For those with chronic inflammatory idiopathic polyneuropathy and are still looking for answers, have you considered that there may a be a genetic component affecting how you can process and utilize key B vitamins that are necessary to fuel and heal the nerves? In this video discussion we discuss some of the genetic and epigenetic factors we see with those who are left looking for answers.
Did you know that you have a genetic type just like you have a blood type? Most people who continuously suffer with chronic health issues realize that there are still missing pieces to their recovery puzzle. Over the years working with adults and children with chronic health complaints and reviewing 1000’s of genetic reports, we realized that many with similar symptoms fall into similar specific groupings of genetic issues. From this, the birth of Your Genetic Type came about.
We have learned that there are 7 core genetic types, that once you understand, you will be able to control your biology and get results faster. To find out Your Genetic Type visit us at yourgenetictyp...

It wasn't until I went to the third neurologist who finally checked my b6 level and it was 4 times what I needed. Now I deal with peripheral neuropathy every day.
Any luck with getting better ?
No
I am so glad I came across this information! I was told to take B6 , B2 and a few other things.
From early March until June 30th I was not able to walk and the pain was excruciating! I had seen doctor after after doctor and no one knew what was happening. As a mom of two boys, it killed me to not be able to walk at all! I was TERRIFIED and the pain never went away. I got my blood tested and the B6 was flagged HIGH.
I stopped taking it for over two weeks now and feel less pain and can walk a little more every day. I’m praying I fully heal one day soon! Now I need to look further into this!
Thank you!!
I found to my surprise that a lot of vitamin companies put unsafe amounts of B6 into B group vitamins, while I take decent doses of most B vitamins these days I only get 6mg B6 every day from supplements, this works fine for me. Gradually reducing the B6 dose to 6mg was all I needed to recover myself from toxic levels of B6, I hope that it is the same with you.
Don’t worry you’ll make a full recovery ❤️🩹 to speed up the detox sweat in a sauna or get a recumbent bike where you sit back in the seat and peddle while you watch UA-cam and ride it 30 minutes a day to detox, exercise helps moves stuff out quicker through your lymph’s
Hello! Just wanted to check on your progress, are doing any better?
Happy to see someone putting out content on this. I have struggled fo years with intense hot burning and crippling fatigue, nausea, fog, and more. Once it got completely debilitating, they discovered it was B6 toxicity. NO explanation as to how or why this was happening to me (I don't take it as supplement or drink energy drinks). I was prescribed ALA and it has helped a lot, but I don't understand what is causing it. I requested the MTHFR test, and was told it wouldn't be a factor. 4 Doctors told me they had never seen this before, and to just take the ALA forever to manage.
Thanks Rory, Sorry that you have struggled for years. Make sure you check out our website yourgenetictype.com/ for more support
Rory Bowman, did you know there’s a Facebook group for B6 Toxicity ? Maybe good to know..
@@nelsnels1219 ALA is alpha lipoic acid. It’s a supplement that helps by binding and filtering out excess B6. It’s helped significantly, BUT I still have to watch my consumption of B6 in foods and any other form
Yes yes on alpha lipoic acid!!!
Recommend rechecking any multi vitamins you may be taking for B6 content, sadly some have high doses.
I've been pretty miserable since December of 2021..daily muscle spasms all over my body. I am a patient at Mayo clinic, already doing genetic testing for heart issues. I found this extremely helpful as I have a more than double B6 numbers. In November of 2021 I went through a pacemaker repair surgery and had some complications with broken wires and new leads put in, I wonder if the combination of metal and B6 is causing my neuropathy? I'm reaching out to my geneistis and asking for the MTHFR! Thank you, you might have just saved my life❤
Thank you so much for talking about this. Currently dealing with everything described here. All the doctors I've seen
don't seem to care about genetic factors. It wasn't until recently that my Neuro noted that i had the MTHFR mutation and that maybe my symptoms had to do with excessive B6 accumulation. Test came back with 82 ng B6! Finally, a test came back that pointed towards something more going on. I don't have a lot of places to turn for answers, so this is extremely helpful.
Glad it was helpful
So helpful to me! A victim/survivor of arsenic poisoning, had severe case of Lymes only treated with amoxicillin because I was pregnant at the time, lots of intrusive dental work, longterm B12 deficiency. Now scarred with irreversable neurologic damage 😒 metals started it all.
What intracellular micronutrient test do you recommend?
Thanks John Thomas for the great information!
This is good information and I thank you for sharing. But it's sad to go to the links for YGT and the Facebook page only to find they no longer exist. WHO does one go to for this kind of testing? I just looked up "geneticists" in my area and there are none. :-( If I understood the info correctly, if I have neuropathy symptoms.... and my B6 shows up as high, I may still benefit from taking a medical form of B6 to get the needed vitamin INSIDE the cells?
Hubby knew something was wrong in 2015 and neuro didn’t test. Dropped him and he was lost out of neuro system for 2 1/2 yrs and getting worse. Had silent heart attacks and I insisted neuro testing. Was diagnosed with movement disorder and Parkinson’s and was put on carbo levo and built up to 8 a day with no help. Went to VA and no help until moving to NC and neuro tested b6 and was toxic. He now cannot feel feet on floor because of sensory nephrology
Yep. Poor methylator and detoxer with sensory neuropathy triggered by b6. Deficient and toxic. Histamine triggers flares as well. Lots of heavy metals so epigenetically triggered genes. Finally found someone to help but I’m complicated. This is my full time focus.
What protocol did you follow
I’m seeing a Dr at mark hyman’s clinic. A lot of protocols targeted at my specific issues. For b6, just stopped any supplements and waited it out. Lots of water. at the time, it wasn't a well-known thing. i had a functional practitioner who researched it and joined a facebook help group on the topic. i was already exercising, doing red light therapy and things like that. but basically, it has to work its way out and it gets worse (neuropathy) while that's happening. Took 2 years. Now neuropathy a lot better but turns out i have pernicious anemia (finally b12 levels restored after injecting for 9 months), so that has also played a role in neuropathy. my current dr. says I need a couple of years to see how much nerve function i get back.
Pure gold!! Thank you for this
Treat mold 1st or metals. And how do u safely treat metals
My folic acid was double the range. Can this cause these type of issues?
Everybody needs to look into alpha lipoic acid especially diabetics with peripheral neuropathy. It's fat and water soluble and removes oxidative stress
What should people do if they have b6 toxicity?
Yes, please we need to know. Should we focus on consuming natural activated b6? To counter the synthetic active form?
Do not take additional B6 supplements otherwise you're probably not toxic
Lower your B6 supplements to under 12mg per day at the absolute highest (I take 6mg these days), in most cases your body will just heal over time.
@@UsdSkate123sweat it out I’m saunas and aerobic exercise also detox’s you, stop the damn supplements we get enough from food
Hubby’s neurologist put never take B6 on allergy list for life. Had dropped hubby to 3 from centrum content he took for years and numbers still too high. Now taking desert harvest multi, triquetra bioactive B12 full spectrum and added missing vitamins to add up to multi W/O B6. I order from Amazon. Thankfully he has movement kind rather than pain. Therapy thinks ankles a problem. Will be teaching him to balance with knees and hips but maybe stuck on rolling walker for safety and may not get back to cane. Please consider putting B6 on your do not take list if numbers continue to be on high side or still experiencing symptoms. He had taken a multivitamin for many, many years. I hope many can stop neuropathy in its tracks or improve.
This explains what has been happening to me for the last twenty + years, what type of doctor should I see to help with with this?
In most cases just decrease your B6 intake from supplements to below 12mg per day and the problems will probably resolve, I feel your pain btw, I went from 200mg B6 to 6mg B6 in supplements when I became aware of the danger, never been healthier and happier.
Neurologist
I know 2 people with MTHFR mutation and double dose of B6 in the blood. Does it mean that it can’t be turned into active form and the body is in deficit? Do they have to supplement with the activated form? How to get rid of this blood excess? They don’t supplement.
I am a MTHFR and had too high B6 , I also had depression so question
Is it better to don’t take vitamins at all but base you’re diet more on detox like taking curcumin ?
Alpha lipoic acid check it out it removes oxidative stress it's freaking amazing I used it and I also helped one friend with diabetes because it controls blood sugar and I help another friend with peripheral neuropathy from diabetes because it is known to drop blood sugars also but it's just that water-soluble Universal
Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) is good for mild depression and overall vitality a mild 250mg supplement per day (in early morning) dose appears sustainable long term. But do some reading up or check with your doctor before making any big changes. My experience with B6 was that my life changed for the better after lowering my B6 dose from supplements to 6mg per day.
I could use your help im at the end of my rope.
Please help me
can b12 be toxic?
You will generally feel an impact on your blood pressure / stress / hypertension if you are taking too much B12, iron or folic acid, 500-700mcg B12 (note mcg not mg) is probably a safe dose for an adult from all supplements, some supplements have ridiculously high doses and are best avoided, if you feel too energised to focus clearly on reading or to get to sleep at the right time just find a supplement with a smaller dose or check if any other supplements (Iron / zinc / multi etc) with B12 included can be replaced with equivalents with lower B12. Only take B12 soon after you first get up.
It depends on your genetics. B12 with cyanide is cheap and that's what north American wheat products are "fortified" with. It can be toxic for half of humans. Methylated B12 can help many people resolve a lot of symptoms that big pharma makes it's billions off of.
Which form of b12 are you wondering about?
Yes
I'm just dealing with this now. I was drinking 2-4 monsters a day each %240 dv B6. No water and playing basketball for hours. The past few days I been drinking a gallon of water and playing basketball for hours my nerves seem to be recovering quickly. My sensory nerves seem almost healed but the autonomic nerves still need healing. This is scary stuff
Bro how are u now?
A lot of energy drinks actually contain L-Carnitine. To heal my peripheral neuropathy I took extra L-Carnitine and alpha lipoic acid look into the science behind this it's fascinating but a lot of energy drinks do contain L-Carnitine
@@yasinemir4876 nerves healed up pretty good. I still get tingles but no more pain. Also the autonomic damage healed as well. I can drink water without salt. B4 my blood pressure would get too low. A year later I'd say 85% healed.
@@thebabies3485 I was taking some acetyl l carnitine I think it helped
@@thebabies3485 I was also taking a multivitamin that had 25mg b6 in it as well. It did most of the damage not the energy drinks. 25mg is like 25 times the RDA 😂 what a year that was man.
So ive been dealing with idiopathic neuropathy in both feet for a few years now and my doctor just shrugs his shoulders and im not diabetic and i have finally found out about this and i got to thinking you know ive consumed energy drinks for probably the past 15 years pretty much everyday and probably more than one a day and i see those things are loaded with the synthetic version of B6 and not the active version....i personally feel im very B6 toxic...any advice on how to detox for this....ive stopped drinking the energy drinks and now pay attention to everything i consume.
Did you have your blood tested for b6? I did.....mine was 4 times higher than normal due to supplementation. I stopped the supplements and my level came down but I still have neuropathy. How are you doing?
I have felt benefits of using excessive amounts of B6... I suffer from intense fibromyalgia... Could it be that it was merely supplementing the deficiency and is likely to start becoming toxic after a while. Or is it possible that my body is tolerant of it and it may not suit others.
How long have you taken B6 and how much?
If your body tells you how it's feeling you will know possibly. My neuropathy completely went away and I was only taking B complex and b12
How long after stopping B6 supplements did it take before you felt better? I stopped taking 5 weeks ago,and not any better.
My experience of B6 is that it has a gradual deterioration affect on the body as it accumulates (and gradually negatively affects over time skin / nerves / wound healing), I was taking over 200mg from various supplements before I knew the danger, now I just get 6mg from my multivitamin and that works fine for me. It is a myth that you need high B6 if you get want high amounts of other B vitamins. However, the treatment / right nutrition for fibromyalgia is really something to be worked out with your doctor and not something anyone else can give advice on.
I took 5Hr Energy Extra Strength for years which are very high in B12 & B6 and had no problems. I had H-Pylori(bacterial infection) earlier this year and started adding a multivitamin AND a B complex vitamin. Started experiencing fatigue, dizziness, pain in my palms, pain in the tops of my feet and had several sleepless nights.
Once I figured out I was over doing it I completely stopped everything and my symptoms got worse! It was expected from what I read. On week 6 everything practically went away than God.
I feel you!I had the same thing! I thought I was dying. Visits to the hospital were useless as I was just told I have anxiety and to get therapy. I'm 10 days clean from B50 but I still experience mild neuropathy and intense anxiety on occasion. I can't wait til it's gone!
The thing is the body gets used to the other B group vitamins which are very helpful and you are probably suffering withdrawal from them, B1 in particular has a mild antidepressant affect so I've found a supplement with 250mg B1 per day in the morning to be very helpful, it is probably just the B6 that needs to be avoided (I get 6mg per day B6 and that works fine for me now, my previous dose was much much higher before I realised the danger. In terms of vitamins like B12 and folic acid 500mcg (note mcg not mg) per day is a generally good dose for adults, you will know if it is too much as you will generally experience hypertension / difficulty concentrating on reading / too energised to sleep at the right time. B12 is always a early morning vitamin.
Yeah there is a withdrawal at first with B vitamins I read on pub med
U can’t get toxicity from b 12
