    I couldn't even imagine about finishing the coat, I did it in a semi-industrial way without so many hand stitches and basting... it was an odyssey. You are amazing! Your skills are incredible, I will continue practicing to be like you!! Omw to become a fashion designer!!

    It’s so true what you were saying about ironing the coat. Pretty much anything worth sewing is worthy of ironing.
    I’ve known people who would make beautiful clothes, especially girls dresses. Unfortunately the dresses didn’t look nice, and no one could appreciate all of the hard work she put into making them.

    I have sewn much of my wardrobe as well as my childrens' wardrobes. But jackets and coats have alluded me, despite having bought two very beautiful coat patterns. I was very overwhelmed looking at the instructions and a bit defeated. But seeing the process you laid out, I have found inspiration and enthusiasm to try my hand at a coat. Thank you!!

      Yes! You can do it!! It's just time consuming and knowing the steps otherwise its not too difficult, wool is one of the most forgiving fabrics!

  • @AlexMaechler

    I want to start this comment by saying that I indeed watched this entire video for entertainment, and part curiosity. I live in Florida. It’s always hot here. There’s not exactly a store anywhere nearby that I can shop for a warm coat. I don’t like ordering jackets online, cause you never know what you’re going to get stuck with.
    ANYWAY, I thought that I should watch a video on how it’s made. I have a sewing machine, and I grew up in a home that sewed garments from time to time. I have a working knowledge on how to read and follow a pattern. Surely, making my own coat wouldn’t be that too difficult for me.
    I went through a lot of emotions while watching this video. At first, I was like, “Ah ha! This looks like something I definitely could buy a pattern for. Cutting stuff out, stitching it together, and following instructions. Easy peasy. That little voice inside me said, “Mwahahahaha! If I can’t buy a coat, I will MAKE one!”
    When you started stitching what I assume is some kind of ancient spell into the collar and lapel, I was like, “Nope! You lost me here.” This would be the appropriate moment to visualize the ain’t nobody got timer that meme. Not only would it take me forever, I have no earthly idea the stitching you used, nor would I know the appropriate tension to use. That alone was just absolutely magic in how it was done though.
    It was when you started doing the lining of the coat and attaching the liner sleeves was when I said, “Yup! She’s a witch. That’s the only way you can explain how perfectly sewn this is.” And I kept watching.
    When you put on the final touches and last of what seemed hundreds of seams, I thought to myself, “HOW IN THE WORLD DO THEY MASS PRODUCE THESE?!”
    I don’t think you told us how long it took to make this coat. You sure as heck were more informative than any other sewing video I’ve ever seen. But what in the what? This jacket would easily take me at least a month, and doing nothing else but this jacket, to complete something like this and it to look this perfect.
    Stunning lady. JUST STUNNING.
    I can’t believe I’m going in this depth for someone that I’ve never seen before. LOL! This is hysterical. I hope you have a good day. I need to get off UA-cam.

    • @LydiaNaomi
      @LydiaNaomi  2 роки тому +1

      What a good read that was haha! Thanks for your comment! I have made a few coats before and I really love detail. The padstitching is not necessary, there is fusible interfacing that can be used instead and I hope to do a coat like that on my channel one day. So glad you enjoyed and again, thanks for your very enjoyable comment!

      Thank you! and welcome! Coat's are certainly daunting, if it hadn't been for my formal training I am not sure I would have attempted it! I hope I make it seem doable because they aren't THAT difficult, they just have a lot of components.
