i hope i can inspire other girls to go into the field of business/ start a business. Nothing is impossible. I want to break the stereotype that girls (especially in their teens) are incapable of big things.

key notes -
1) take good pictures of your products for your listings and for your social media
2) encourage buyers to give a review
3) look into ads - etsy ads, pinterest ads, instagram ads. make sure the ads look nice too. (use the good pics)
5) if you’re small, don’t worry about collabing with influencers. it helps, but don’t stress about it. collab w your friends instead.
4) pay attention to your packaging. this will help people come back.
5) manage your expectations.
6) coupons and sales are a smart way to help customers come back.
7) don’t go to people and beg them to buy. this reads as not confident.
8) pay attention to how much you are
making versus spending. if you are making less than spending, raise prices or spend less.
9) focus on quality versus quantity.

I'm 27 and was underestimated so much as a teenage girl. Always told "you can't do that, you're not smart/old enough, that's not for you" (despite good grades and working my ass of in everything I was "supposed" to). It really stunted my growth and emotional health, and made me extremely insecure in myself. I didn't have many examples of successful young women around me because everyone my age was so beat down. You help prove that teen girls are smart, capable, adaptable, and logical. Tysm for that and the advice! So inspiring :)

hey guys! If you’re reading this i really want to say thank you. A few days ago i wanted to quit youtube because was super down and unmotivated. I know i’m not an expert but i love making videos for the girls my age who want to start a business, i never thought this video would get this much attention. These comment are so beyond kind. I’m so thankful for everyone who watched this video :)
I received a link to this video by UA-cam today to watch. I just sent a link to it by texting my two- 16yr old daughters. One is an inspiring want to be UA-camr, but feel she doesn't have the right equipment. Collectively, they both have filled out applications to try and get hired at their 1st job, but with the pandemic they are not having much luck. I sent them your video in hopes that it will not only inspire them, but give them hope and other legal and legit avenues and resources for making money during this pandemic. I have yet to watch the video- the caption and introduction inspired me to leave this message first after I sent them the link.
Keep up the FANTASTIC work that you're doing. It's so amazing how you're just 14 yrs old.. like WOW lmao I'm like tripple 20x your age lmfaooo definitely didnt have the same mindset as you back thrn that's forsure. "It's kind of like a psychology trick in a way because people see 'aesthetic looking feeds' and they get more interested which eventually leads to buyers. Pay attention because that could play a part of it"
"One thing the textbook said which opened my eyes said 'A business needs to rely on the customers that keep coming back'. So if you can get people to keep coming back for more, that's what you want to aim for"
"What you don't want to do in over invest in packaging. For example spending $100 on packaging when you've had like 20 or so orders"
"You have to be realistic in your expectations"
"Coupons and sales are are a great way to get actual sales because people are like "oh 20% off! i want it cause it's on sale and they'll keep coming back. Loyal customers are the best customers"

When I first started my shop, I literally had zero sales for over a month lol I still had to stock my shop, work on my SEO, drive external traffic, etc. but I almost gave up the first month because I expected it to just take off. Such wisdom and a giant eye-opener with which our day-in-age technology empowers even the youngest and brightest of us to future proof their long term wealth and comfort for them and their future family. If you wouldn't have said any age I would've guessed 24-26 lmao I turn 29 in a few months and have had my own business for a little over a year and just now expanding to Etsy for further product awareness and clientele growth. But just from seeing how smart and ambitious you are at such a young age really reminds me of myself and that if only I had access to these very tools back 15 years ago I could only imagine my status in life being even higher and more comfortable than currently in the worlds current turmoiled state. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you just preach pure knowledge and giving me back more faith and hope that I once lost for the current younger generation in-due to all these corrupt ill-idealistic social platforms that do nothing but spread hatred and unrealistic body images and everything else in-between. I am glad you mentioned costs. I think it cannot be understated that you need to watch your costs. I work in sales in my day job. My company internally lists the costs of products that includes overhead. We can’t go under that cost and absolutely charge less than 22% margin. So if your product costs $2 to make including your time, you cannot charge less than 1.22 times that cost which is $2.44. Now my company sells mass produced products so the 1.22 is what we determine. For small handmade businesses the appropriate amount is probably 3.00 to 5.00 times the cost of production because it takes longer for handmade products to be made vs machines.
Point is, determine cost of raw materials per unit and then calculate how much time you spent on each unit. Then determine how much your labor is worth per hour and divide units per hour by your hourly labor cost. That’s your total cost. You cannot charge this amount you need to charge at LEAST 2 times that amount if not 3-5.
Look at other comparable listings and do the math to see how much they are calculating their labor. Also don’t forget to factor in cost of your equipment you invested in as well as accessories that wear out and need to be replaced very few months AND more importantly the value of your skill and time spent on design. Don’t undersell your products if you spend inordinate amount of time on them and some handmade products simply aren’t profitable if you consider time spent.

There is no way you’re only 14! Wise beyond your years! I’m old enough to be your grandmother, and you totally impress me! When you do your review raffles, rather than soliciting reviews in general for a raffle entry, why don’t you specify that they need to be five-star reviews?
In my opinion, an honest review is better than a 5 star review. If I earn 5 stars, awesome. But if I only earned 3, I would honestly want to know so that I can improve. You can always respond to lower reviews to explain yourself or explain how you learned from the experience.
Those are just my thoughts though. Not necessarily the creator's opinion.
