This idea is done in the Netherlands for a very long time. Mostly for the kitchen where you use it under the sink. Then place things in that would clean your plates, kitchen or such. But can also have some space for a trash bag. It's super handy to have! Another option will be a tall version that would be having several baskets or planks to serve as pantry. Can make it about half size in with of what you made here, but it will hold quite a lot of grocies, pots, snacks or whatever you wish to have in there. Often they are about 30-40 cm wide though. Up to 2 meter tall.
That hideaway laundry compartment is very cool and super functional, well done👍🏾. Ariat's clothing / apparel looks great on you❤ Thanks for sharing....
Exactly what I had in mind when I did my laundry room. Designed in sketchup, but we sold the house before it was done so it's a big open space. I wanted 4 hampers though, towels, whites, colors, delicates/hand wash. I also added huge shelves that held a basket for each family member for clean clothes, and a long bar to hang clothes that needed hanging. The counterspace was bigger than most kitchens. Including a custom counter over the machines that held laundry supplies custom built to lift right off while hiding the water lines. Some of my best, most memorable, and most usefull work besides the liquor/TV cabinet.
Glad the project went smoothly, and nothing really seemed to hamper your progress... 😉 .... I love how it blends in with the other cabinets, and it's soft close too! 🥰 ... great job April! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Thank you for the refreshing take on woodworking! I love your videos and the excitement you bring to this work! Love this project and already trying to configure it to my laundry room!
This is exactly what i've been looking for. I've been wondering how i should make a similar laundry hamper in my closet. Thank you April for teh idea and tutorial.
From having a hose split and a washer pump failure which soaked the entire basement ruining several things I always keep a pan under the washer and have a vent to dump water outside in case another future failure. I used a 6 foot section of hose on the exterior with several layers of screen hose clamped on to keep critters and crawlies out.
Love this! I came up with a similar design for trash and recyclables for our new kitchen. Main difference is mine has a spring loaded mechanism with foot release. Caught with my hands full too many times to think that wasn't a necessity.
I know that this is the dumbest thing, but I love that we can see your Mama in the reflection of the door behind you! It's good to see the relationship you have with her.
Not to steal your thunder, April, but for those of us less woodworker savvy (remember, I'm a plumber) you can do this with finished stock cabinets- you need to be willing to drive the loss prevention people mad as you go back and forth between their cabinet areas and the row where all the plastic buckets and waste baskets are. Another great project- and like some many really good things , fairly simple if a few details are paid attention to! FR
Great job April, haven't had much luck with those building programs but I do manage to build without the computer. It's an age thing and attitude hinders the learning process. I do like your videos and the work you complete. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
Good morning, April! HAPPY HALLOWE'EN!! Thanks for sharing another great idea and a job well done. In the process of designing a laundry chute. Hopefully it all comes to fruition. Have a wonderful day!
Nicely done! It's always great to see a project come together, especially when it's like you planned 🤣! I always look forward to your next video...keep up the good work!
That came out nice. The whole laundry room remodel came out nice as a matter of fact, but I don't recall seeing what you did with the dryer vent after you moved the dryer. Did you go straight through the wall with it?
@@AprilWilkerson Did I mention I like the 'hidden drawer' ? Made something similar a few years back, and I'm thinking of trying it again with a project that's still in the planning stages.
this was a GREAT video. Just thought I would share with you that the target link for the actual hampers does not link to a product. It says page not available. It would be handy to have the product name for events like this.
Add a treat dispenser. One treat if your roommate, significant other or kids find the laundry room. Extra treats if they pick their stuff up and put in a bin.
@@xephael3485usually its my 11 and 14 yearold daughters. They watch this channel and othes. They can weld, do some wood work, fix trucks etc. I'll have them do it.
Mechanical drawer slide alignment is what I always seem to screw up. Too much/little clearance between drawer and carcass. Slight Level/angle/skew error causing binding. Recognizing which part of the slide goes on the drawer. I've resigned myself to only "drawer in box" construction where the drawer rests on a full shelf. A medium review of proper drawer slide considerations, measurements, and techniques would be appreciated. Especially referencing specific models of hardware.
7:00 you have a standard MDF cabinet. 20 seconds later (7:20) all of the sudden you have laminate! Have you gone over putting laminate in before? I'd love a video on how to do that.
I built a bathroom double sink vanity for my folks years ago and my Mom wanted laminate. You can go to UA-cam and type in April Wilkerson double sink vanity and it should pop up. I did a 3 video series on it as it was a large build. Thanks for watching.

There are some cool valves now that are network linked to remote water alarms that will automatically shut the water off if there's a leak.

instead of using a cabinet to throw your dirty laundry you could just toss it straight into the washing machine next to the cabinet.
True, but this way you can sort it by lights or darks. Then when you have enough for a load, run the washer. Thanks for watching.
