mustang seats windshield and cruise control. Great bike. But my first ever bike(moped) a 1977 honda express. I was 13.. lol
Sounds very nice! Sometimes I wish mine were fuel injected and have cruise control like the newer ones. The Shadows are great bikes! That’s pretty cool you started riding like that at 13!
I bought my first bike 4 years ago. 05 Honda Shadow Aero 750. Never a problem with it. I bought a Suzuki Boulevard a few months ago. Both amazing bikes
I’m 6’2” and comfortably ride a Shadow VLX 600. But, I started on a Yamaha V Star 250 in 2021, and rode that bike all over the country, almost 18,000 miles that first summer. So, it may be just what you get use to. I Purchased the Honda VLX 600 in December of 2021. I rode it to California and down into Baja Mexico this last spring. This motorcycle stuff is addictive!!
That sounds like a lot of fun you have had! That’s awesome you have traveled so much in a 250 and your 600! It probably is a lot of what you get used to. Motorcycle riding is definitely addictive! We appreciate you watching and commenting! Ride safe!
@@TWOWHEELD I think I passed by your hometown today 09/12/2022. I rode from my hometown of Omaha, NE and I’m in Grand Forks tonight. Hopefully on my way into Canada tomorrow. If Fingers crossed works.🤞
😆 That very well could be! I had that thought, but wasn’t going to say it. 😆 I thought the 750 was comfortable until I got my 07 Road King and learned that was more comfortable. Now my 19 Road King is more comfortable than that one. Just depends on the type of riding a person does the majority of the time I suppose.
It’s difficult for Harley boys to understand Japanese bike manufacturers because Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda don’t breakdown if you so much as look at them wrong….. there’s also a truth that Harley boys don’t like to hear and that is Japanese bikes, especially Honda, have more parts actually made in the USA than Harley does. Harley Davidson is almost entirely manufactured outside the USA. Which is just hilarious! The “mOsT aMeRiCaN mOtOrCyClE” is made of foreign parts! I don’t know much about Indian motorcycles or where those are actually made. But since they’re made by Polaris now, I feel like the bike looks better than it actually performs. Do I like the look of Harley bikes? Yes! I like the 883, the Softail and the Lowrider S. They look great but they just aren’t reliable and way too expensive. I will always make fun of Harley guys because 9 of 10 Harley guys are entirely close minded to everyone who rides anything besides a Harley, they literally treat you like a second class rider. Not all of them, like this guy in the video is great. But most Harley boys are just absolutely insufferable.
You broke this down very well. I grew up always wanting a Harley-Davidson, but when the time came to buy, I bought this Honda Shadow to learn on. Three months later, I bought a Road King and then eventually old that and bought a newer one. I alternate riding both bikes when my wife, who just began riding as you may have seen, isn’t riding. Thank you for recognizing how open minded I am when it comes to the motorcycle world. I don’t care what people are riding, as long as they are on two wheels or three wheels, they earn my respect. I wave to them all on the road.
I don't currently own my own motorcycle, but in the MSF class I took last year I rode a Rebel 300, which was the first bike I've ever ridden. Great fun, felt nice, but my legs were absolutely cramped to hell and back (6' on a good day :^)) and hurt A LOT. Either I was simply using leg muscles I've never really used, I need to find a taller bike, or need forward controls. I'm in a similar boat you were as I initially wanted an 883, but now I'm leaning towards a Shadow Phantom. A bit cheaper, forward controls, still looks and sounds great, and a bit of nostalgia as my father rode a Shadow back in the 80s before I was born.
Yeah, it definitely sounds like you need a bike you can stretch out on. I am 6’2” and I am cramped up on my Shadow Spirit. I would go to some dealerships and just sit on some bikes. Have someone hold the bike up for you so you can put both feet up. That will help you out a lot. Yes, going the Phantom route would be a big savings. Thanks for watching and commenting!
You mention the bike is a little small for you. How tall are you? I ride a 2020 V-Strom650 XTA and love it except it is a little tall for me at 5'9" and too tall for my 5 foot girlfriend to enjoy riding. I saw an older Shadow yesterday for sale and I am seriously thinking about buying a 2022 or newer Shadow as a second bike. Nice video!
I am almost 6’3” and my wife is 5’10”, and this bike we can both easily flat foot with our knees bent. If o remember correctly, seat height is around 26”, so it’s relatively low. I would throw your leg over that Shadow and see how it feels. Your girlfriend may have to do the one foot down type thing, or tip toes. I hope that gives you a little bit more info to go on. Thanks for watching!
Your story and mine are very similar 😂 wanted a new harley ended up getting a used Honda shadow. Talked the guy down a little bit and had it delivered. Mine is a '98 1100
Nice! Those 1100’s are a perfect bike for someone new to someone that may have been riding for a while as far as all around power and comfort. Good choice!
Had 5 Japanese bikes. Yamaha Virago, Yamaha Fazer 600, Kawasaki Z750, Yamaha Bolt. All super bikes. Now riding a Harley streetbob 107 stage 2. And tomorrow I’ll have the new Low rider S. Harley is…. Something special. Buy that Harley. Yolo! 😊
Thank you for watching and sharing your progression through your bikes. It’s cool to hear you will have a new Low Rider S! You will definitely like that! There is definitely something different about a Harley! I bought one three months after buying my Shadow, and then still kept the Shadow. Eventually I upgraded my 2007 Road King to my current 2019 Road King Special and my wife has a 2018 Heritage. They are all fun to ride. Ride safe!
Thanks for the information. I have done a fair amount to boost this bike’s performance since this video was recorded. 😊 I know there are a few more recent videos that go through some of those upgrades to performance. Check out the “Shadowday” folder. Thanks for watching!
I got my endorsement on a 2012 Honda rebel my first bike was a 2009 Suzuki duel sport 650 but I kept dropping it . I did not know it had a mono shock that was adjustable.
I’ve ridden a 883, fxr, shadow 1100, and a Honda shadow 600 hands down the Honda was my favorite incredibly light and nimble and the 36hp is more then enough with a sprocket change
They definitely are fun bikes to ride! Especially if you can make a few changes like you mentioned. Not something that can be done with the shaft drive model like mine, though. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@TWOWHEELDcame back to this video because I bought a 2007 spirit couple days ago I did a long chopper build with the 600 like casa custom one and it wasn’t worth riding daily
I'm kinda the same way myself. The only non American brand in my house growing up was honda so ive had alot of hondas. I have a cb750 chopper project. My daily shadow 750 ace, and i really want to get a softail standard one day when I'm a little more comfortable in life and if the economy turns around.
you do it the right way , and the Honda will give you the joy you need, just saying since we all want a Harley as the cruiser, but it cost to maintain them in good condition and they are expensive to buy so a Honda or Yamaha is a good start, since MC is a big ego trip thing :),,, if you live with anyone
Sounds like you found a pretty good deal! You can definitely buy a Honda for a lot less than a Harley. You might be able to find an old Sportster for $3000-$4000, but it would be just that, old. A 2011 Sportster around here would probably sell for around $5000. Honda is definitely more affordable to buy. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
Instead of a bar you could put forward controls on it. I have a '96 Shadow ACE and the controls are very far forward. Look into it, might solve you issue.
Thank you. I know Spirit comes with a forward control on them. They are up there a ways. I need to check into if there is anything to take then a bit further. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Sure! I wouldn’t mind taking a look at them. My wife currently is the main one riding it now and it’s about perfect for her, but if we find her a bigger bike to ride, I will probably be back on it around town more again. dustin@twowheeld.com
for what its worth Ive had a lot of bikes including 3 goldwings ,a 1500 vulcan a gsxr 750 [tons of power] and Im literally going to pick up a nice little 750 shadow tomorrow I started small went for a few big and fast bikes and as I age [63] Im going down in size for managability, Im actually looking forward to riding a mid size again..thanks for a great video
I am 76, and now riding a Honda Shadow VLX 600. I had a Honda VT1100, but it got a little too heavy for me, so I sold it and found this VLX. Now i can keep riding for awhile, because I can hold it up.
That is so awesome to hear! I can only hope I am still riding at 76! I love reading comments like these! Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
Yeah, it comes down to fit, form and function in a way. Which one fits you best and then which one makes you smile looking at the most? If the answer matches, then you know which one to go with. Pop back and let us know if you think of it! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I never stated it to be. I wouldn’t recommend the 1100 to a beginner. Some beginners would be just fine on it, I know I personally would have been. Most should start out on something smaller. There are a lot of variables that go into to it. Height, weight, mental acuity, coordination and so on. That will all determine where you can begin. My Shadow is specifically a shaft driven 745cc bike. It’s pretty forgiving, and pretty doggish. Hope that helps clear that up a little. I also have a 2019 Road King with a 114 in it and my wife rides a 2018 Heritage 114. My Shadow can go any place our Harley’s can go, but I would never try to take it on more than 100 Mike trip do to comfort. A bigger frame bike is just so much better for me. I say, ride what you wanna ride. I love them all.
Im curious.. when you ride with all that gear do you feel like u are safer and that you can take more, risk? I grew up riding horses and bicycles without protection. Now i ride without and helmet and shorts , if the weather is hot. Be brave, be free! Enjoy the ride!!!!
I rarely ride without a helmet. I don’t wear a helmet to be able to take more risk. I wear it in the event something goes south, and my head is skipping across the ground, I have a face left afterwards. I also wear a helmet because I prefer to ride without a windshield. So it helps keep the bugs and rocks from hitting me in the face. I also wear a helmet so I can record these videos. I have a microphone in my helmet and camera attached. I also prefer to wear gloves when riding. Not only will that be the first thing you put down to catch yourself, they also help protect against rocks and bugs. I typically only wear jeans and a lot of times street shoes for the rest of gear. Unless it is cold like now. Some mornings when I am leaving the house, it is 30-35 degrees. I will wear my leather jacket, and soon leather chaps to keep warm. A helmet comes in handy here as well. I also grew up riding bicycle without a helmet or any protection. I survived a number of injuries from broken bones to stitches due to spending a lot of time on two wheels when I was a kid. I always believe in ride your own ride. Hopefully that answered your question? Thanks for watching and commenting.
I always rode Japanese bikes. Test rode a HD 1200 spotter 20 years ago and was not expressed with it. I did technically had an American motorcycle with my 1999 Honda Ace Shadow tour. It was made in Ohio. Loved that bike but my wife ran into a parked car and at 10 mph and was considered totaled. Haven’t rode a motorcycle since 2007 but still have my endorsement that I had since 1974 and getting the itch to get another one now that I am retired.
Thank you for sharing some back story with us! Sorry to hear that it got totaled out! That’s the kind of bike that would be great to jump back on after taking all those years off from riding. 😊 Thanks for watching! Keep us posted if you find another bike and start riding again!
Very good video! My first Motorcycle was a Honda Shadow VLX 600. Excellent beginner Bike, a bit slow but that's what I needed. I ended up with a Kawasaki Vulcon 900 Custom, A very nice Bike. I sold it and I don't ride anymore but I'm getting that itch, again! LOL! I just need a place to store a Bike, if I had a place, I would still have one! Best of luck, be safe!
Thanks for watching and commenting! I am glad you enjoyed the video! I hear that often from people, that they have the itch again. Having a good storage space makes all the difference! Our vehicles are sitting outside this winter so the motorcycles can be stored inside. Lol. I hope things work out for you soon to get one again! ✌🏼
I've had 3 different bikes but my first street bike was an 87 yamaha radian 600, it went pretty good & was quick at the start. I sold it with hopes of getting a Harley sportster back in 1990. Never did get the Harley or another bike for that matter, now I'm 61 & had a heart attack & thinking to myself why the hell don't I have a bike. Life is short so why not enjoy it a little, so I'm seriously looking for an older 750 spirit, got a freind who will be selling his. I may have a chance to buy it but my wife is giving me a hard time over it. Hard to say at this point if it'll ever happen but I'm hoping for it.
Sorry to hear of your heart attack! Life is definitely short! I would say if you can, buy it! I am so glad I pulled the trigger when I bought mine! It’s easier to ask for forgiveness, than it is for permission! 😉
That’s awesome! You ride that thing! Crazy how you doubled the miles in such a shorter amount of time as it’s beginning stages of its life! I like hearing from people you turn those miles!
That 07 maybe fuel injected. 73 XL 250 in 76. All I ever owned are Honda's. 2 xls,71 cb750,cx500d and my shadow ACE 750. I have 64k on it and have owned it for 20 years.
My 07 Road King was fuel injected, but this 07 Shadow is carbureted. That’s pretty cool all you have owned is Honda! You can’t go wrong with Honda at all! That’s impressive you have had your ACE for 20 years! Idk if I will ever keep a bike that long! Time will tell. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Very similar bike to this one. I had almost considered selling my Spirit and buying a newer Phantom a while back, but decided just to keep the one I have. I love the mostly blacked out look on them. I say if it fits you, go for it. Congratulations on your endorsement as well!
I started riding at seven years old it was a Honda 50 cc. I think it was in 1966 I am 66 years old now and I am now riding a shadow 1100 and sportster 1200
Greetings from far far Bulgaria land! You're inteligent and wise , so I have no doubt subscribing you. Sorry for my bad english! P.S - I love Honda Shadow's. I ride vulcan 500, but some day I'd love to try some shadow feeling. Stay safe
Thank you! You are too kind! Nice to hear you love the Honda Shadows! The Vulvan’s are a nice bike as well! Welcome to the channel and thank you for saying hello!
Our Honda Shadow Spirt VT750C2 is a 745cc engine with a single carb. It has a five speed transmission. That probably tells a lot right there. It’s a very adequate motorcycle for all types of riders, but stock compared to the upgrades we have done are definitely noticed in the power category. Hope that helps some! Thanks for watching!
Cool story. It sounds like you did pretty well - Nice Bike, Helmet, and Delivery for what seems like a fair price. My first bike was a 1987 (Not entirely sure on the year) Suzuki GS 450L and I paid roughly $650 for it. It was a little tired and well used but it was a good bike to learn on (mostly because I wouldn’t be heartbroken if I dropped it while learning).
Walt In PA yeah, I felt I got a fair deal. I compared to others around my area before buying. A tired, $650 bike for a beginner sounds like a good idea. It’s hard to find bikes that cheap anymore. They get snatched up pretty quick to be bobbed out. Thanks for watching!
I've had harleys.. softail classic roadkings.. electra glide.. they are ok.. I have had Japanese bikes.. honda Sabres and valkyrie.. vstars and roadstars suzuki 1500 kawi nomads.. they are ok as well.. the bike I really miss letting go was the valkyrie.. but now I'm much older.. and thinking about going smaller and man the honda 750 or boulevard 800 sure appeal to me right now.. I have riddin either though
Sounds like you have owned a nice variety. That’s really cool! I may be biased, but I think the Shadow would be a great bike to look at to go smaller than the bigger bikes you mentioned above. When I ride my Road King for a while, then hop on the Shadow, it seems like a toy and is so light in comparison! Come back and let us know if you find something! Thank you for commenting!
That’s a great alternative! I think a lot of people start out the same way! Plus, Honda makes an extremely reliable motorcycle! So that makes it great to start out with as well! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Yes. It is a GoPRo 7 Black. I have two of them and I would definitely buy another. There are newer models available, but I don’t know much about the technology to them.
@@Zbychoslaw I’m not entirely sure what you mean. The battery life lasts me between 45-60 minutes. You can hook the camera up to record while it is charging. Then it will record as much as your SD card will hold basically.
This is a 2 year old video, but there's never a reason to sell a paid for bike... I got a Road King, but I'll never get rid of my Honda Shadow Aero VT750... Little workhorse...& I can keep most of the local miles off the Road King, which is my touring bike... I do ride it locally too, just because it's cool as hell & I got it, but I love the fuel mileage & dependability of my Honda... I've had it 9 years next month & almost 40K miles & still runs like it did when I first got it...& still occasionally tour on it just because I can... but usually only if the Road King is ailing these days... Lol!
You said this perfectly! This Shadow is still in the stable along with my 2019 RKS and my wife’s 2018 Heritage. I am trying to do the same as you. Put the mikes on the Honda locally, but find it tough to stay off the RKS at times as well! Love your comment! Thanks for watching! Ride safe. 👊🏻
Cobra Streetrod Slashdown. If you search around a little in the Shadowday playlist, you should come across some videos that show it a bit more and show some of the other upgrades I did in addition to the exhaust such as the carb and air box.
Bummer! Take a look at the Rebel. I believe there is a 250 and 500 out there. Don’t hold me to that, as I can’t remember if the 250 is under that name, but they are a lot lighter. I remember riding the 250 at my learners course and it was very light. Hope that helps!
I’m 5’11 a little on the heavy side. I’m looking to getting an 06 Honda shadow Aero. Will I be fine or to big for this bike? Granted I will be a beginner and my first bike
You might be fine with it. You will probably feel a little big for it. That’s how I feel on my Shadow, but I make it work. Just check the specs and make sure it seems like a fit for you. I know a lot of bigger guys ride Shadows. Once you learn the ropes, you can decide from there. If you can, I would definitely sit on it before buying to make sure you feel comfortable and don’t let the emotion force you into buying if you aren’t comfortable. Hope that helps some.
I rode my 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit half-way around Australia (see my channel for the videos) and it's a reliable, comfortable and fun bike to ride. Great vid TwoWheeld, I've subscribed and looking forward to your next vid! :D
That is so awesome! I will have to check out your channel! Glad you enjoyed the video! I’m excited for riding season to be starting up soon again! Thanks for watching and commenting, and welcome to the TWOWHEELD fam!
"nobody every needs one" well when gas goes up over 2 dollars a gallon pretty quickly and i see that sporty getting 50+ mpg, she my friend is looking quite sweet
That is awesome to hear! I agree on how good of bikes they are! Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
I’ve been looking to buy a Shadow for my first bike. What Shadow should I try to pursue and what generation/years would you recommend?
All of them. 😂 The 750s are pretty versatile for new and old riders. It is something you may be happy with long term, and it can teach the ropes. A 1300 is going to be a little heavier and have more power, and not something I would start with. The newer Phantoms are nice as well. Then you get into fuel injection versus the carburetor. It’s just whatever your preference is for over all looks. My Shadow has been a great bike for myself to learn on, and my wife. Maybe one day my daughter will learn on it as well. Hope that helps some!
So true best motor made
@@TWOWHEELD thoughts on the 80s shadows?
I bought a 22 Shadow Aero as my first bike, and I'm not even slightly disappointed in my option! It was something I desired; a bike with a classic look, not too heavy, and something easy to learn on. She has character, she isn't too slow or too fast, and she looks great wherever she goes! Easy maintenance too, it was a steal of a deal! If you want reliability and long lasting fun, Shadows are the way to go!
Definitely a good all around bike just as you described. 😊 Thank you for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
how much does a brand new 22 shadow cost out the door?
@@SidDogra-iy9nj It was just over 11k all said and done. That's with tabs, reg, etc. Might be more or less around that range
Thanks for being a part of the channel and commenting!
nothing wrong with your English ,understand your comment perfectly
Thanks for your experience. 54 and I just bought my first bike after nearly 30 years out of the saddle. Went with a 2024 Shadow Phantom off the showroom floor 7 days ago. I'm back in love with riding all over again.
That’s awesome to hear! Congrats on the new bike and for getting back on a bike! Thanks for watching!
@CalmApron-nl7lw that is nice you have that ability to ride all those options!

I was actually looking at a Honda rebel 500 as a beginner bike, but I really hated the sound. Then I stumbled on your channel and immediately found a beautiful 2003 Honda shadow spirit. Can I give you some advice from a 45 yr rider, start in the dirt, learn the physics of riding and letting the bike work under you without panicking. Once riding has become more or less reflex, you won’t have to “watch the bike” and you can concentrate fully on the road ahead, way ahead. Be safe

I own a 2002 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 and I'm 6'2". I absolutely love that bike. My wife named her The Mistress.

Started riding at 51, two years ago. 2014 Triumph Bonneville T100. 3rd riding season and still enjoying it.
That’s awesome you started! I wish I would have started younger!
I put the first mile on my 1999 Honda Shadow ACE 750 when I was 24 years old back in 1999. I'm still riding it and now I'm 46 years old. I feel like that last sentence says it all don't you?
Wow! Very impressive! That is awesome! Do the maintenance on them and they run virtually forever! 👍🏻 Thank you for your comment!
Sounds like you scored a deal! Good luck on your endorsement! I love reading comments like these!

Good practice for you. Be safe. Glad to hear you are super excited about it. Once you get the riding bug, it doesn’t go away. 😊
Great video. I like your story and the process you went through.
Does your bike have the stock exhaust or aftermarket? It sounds perfect.
Thank you!
I can’t remember what was all done at the time of this video, but I do know it had the Cobra Streetrod Slashdown exhaust on it. Since, it has had some carb work and air box work done to it to open it up. Definitely livened the bike.

nice video. you have described my experience almost perzaktly as my own. looked at the 883, my buddies laffed at me for looking at a "Skirtster" so i looked at the street bob ect... i finaly started looking at the style of bike i love, a stripped, low, mild ape single seat Bobber... i googled Cool Bobber, Blue Collar Bobbers came up, and walla!!! i found a Honda Shadow vlx600, plenty fast for me and im part by part bulding a sweet lil bobber in memory of my Brother Blair, going to call it Broseff. my first bike was a stolen recovery (and pretty messed up) 87 V-max dumb fast near died on it in 1989, totaled, scared the pants off me and i have not ridden since up until this spring '21 when my bro passed felt the need to get out in the wind. feels like FREEDOM! i ride when i miss the ones who are past, and they ride with me.

Very nice! They are such nice motorcycles!

At 6' 2" with shoes, my Shadow Spirit could use two more inches for me either in the seat or the controls or one inch in each. Shadow VT1100C.

Yamaha VMax would be nice but I would probably kill myself. I really like the Honda Fury. I never really had an interest in Davidsons. See what I did there?
Balisong in the key of G I see what you did there! Yes a Fury would be cool!

Yep! You would have went by in I29! That’s pretty cool how close you were! Are you on your bike?
Ride safe!
If you're lacking performance on your shadow, change all 4 plugs ( 18mm thin wall socket) 2 plugs per cylinder. Runs like new,

I got my endorsement on a 2012 Honda rebel my first bike was a 2009 Suzuki duel sport 650 but I kept dropping it . I did not know it had a mono shock that was adjustable.
Amazing how setup or even different bikes can impact things like that!
I’ve ridden a 883, fxr, shadow 1100, and a Honda shadow 600 hands down the Honda was my favorite incredibly light and nimble and the 36hp is more then enough with a sprocket change

you do it the right way , and the Honda will give you the joy you need, just saying since we all want a Harley as the cruiser, but it cost to maintain them in good condition and they are expensive to buy so a Honda or Yamaha is a good start, since MC is a big ego trip thing :),,, if you live with anyone

Just picked up a 2011 Shadow aero for $2,000 under 10,000 miles what kind of Harley could you get for $2,000?
Sounds like you found a pretty good deal! You can definitely buy a Honda for a lot less than a Harley. You might be able to find an old Sportster for $3000-$4000, but it would be just that, old. A 2011 Sportster around here would probably sell for around $5000. Honda is definitely more affordable to buy. Appreciate you watching and commenting!

@@TWOWHEELD sent you a few pics. I'm gonna pull her out of the shed tomorrow and take a short ride. I'll get some better pictures if you like.
Thank you for sharing. I think your pics show how far forward they are pretty well. I will have to see if this is something we would want to do.
for what its worth Ive had a lot of bikes including 3 goldwings ,a 1500 vulcan a gsxr 750 [tons of power] and Im literally going to pick up a nice little 750 shadow tomorrow I started small went for a few big and fast bikes and as I age [63] Im going down in size for managability, Im actually looking forward to riding a mid size again..thanks for a great video
These Honda Shadows are just good all around motorcycles! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!
Ride safe!
I'm thinking about a shadow myself...but I really really like the boulevard c50 as well...from what I see they are pretty equal..thx for review
Yeah, it comes down to fit, form and function in a way. Which one fits you best and then which one makes you smile looking at the most? If the answer matches, then you know which one to go with. Pop back and let us know if you think of it! Thanks for watching and commenting!
How the fork is my 1100 Shadow a beginner bike? It's as good performer as any Harley cruiser.
Not a Harley Guy on a Honda, but a David's Son on his Shadow. 28.08.00 what a day!
Very nice! I love your comment! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have a 2019 Honda shadow aero 750 and I love it
Right on! 👍🏻 Ride safe!
@@TWOWHEELD Thank you, me Too!
2002 honda shadow vlx 600 was my first bike. It was bobbed out
I bet that looked great! I like how they look as a bobber!
You and me both
I've had 3 different bikes but my first street bike was an 87 yamaha radian 600, it went pretty good & was quick at the start.
Bought a 1998 Ace 2 years ago with. 14, 000 miles on it now 28,000 .very dependable .. customize it into a Bagger to much to list.
I also own a Honda shadow 1100 and a Harley and I like both for different reasons
Same here! It gives us a different style of riding to switch it up a bit. Thanks for watching!
Just bought a Honda Shadow ACE 750. First Bike. Paid $2500. Learning to ride. 😁
Awesome! Congratulations! Welcome to the TWOWHEELD family! Sounds like you picked up a pretty good deal!
Any thoughts on the Phantoms? I just earned my endorsement and I am looking at getting one next summer.
Very similar bike to this one. I had almost considered selling my Spirit and buying a newer Phantom a while back, but decided just to keep the one I have. I love the mostly blacked out look on them. I say if it fits you, go for it. Congratulations on your endorsement as well!
ive had a 2010 phantom for last 2 years , great bike
@@dazsalomon529 thank you for your input to Andrew. 😊
I started riding at seven years old it was a Honda 50 cc. I think it was in 1966 I am 66 years old now and I am now riding a shadow 1100 and sportster 1200
That is so awesome! Thank you for sharing that! Almost 60 years of riding! Very nice!
I've had 2 Sporty 1200s. A 500 parallel twin and 650 par. twin. Ridden an 883 once. How this the power of this compared to them? ty
@@TWOWHEELD I'm guessing it's slower like the 883 Sporty and the 500 parallel twin. ??????
Yeah, it would have less power than a Sportster. I’m not familiar with the latter.
Did you replace the bags? If so do you still have the old ones? If so please contact me if you can.
I still have the bags on the Shadow. I haven’t found anything else that I really like as of yet.
@@TWOWHEELD I will .. be safe
I wanted a Harley as well but I can’t justify the price for being a new rider so I decided to get 2012 Honda shadow spirit 750
That’s a great alternative! I think a lot of people start out the same way! Plus, Honda makes an extremely reliable motorcycle! So that makes it great to start out with as well! Thanks for watching and commenting!
is that goPro 7 what U use for recording? Do you recommend it?
Yes. It is a GoPRo 7 Black. I have two of them and I would definitely buy another. There are newer models available, but I don’t know much about the technology to them.
@@TWOWHEELD ok. thanks. can you use it as vido registrator? I think the battery life may be an issue.
Ride safe. 👊🏻
Absolutely! The Shadow is a fun bike, but when it's time to get serious, gotta get the King involved... Lol!
What kind of exhaust did you put on this?
Cobra Streetrod Slashdown. If you search around a little in the Shadowday playlist, you should come across some videos that show it a bit more and show some of the other upgrades I did in addition to the exhaust such as the carb and air box.
My first bike is a 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 that I don’t know how to ride. 😏
Molly H 😂 I told ya I will teach you.
Hang in there! You'll learn, just be safe! 😎👍🏍
Same here ! Got it over a month ago I learned on it and im still learning new things ride safe 🙏
Just bought a pristine 2006 Honda Shadow Aero...SO heavy...but I'm learning to conquer it.
Super rad! First REAL bike.
Practice slow and steady 👌slow speed maneuvering is literally what’s given me confidence on my bike... plus videos like this! 😁
I had a 750 and had to sell. It was too heavy for me 🥺 looking for Something lighter.
@@TWOWHEELD thank you for the helpful information!
You’re welcome! Good luck on your search!
Shadows are shaft-drive, right?
That is correct.
I always want a harley but i have a 750 phanthom 2013 is nice 👍
The Phantoms are really nice!
"nobody every needs one" well when gas goes up over 2 dollars a gallon pretty quickly and i see that sporty getting 50+ mpg, she my friend is looking quite sweet
That’s definitely a bonus!
