Love this episode. Samantha hated pretentiousness and so did Elizabeth.
Oh yeah she was like her character off screen,very down to earth,accepting and real and that's why so many people love her so much and funny thing she had that way of seeing right through the pretentiousness right away.
@@umarbentley4953 She sure did see right through phoniness. She had no use for the Hollywood scene. That might be because she saw it growing up. Robert Foxworth said once that Elizabeth was happier working in her garden than going to a Hollywood event. We saw that on BEWITCHED when we saw Sam working in her garden. Maybe that was because Liz was a bit shy.
Look for the two-part interview with Elizaheth here on UA-cam. In part one, she said she didn't go to a movie until she was eight. I think she said her parents felt it would be better if she went out and played, instead of sitting in a theater.
You are so right. Elizabeth was so down to earth that people could relate to her like a friend or neighbor.
And people still love her.

@@STho205 Yeah she was, and Endora caught her daughter at it. She was angry that Sam was using witchcraft to bolster Darrin's status in the eyes of Daphne. I love the ending when Sam realized that she didn't need to try and impress someone, when she had what she always wanted in the first place, her family.
It affected Daphne. She sent the coat back with a note from Charlie thanking them for the change in her. Darrin tells Sam it's because of her. ❤
What Daphne doesn't know is that Sam and Darrin could have all they want, but instead choose to live modestly
The love between her and the first Darren was very convincing. The tall bean poll Darren the chemistry was cold.
It's because Dick York was in love with her.
@@richardedmiston3756 He was, but I also think it was because Dick York was a better actor than Dick Sargent, no offense to him. Plenty of gay men could convincingly play straight men in love with their female costars (Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter, Robert Reed, etc.) Dick Sargent was good friends with Montgomery in real life, but the onscreen chemistry just wasn't there- they wouldn't have had the same passion as newlyweds, sure, but SOMETHING would've been there than just friendship, even after a few years.
One of the most memorable episode. The third episode with Sheila and this one are my favorite. Both have girl envy lol.. it's fun😉

Beautiful, charming Joanna Moore was a constant presence in various guest roles on TV shows in the 1950s and 60s. She was the best girlfriend, IMO, for Andy on the Andy Griffith Show. I wish she had gotten a regular series role.
She was supposed to be a regular on Andy Griffith, but the writers changed their minds, because of her character, Peggy's, wealthy background. They decided it would hurt Andy's small town sheriff persona to be connected to money and high society. Opie's teacher, Helen came from a middle class family in a small town, so that was okay.
That wouldn't have been possible. According to her daughter Tatum's (O'Neill) biography, Joanna was a mess, hopelessly addicted to alcohol and amphetamines from the mid-sixties on. It really was quite a shame...... she really could play a classy, sophisticated woman, but her real life was one big disaster.

Darren made a decent living even for the time period the show is set in. He wasn’t wealthy but he had a secure white-collar job that allowed him to own a home and have Samantha stay home to help with the kids and be a good executive wife. He also could afford a golf membership and help out in the community.
That was much more achievable in the 60's than it is today.
Daphne is one of those snooty women who says condescending things in an indirect way to try to insult people.
There are many of her type in life.
I met many, many women like this when I lived in Peachtree City, Georgia for two years. They are a definitely a type.

This was my favourite scene from the entire show growing up. I was obsessed with how she made the jewellery box and mink fur coat. I never understood why Endora was disappointed in Samantha here though! She always wanted Samantha to use her powers, and I understand that she didn’t like that she was using it to make someone else jealous, but Endora always used her powers doing worse things - and I know for a fact in the same/similar situation she’d do exactly what Samantha did 😂

caroline…beauty is in the eye…you know the rest. She was more feminine than Elizabeth, because she had a rounder face while Elizabeth a more square one; in my heritage women are considered beautiful when they have smaller features and face.

The ending, like "A is for Aardvark" always makes me cry -- and I have seen both episodes many, many timed.
Why? It's an upbeat joint, "Bewitched". Fun galore.
It was a fun show but alot of episodes have subtle messages behind it there were some dramatic points of the show as well.
It's much deeper than a run of the mill sitcom

The nasty things aren't raised much now. Nobody wants to wear real fur, thankfully, so mink farms have largely gone out of business. And minks are a nasty breed of critter....not that they should in any way be mistreated, but they're also not cute, cuddly, "Aw, let me take you home and make a domestic pet out of you" beasts, either!
She should have just said her family was rich. 9.9 it's not like you can't inherit from your parents, not just be given things by your husband.
