I was there! Flew to NYC (with my Ritchey Outback Breakaway) from PDX. I will definitely be back again - it was a good time! I also visited Two Seas in Brooklyn after your livestream recommendation. Great shop and great crew there!
@@ragg8097 All Ritchey Breakaway bikes come with their own suitcase, so that's what i used. It checks in just like a regular suitcase - $30 each way on Delta.
I saw your video last year riding the 5bbt. I had never heard of this event, granted I just started riding in 2022, but I knew I wanted to ride it this year. I registered on opening day, and made the trek to NYC for the first time in my life. Seeing the city by bike was the best experience ever. Coming from south Texas, I was freezing, but it was worth it! I hope I can go back again next year. I recorded my whole ride, but accidentally in 480p because the camera reset, so it looks like a video from the 1980’s 🤦🏽♂️ lol. Thanks to you, I got to experience an amazing bike ride that I never knew existed! Thank you so much! I was hoping to run into you so I could’ve asked for a pic with you, but I was in wave 3 and figured I never had a chance of catching up to you lol
Damn! Sorry I missed you. It would have been nice to say Hi. I drove down from Nova Scotia to participate. You introduced me to cycling in New York and the five boro tour through your channel / videos. Thanks Terry.
I’ve always wanted to ride this, looks like a blast. Chicago has Bike the Drive that is similar but only 30 miles and just a single highway with some neat downtown/lake side views.
Now I see why this is so popular! I had customers with a tandem who went on the tour this year from Vermont. They asked for me to install fenders when I performed a tuneup, and they were happy to have them.
Ahhh... good memories. I was start wave 2 and it was my first time, it's been on my bucket list since 2018 and i finally flew in for it with a fully custom AC super pro 🎉
Friend, could you please tell me what you use to process your videos? How did you achieve such a cinematic, beautiful image? What tools do you use? I'm grateful in advance for any information."Exactly the color
yes, part of your 'bibs'. In theory they don't allow anyone on the route without them to prevent interlopers. Still saw a lot of people without them though.
Do you think it would be more fun just to do it on your own? I’ve only biked a little in nyc. From upper west side to around lower east side and back at like 2am.
@@ashtestes imo yes. Start going out for longer rides and exploring the city. They block the streets for the 5boro but between having to take a ferry and huge crowds it makes it more annoying imo. If you watch videos from previous years people walk their bikes a bunch during this event

what's best way to fly with bike? I'd assume checking it in, but what did you use to pack it?
So cool! Thanks for stopping by

Thanks for the coverage and insight Terry
Definitely seems fun to experience 😀

I miss your videos leading up to this with Bike Snob NYC. I am planning this for next year for sure.
This look amazing. I really hope I can get the opportunity to ride this one day. Thanks for showing it Terry.
I was there, first time participating. I was in a later wave and endured lots of rain at the end. With that said, I really enjoyed it.
The floor being lava, is literally a game we played in the UK as a kid on our bikes in the street. Like trackstand offs.
Going to try to ride this next year. Cool opportunity to ride carless NYC roads.

is the north part of central park the biggest climb of the entire route?? did you see any unicycles involved??

it was a good one this year
The "hills" didn't look to bad, but like you said if you don't ride on the regular it can be a little much.
Especially when doing 40 miles. That is a big ride for casual cyclists.

What’s with the helmet covers? Are those mandatory for doing the ride?
yes, part of your 'bibs'. In theory they don't allow anyone on the route without them to prevent interlopers. Still saw a lot of people without them though.
@@b.griffin317as Terry says in the video, my helmet is far too fresh to rock one of those helmet prophylactics.
Awesome. Kind of surreal hearing comments on the livestream here on the video. Your commentary is quite ZEN.
This is actually cool, i wish that they did this in other cities too.
The tandem bike was awesome
Wow wonderful. This reminds me at the Sternfahrt in Berlin. Its very similar but for free.
Nice video, Terry
great content,thanks
I watched this in my apple vision pros. so awesome!!
I'm in the UK and this would be amazing to do!
come on out
this video is sick !
I've wanted to do this ride for many years . Like your channel. Any cool t-shirt? Swag?
Great commentary!
Anyone know if they allow any cameras, like a DSLR rig, on this ride?
I saw a bunch of camera rigs on the ride. I think they’re only really concerned about is bags
@@BUCKSHOTSTV Thanks!
I like this voice over style terry! Calms me down
The bike with the skeleton in the third seat was at Ragbrai last year.
5 Boro babyyy!
No no Terry, that was a cool relaxing video.
what wave were you in?
He said 7am wave, talks about it around 6:00
I was there and have a complete video series on the Five Boro Tour premiering on my channel right now.
Not a "Tricycle"?
My bikes broken both of them ❤😮😊
Ban cars from the city!
I did it in 2022 2023 2024. And every year I say this is my last one. And I registered again last week for the 2025 😂. This will be last one. Maybe 😊
Welcome back
Ngl that doesnt look fun for someone who rides around nyc a lot. Cool video though
Why doesn’t it look fun?
@ depends what kind of cycling you’re into but its really crowded and slow. The weather was horrible last year too

Are the closed streets worth the crowds though? Also what do you think about doing it in on a single speed?
