Wow! The summer of 1975 - what a glorious time! What fabulous music! What awesome memories! One of the greatest songs of all time. Brings me to tears thinking how magical those days were compared to today. Released March 22, 1975. Reached #1 on June 14, 1975. R.I.P., Dan Peek and George Martin. God bless America.
Sim 🙌 eu sou de uma geração que ouviu músicas de verdade estou chegando aos 70 . Hoje acabou só tem lixo , não música mais . América eternamente no meu ❤
My dad took me to see this band live in Denver Colorado in 1986 when they did their concert in Denver Colorado in 86. This band will always remind me of my dad.
I saw them 48 years ago.....wow, and I mean wow!.......I was 16 then, at the Santa Barbara County Bowl...they looked my age........one of them, I don't remember who, broke out a Xylophone and rocked the crowd.....it was the best solo instrumental I have ever heard!
Well, when you record in the studio, there will be takes such as these. They will keep doing it until they get it right. Of course, George Martin picked the best take and, the recorded version is the best on the planet.
The group called America had a wide range of images of the song, which is also good, and I also played this song in an amateur band. It's a nostalgic song.
I had the pleasure to attend this show - it was absolutely electric! This song was preceded by a mind blowing fabulous version of Sandman. WOW was it ever awesome!!!
I learned acoustic guitar listening to their records. I saw them live a couple of times and granted they are not tight like the eagles but they have great, fun songs.
I became aware of "Sister Golden Hair", when the song was released in South Africa, in 1975. It was every young guitar player's goal to be able to play this song, and today I still enjoy this song.
Great video! America is one of the greatest groups in rock history. It blows my mind that they have not been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame yet. If anyone is interested, do what I am in the process of doing by writing to the RRHOF and casting your vote for their induction! Here is the address:
Okay they aren't what they used to be, but how long have they been around 40, 45 years. how many bands are still around for that long? I have seen them live before. and sure there were some clunkers but overall they can still tear the house down.
That´s right, Sir. The bands of that times when decide getting being together for a reminiscence of the past are able to make crowding like half or more century ago. Music, lyrics, voices. I am Cuban from Havana. 61 years. My English is self learned. Excuse my style. Best regards
For those of you who wern't around back in the day, this is Gerry trying to sound like Dan Peek who is no longer with us..... Nothing wrong with his voice, just saw him last week at a jam.
Good song, wonderful composition - this song always strikes a chord with me. One thing I don’t get is why Gerry Beckley forces palate-alveolar sounds such as pronouncing the letter "s" as “sh” and sometimes “zh”? Another artist, Gilbert O'Sullivan (singing 'alone again'), kind of does the same thing.
He probably is having to sing with dentures now......lol....that would make a difference. Still better than some of what's out there today regardless. Luv these guys.
@@americabythereza9105 You're right. The comment section is only for people who have the same flowery opinion of how he sounds as you do. The nerve of the OP. Saying how they feel. Despicable.
I still love Gerry's rendition but his words come out sounding like he's recovering from a stroke. Is there some reason for this, and please don't just say it's because he has full dentures - I find it highly improbable unless he had radiation therapy for oral cancer or whatever.
After 45 years, I give them a little leeway if they sound a little tired. Given how many died since then, I give them a lot of credit for still being able to do this as well as they did.
He still have his voice like before when he was still young

Would have been amazing to grow up in those times! Now we just have stories and memories, and not least, the songs.
Yeah no kidding, because trickle down economics, Reagan, and corporate greed killed the American dream.

This performance is amazing. I couldn't believe it when he started to sing. Sounds almost exactly like he did in the '70s. Breathtaking.
GERRY BECKLEY. GREAT SONGWRITER , MUSICIAN AND SINGER. THE BEST OF THE WORLD EVER. AMERICA I LOVE YOU. 🇧🇷♥️
Me Too!
I love Love America. I love love you!
When your good, your good for life!
I had the pleasure of seeing them about a month ago and they were absolutely fantastic. Not just vocally, but musically and funny.
Lucky for you!!!

My favorite song from them - it's so magical.
Amazing! Sound just as good as in the 70's - singing in the same key even
They still sound great ...hes still so cute x
Always loved this song
Excellent, awesome place for a concert ☮️☮️☮️
Do you know who you're poking fun at?? Yes, they aren't quite the same anymore but they were, once upon a time, the best band in the world.
Get a grip. The Eagles , Creedence, Doobie Brothers smoked this fruity band everytime. and still do!
Ass
These kids have no respect for good clean fun. You're ignorance shows.
They are better than the Beatles and any other band from those days.
Well, when you record in the studio, there will be takes such as these. They will keep doing it until they get it right. Of course, George Martin picked the best take and, the recorded version is the best on the planet.
This song never gets old. Love it ❤️
I love America band especially Gerry Beckley one of the lead vocalist of this band love it!😍
My father loves this band!
I saw these guys at Sloppy Joes in key west and they were spectacular. We followed them all up the east coast and loved every minute of them.
The group called America had a wide range of images of the song, which is also good, and I also played this song in an amateur band. It's a nostalgic song.
Beautifull song!!!!
Superbe!!!!!
God bless this Band!!!!

My favorite band🥰❤️
Still love this song as much as when it came out! ❤
Ticket to see them this November in Arizona!!! So excited!
America the legend. The best Band of the world. 🇧🇷❤
still groovy after all these years.
I learned acoustic guitar listening to their records. I saw them live a couple of times and granted they are not tight like the eagles but they have great, fun songs.
They are just old that's it, but they are still good.
🥺💖
Who doesn't get old here? Even McCartney cannot sing as he used to!
We’re all older
É inacreditável!
Sua voz, sua cancao o deixa eternamente jovem, sem contar o Astral🎉❤

Beckley, Wilson and Lamm would have been a supergroup!
Love this song.
2:35 that drum fill! 👍
Yes awesome. I love when folks don’t follow the standard beat. Just off enough.

Sound Stage was a great show.
Semisonic should do a cover i think they would do i good job.

Muy buena canción
He sounds like Mort Goldman!
"Ohhhh Muriel!!!!" 🤣
For those of you who wern't around back in the day, this is Gerry trying to sound like Dan Peek who is no longer with us..... Nothing wrong with his voice, just saw him last week at a jam.
This was always Gerry’s song. Wrote it and performed it, not Dan.
What? You don’t know what you’re talking about. This has always been Gerry’s song.
Still the damn best, IMO!
volvi a mis 13 años con esta cancion
2021!
Yeah he does sound rough but 40 years will do that to ya. Still good listening.

Sounds like Gerry definitely has some new choppers
you sing that tune as many times as he has had to you would be trying to do it in different ways just to get out of the boredom
A musician would film the slide guitar when it comes in!
この曲大好きだった。でも演奏も歌も50年殆んど進歩がないね。
Great song.
He probably is having to sing with dentures now......lol....that would make a difference. Still better than some of what's out there today regardless. Luv these guys.
Idiot.
sorry it took so long for me to hit the like button, been watching a long time
definitely something going on with his voice...??
lgb nothing wrong with his voice hes got a tune the major problem is that his new damn are getting in the way and causing his tongue to slip
lgb his new damn teeth *
Old age dude takes no prisoners!
ohhh , very good...
RIP DAN
Yes 1975 year I got married.
Still married?
♡
first time Brigner taught me bar chords
actual humans producing music
How sad, what happened to him??
Nothing. Gerry is the best singer of the world. If you don't like him you shouldn't comments.
It’s just his teeth
He got a new set of teeth that’s all you gotta learn how to adapt
Stroke or dental issues? Still love the song!
@@americabythereza9105 You're right. The comment section is only for people who have the same flowery opinion of how he sounds as you do. The nerve of the OP. Saying how they feel. Despicable.
I love this song but couldn't make it through this video. Dude, please don't eat your mic
heyyy lindo
Gerry is mine. I'm jealous.

That's what I thought, as well.
Daniel Fronc yeah , sumthins not right , hope it’s not nothin like that
0:37 Anyone else think he sounds like Eric Cartman?
He sings through his nose...
It's not the same, man. Forget it.
The lead singer sounds like Elmer Fudd.
+td7shelton Hahahaha :D ^_^ xD

Watch this video from 1975 he sounds like Elmer Fudd lol: ua-cam.com/video/1XdnPeyQUMA/v-deo.html !
He must have had a stroke. Not typical vocals for America
Maybe it's just what happens after 45 years.
Yea, he doesn't sound healthy.
ua-cam.com/video/F1kIH0HobDY/v-deo.html
Hung Grapes yeah...pretty much sounds the same. The studio version is just smoother.
@@bernlin2000 Of course, George picked the best take.
No, this is not iTunes is Looney Tunes - Please restore the sound.
Gerry Beckley sounds either drunk or in need of some serious sleep.
I just his teeth
Sounds the same
I've heard Gerry sing in previous engagements prior to this one but there seems to be something wrong with him here.Too much alcohol or what?
a cold perhaps
Incorrect, at this time he got new dentures. He was trying to keep them from slipping.
If you don't like him what you are doing here. Gerry is the best singer of the world. Great Gerry. From Brazil. 🇧🇷
Emmanuel Arrienda stop it already! Gerry Buckley has aged perfect.y! He is perfect! 🎈💙💙
You all are doctors now?
Gerry should just use he adult singing voice instead of straining to sound like his young self. This is hard to watch.
I have to agree
Wwhats wrong with his voice??
He’s just old
Idiot
obv we have found the "bikini" incident, thus more of your disinfo discredited
I hate live music. They always change it. Always.
they wrote the damn song. they can do whatever they want to it
he must had a pre exsisting illness but great lead singer
age
Hhahahha....nothing like doing a nasal California version...could he be more pretentious?
LOL if Donald trump made a song lol 😂
