It's surprising that when growing up we would listen to these songs vicariously through our parents .we would swear as kids that shona songs are boring but now I appreciate these songs and realise that I know them.word for word....
In my humble opinion this song is simply the best well written song by a Zimbabwean. Has the awesome composer of this song been honoured by those of you who put together awards, guys?? This is awesome heritage. The song tells an amazing story in just over 4 minutes! I salute the composer of this song!
🙆🏿♂️ Harare Mambos music played on National Radio throughout my childhood from the early 80s into the 90s, and as a child, we thought that Shona traditional fused music was terrible and boring, but not as an adult I really appreciate it and my culture and every other African culture in Afica & the world.

Remember John Peel playing this probably some time in the late 80s (poss early 90s)...fortunately i was taping that particular show but it took me two decades (and the internet to be invented!) to track it down on cd. Great, joyous sound.
Neil Stapley I got mine from this website about 6 or 7 yrs ago, i'd say (it's done by an enthusiast in England) www.natari.com/zimbabwe.htm Unfortunately, it looks like he no longer has it for sale, but that he may be able to burn a copy or sort a download possibly. [As it happens, i did buy 2 copies at the time, to be ultra safe!, but annoyingly can locate only one cd currently. Post on here if you dont manage to get sorted through the website and i'll reply if i ever find my spare copy]
This is my first time listening to this song and I've put it on repeat. Its probably older than me. Still, l think is amazing and meaningful. I love it
