5 mins in… love this guest. Great stuff guys!
Starters who can become nastier out of the bullpen once the Postseason starts are about to be a bigger thing - especially at the deadline. We saw our guys like Phil Maton and Butto (and the Phillies bullpen) who were great for the regular season get exposed during a long series. The Dodgers played around that. I can tell you that it's something Stearns and other execs were paying attention to. It was on his mind when signing Holmes
We lost to the Dodgers because we walked 46 batters in the series. If that number were reduced by half, we are at least playing a game 7. Gotta have pitchers that dont give up walks
@TheFruitney Exactly, which is easier to do with arms that have starter-type pitch mixes that the opponent isn't as comfortable sitting on.
Lance is the best
The actual Goat
The player I’m most intrigued by is Clay Holmes. He’s the biggest wild card on the roster and has a ton of potential. I’m excited about the prospect of him as a starter. He’s got a plus fastball and an awesome sinker. Hit 102 mph . This is an awesome prospect.
He's certainly a wild card. And he certainly is "big." He's 6'5. So I'm with you.
@ yea I believe this is a quality signing but I’ll be excited to watch what he can be.
1000% Agree...Holmes will emerge as a star...even has Cy Young potential...like Chris Sale's up & down history in BOS and now a Cy Young winner in ATL
@ Yes agreed. I really do think this move is where David Stearns makes his money. Discovering gold and for the value even better.
How about Tylor Megil? He really seemed to turn a corner in August. He added a forkball that hitters struggled to hit.
He's interesting. I haven't given up on Tylor. I would note, though, that in limited starts through May, he pitched pretty well. Then he got blown up in June -- 7.43 ERA. July, also not great -- 5.83 (but only in two starts). Then, as you pointed out ... August (only one start in August) and September were really strong. But he got blown up in the postseason. An ERA over 10. So, who is Megill? What might he do? I don't really know. I think there is a really good pitcher in there if he can put it together. It won't shock me if Megill has a season like Peterson's '24 season. But it also won't surprise me if he pitches like he did in June last year. He's a wild card. I think there is real ability, but sometimes guys just can't get to where their ability should take them.
I have to wonder if Tylor might be suited to a reliever role like his brother. Limit the pitch selection mostly to the fastball and the American Spork. It is a possibility.
Canning dominated the AL in terms of most runs given up. He totally could follow that up with surrendering the most runs in the NL. I'm sure no pitcher has ever done that before. I think Canning can do it. I believe in him!
I respect that guy for givinghis honest opinion, but how often has this guy been right, and how often has he been wrong?
Great episode. Though, description mentions Frankie Montas while there isn't mention of him across the episode.
Audio went out around the 39:00 for Marc
What pod is the Ryan lambert interview?

timestamps guys!
After getting Pete back. They have a powerful lineup. Starting pitchingm is the problemm Cant see Clay Holmes as a starter. Senga is a question mark
Also. They have some pitchers in the minor leagues. Have they have a good spring. Bring them up in the starting pitchers. Bullpen looks good
Oi oi oil! Lgm!
Is it just me or is Marc muted for most of the last 10 minutes
Genuine question: Why wouldn’t Holmes start in the playoffs?
Innings. Need to build the arm up. He's never thrown over 70 innings in his career. If he throws 22-25 starts that's 110-125 innings, and assuming no IL visits, he hits that at early to mid August.
So just a very good chance that he'll be tired and therefore ineffective as a starter come October
@@BKDBut I think that is an accurate take. The idea of a 6-man rotation helps some. But I question how many innings Holmes has in that arm for '25.
My take from this video lol. Is the Mets need to trade for Dylan cease even more, I dont think this guys take on sproat is accurate.
Bro is rambling...this is boring me....plus he raved over Griffin Canning( the worst SP) And DOG SH!T🐕 💩 over the Mets best pitching prospects whom everyone outside the organization raves about. 😂😂
1 min no views man they fell off
I don’t know who this guy roots for but he’s definitely a Mets hater.
Soto cost a tun of money.. now it will be bargain basement and young players and prospects unless a good deal comes up..that's the way sternes works
