What’s the point in this segment Dermot has never called out a ref for making a bad decision all he does is defend his PGMOL mates this segment is pointless
Dermot is 100% agreed with every decision referee made . It is waste of time to call him to comment as he will never never never said the referee be wrong.
100% incorrect statement there mate. On Estupinen Yellow Card: DERMOT SAYS: I think it's a red card. He's flying through the air, he's out of control. It catches him high, catches him full force with his studs. I understand the referee's position thinking the player goes across him there but I think it's a red. On Casey Red Card for Motherwell DERMOT SAYS: I don't think it's a red card at all. I think the referee has grabbed him by the throat. The VAR has quite rightly alerted him to go over and check. Turnbull shorts incident DERMOT SAYS: It's a mystery as to why it was allowed to stand. Just give a free kick, everyone would accept that, wouldn't they? These are three examples just from the 24th of December. So your statement is factually incorrect.
Im not a Villa or Newcastle fan, but that wasnt a red card. His left ankle is not stable and he cant get his foot out of the way, he is 6ft 2 as well so its harder to get his leg away from Fabian Schar's backside.
his left ankle isnt stable because he stands on the players leg, that was intentional, rash but he's looking at where his foot goes, there are 2 steps, if he planted his left on the ground it wouldn't have rolled.
I’m 6ft 3…,been in a similar situation. I didn’t stand on the player or further bring my other foot down on the player. He could have easily just tumbled. The thing that should be talked about is what’s not being talked about. The schar kick out on Duran on his way down.
@@Gunjack1440 did he hell, if you watch the whole thing he is tumbling, he doesn't control where his legs are. Seen it several times as well as live, you can tell by the reactions.
@@philscott3759 i did see it, several times actually. he stands on the back of Schars thigh and his foot goes over then because it's not a steady surface, had he put his foot on the ground he wouldn't have gone over in the first place. Now supposing his foot had contact with Schar's head when he dragged it up his back, intent or not that is dangerous play = red
First time Emery has ever questioned referees. He always avoids discussing decisions so you can see he is upset with the pathetic Anthony Taylor. You only have to look on youtube to see what other fans of numerous clubs think of Taylor.
Yes and shouldn't players like Rogers and walker be deducted wages as well for cheating and making fools of themselves do they not realise the is cameras everywhere lol
Duran is off balance, his boot comes down onto Schar's backside and then it looks like he is trying to avoid putting much weight onto that leg so he lifts the foot and falls backwards. One thing that no one else has mentioned is Schar's reaction, after briefly touching where Duran caught him he then grips the inside of his thigh and stays down, Duran was no where near his thigh. The Refs should go to the screen before sending people off, what does taking time achieve if you don't use the tech available ?
so you missed the bit where he stood on the back of his thigh? that is how he rolls his ankle, he stands on Schar, leg is not a flat surface, therefore goes over. Troy Deeny said as someone who used to leave a bit in, it's a red. Since he was a rough player, will take his word. It is intentional made to look like an accident, it's telling that no villa players complain & Emery doesn't look at him as he leaves. Go by the reactions.
@@AllyBeee1 The momentum and follow-through from Schär's sliding tackle propelled Durán to the ground, culminating in an innocuous tangling of legs between the two with Duran's misplaced landing foot saddling into Schär even potentially injuring Durán himself in the process. Absolute clown show of a red card ! Get a grip people. You can tell from his reaction that it’s not a red. If you think that’s a red then we should have 3 or 4 reds every game. Pathetic
That was clearly unintentional though, they both jostling for the ball and Duran was not able to catch himself as they were falling and unfortunately he tramped on his opponents back.
Dermot is 100% agreed with every decision referee made so why bother when they cant be honest about the situation you show the still at the start where Schar foot is in Durrans groin before anything Durran does so who committed the foul first referee can not see that but makes his mind up VAR does not intervene to say clear and obvious ERROR -why ? i don't think either of them meat to do it i think it was a accident
Well, look at that. I disagree. This decision should be opposed. It was not clear at all. He didn't stomp. This made it unintentional. Yessss appeal Unai. Steups.
No point do I see a change in direction apart from after first contact it looks as if he tries to move his foot away from the player to avoid hurting him
Newcastle fan here. I was really surprised when the ref pulled out the Red card. Looking back, it still seems way too harsh. It killed the game. I would've been livid if I were a Villa fan.
I don't know why they even bother getting referees on this, they will always support on field referees/VAR no matter how bad the decision is. For me it's clumsy and a yellow card, never a red.
Duran's left ankle twists as his foot plants on the ground and its only natural that he tries to balance himself with his right leg but he has no real control. Its an unfortunate incident but totally accidental and not violent conduct. Villa need to appeal this decision.
In the slow motion you can see that Schär first hits Duran's left thigh with his right foot as he falls. And? This was an unfortunate situation for both of them and neither wanted to hurt the other. But football is a contact sport. The only one who got hurt is Taylor. He ruined the game and deserved a red card🟥!
How significant is intent? In the case of a red card worthy tackle, the tackle may appear to have no intent but if the end-result is injurious enough, it is still red. If this were a court case there would really be no way to determine the player's intent, so you can only judge by the outcome of his actions. We can't focus on intent here because it is a subjective decision at best. We can see the outcome - then we should decide if the force in the part where he treads on Schar's back is sufficient for a red.
Anthony Taylor loves giving out cards, so with this being the holiday season, hes going to be extra generous. Hopefully Santa puts Anthony Taylor on his naughty list next Christmas for being the worst referee in Premier League history.

Extraordinary ignorance by my most ‘fans’. Look at the laws of the game. On that basis the referee would not be doing his job if he didn’t dismiss Duran. Emery’s argument is a nonsense, ie that the referee should have used VAR. VAR was used! The VAR official looks at footage and reviews it. The decision wasn’t overturned because it wasn’t clearly and obviously wrong.
It’s been appealed & upgraded to a 3 match ban instead of just 1, at least Duran gets rest now so he can kick ass in the final 2 CL games that Sky don’t want Villa to win/qualify from. To simplify it, if Saka or Son were in the same situation as Duran, they wouldn’t of even got a yellow

A Newcastle United fan I'm 50-50 in real time never saw why from my seat in the leazers stand watch it later I'm not sure if it's a red. If it went against us id be upset
So when Jhon gets studs to his nads that's fine? And when he is brought down by the new castle player that is OK? He lost his balance AND was kicked in the nads
He could of just fell onto his left hand side and let his leg hit Schar but he bent his leg so he could stud him in the back. It's dangerous play and a red card
But again this is what's pissing me off like refs and officials get to take as long as they want but u want to penalise the goal keepers by allowing players to over crowd them and recently the new law of only 8 secs we get Dr getting the ball in are hands but the refs allowed to take 30 nah if us players got to be quick and eratical then why can u officials do it
for me he tries to plant his left foot on Schar's leg which is why it rolls, then he steps on his back and his foot drags up his back, i think the intent is there on the left foot then the right but the drag was part of the movement, but there is intent there, he could have landed his left foot on the ground NOT on Schar's leg then he would have been stable, he is watching what he is doing the whole time!
It was a red. He had options even to fall forward on Schar. He thought he would sneakily rack his studs and claim he was off balance. He tried it on and he got caught.
Duran tries to stamp on Schar with his left foot and only makes half contact. As his right foot comes forward it is going to land to the right of Schar's body, but Duran moves his foot to the left, so that it impacts on Schar's hip area. Not content with that, Duran then rakes his right foot down Schar's back and may have even made contact with the head as well. This was not so much a foul, but a full on multiple assault, which means the straight red was well deserved.
