    I have mine inside my 10x20 workshop in New England, no diesel smell issues. I got a 12v inverter for like $20 on Amazon and plug it in so I don't need a battery. When it's cold I run it 24/7 on low and keep the place at 40ish, when I'm working out there I can get it up into the 60's even at 0 temps. Shop is minimally insulated post and beam with 13' roof peak. Love mine.

It's always good to have a back up that's reasonable priced... Looking forward to the Hunt, good luck.. Stay safe and have a great day.👍🤓👍🤓.Randy.

    Most of the solar generators/power bank the 12v cig ports are 10amp regulated power. That is why it wouldn't work Joe. I have a couple of EcoFlow units and the round barrel 12v ports a rated higher amps depending on which unit, I think there 8 & 5mm. I like my River Pro & Delta 2 a lot. Hope this might help you out for power?

    Im putting one of those in my sheephearder wagon to use at night when my woodstove goes out in the winter. My semi truck had one with a thermostat, the diesel fuel came from the semi fuel tank ,nice and toasty all night in the winters without running the truck all night. Lots of people put them in their cabin cruiser boats also.

    Would like to see the battery draw, I would think running for a few hours would drain that battery. Like you mentioned a 12v dc converter might be better. Also cutting holes in the walls is always scary. Too bad there is no close window to mount outside of like an AC unit. Thanks for sharing Joe

    • @NorthernSeclusion

    Joe, the only issue I’d have with the unit being outside is the fuel gelling up in those frigid Minnesota winters. You’ll have to treat the fuel probably.

    • @NorthernSeclusion
      @NorthernSeclusion  9 місяців тому +1

      The fuel here is treated at the pump. As winter gets colder, they put more treatment in it. The nice thing is that you can use off road diesel (the colored stuff) and pay very little for the fuel.

  • @TonyGeneseo
    @TonyGeneseo 9 місяців тому +2

    Nice little unit and cheap enough too ! Curious as to why you really want the air intake from inside ? Colder cleaner air is always better for combustion. Guessing your concern is if it’s snowing and windy ? Take care Joe

    • @davewood406
      @davewood406 9 місяців тому +2

      Pretty sure he means the heated air not the combustion air. You burn less fuel if you're heating the air from inside the tent or whatever. Especially once it's hovering around the desired temp.

    • @NorthernSeclusion
      @NorthernSeclusion  9 місяців тому +2

      Not the combustion air, that is pulled from outside. It is the heated air. It is more efficient to heat the air from inside because as it gets warmer the heater has less to heat. If that makes sense. The combustion part of the heater is totally separate from the heated air.

    From my experience, if you have more than 10' of cord, you need a 30 or 40A fuse - I blew 2 - 20A in the glow plug cycle and did not have 30A fuses and poped in a 40 - THe 40 made it work flawlessly - Mine is not the same make - But they are _all_ the same
    One tip - Buy one of the cheap dial controllers as back up - The biggest failures are the fancy screen failing - In a pinch the simple dial will work as a back up.

  • @margaretkaraba8161
    @margaretkaraba8161 9 місяців тому +1

    Just to be nosy - Are you going to make an elevated insulated box for the heater and tube so theres less of a chance the diesel "freezes" during winter? and so the animals don't mess with the wires from the battery (I honestly don't know if 1) the heating element/engine would conduct heat to the case of the unit enough or 2) if you have a problem with animals chewing/exploring things on the tent.)

    As far as I’m aware the signal icon on the control panel is for the remote not internet and it won’t regulate the heat to a temperature you just set the heating level it kicks out, cheaper heaters tend to develop running issues sooner then others, my suggestion would be a LPG heater that blows hot air in the same way, “PROPEX Heatsource” Brand in the U.K. are very reliable
