I'll feel very insulted if they asked me to go to an audition just for fun. Time is gold, I don't think anyone wanted to be called for nothing, just for a "make it sound like Gin, you're funny :D" even Sugita must felt like they treated him like a buffoon :( By the other hand, thanks for this double upload! You made my day!! x3
He actually does! He voices Ruka from Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 3 and I swear to you his voice there is so refreshing and different from what he usually does lolol
After this convo, Sugibro continued to say the ways the industry treats seiyuus badly/disrespectfully *"will never change. It's impossible. There'll be no bright future."* But he also said, *"This is not fun to talk. Let's talk about nipples or something!!"* Anime and Manga industry need to change. Seriously.
Eh, whenever we westerners change our entertainment industries, it's never for the better of an actual entertainment product. So maybe they just should do their thing.
They're making money off of them, so it's just like this with anything. As long as you're useful to someone, the other person will just try to fuck you over for the benefit. There's a reason why there's a gap between people, and it's the fault of the dear World that decided to concieve trash people that somehow got lucky & can control a chunk of the economy. Anime & Manga is also the same. Animators underpayed & overworked. They pump out thousand of anime without relying on quality, just want to grab the attention of as many people as possible. Having requirements to cram in as much fanservice & information as possible, even to the point of rushing the author. Reason why manga like Shokugeki got axed, and why Tokyo Ghoul :Re got the absolutely weird treatment that completely destroyed the story structure, even though Ishida made it almost unrecognizable.
Anime and manga industry isn't what needs to be changed. It's the entertainment industry in Japan. Once you go to the top of the pyramid, everything goes back to the same place.
Poor Sugita, even though his crossdressing pretty good xD I'd love to watch him play a bishounen (pretty boy) character -Why aren't we funding this? xD-
ikr. i mean yeah gin san is definitely not meant to be pretty like sougo, toshi or shinsuke but c'mon, he can look REAL good when needed. hell, when he fight he just look exceptionally good.
I hope sugita san doesn't hate gintoki 's character with people doing that. It was such an amazing and iconic character and this guy.....man, he did an amazing job in presenting him! I'm sure that gintoki wouldn't have the same place in my heart as he does now if it wasn't voiced by sugita
Many ppl use the Kansai accents when they wanna do "Tsukkomi." That's coz we're so used to see Kansai comedians do that on TV and it kinda gives funny tone/vibes to the conversation. Kajita and Sugibro often do that but they almost never get the accent right. No offence but it sounds cringy, lol (Somehow pulling the accents is really difficult for non-kansai ppl)
Yuu Asakawa, (rider from Fate/Stay night, Ana and Gorgon from fgo babylonia) said on twitter she got an audition and got rejected by email, and they didn't tell her why, it kinda irked her.
I think a lot of people think it's like American movies and TV shows where famous actors are often cast in roles without auditions or roles are written for them. Although I think that Nakamura Yuichi may have implied that seiyuu sometimes get roles without auditions. I don't think that the role that he was referencing was his greatest fit though, so there's that. It's awfully unprofessional of the production company to ask you to audition with no intention of casting you though, which is what he's describing here.
A little fun fact, Sugita actually got a role of bishounen. The one I know is in a mobile game called Yume100 and he play a guy named Banri and I have him in my main team XD
I am surprise and yet not surprised about this. I am surprise because Seiyuu industry let it happen and not surprised because I have heard about it before (forget from where). Anyway, I can feel his pain. I hope more and more seiyu share about seiyu industry (including its dark secret). Hopefully in the future it will become much better but knowing Japan it will be a long long fight.

"make it sound like gin-san" i think that is very insulting to a voice actor
Hahaha Sugita is defined by Gin-chan
exactly

which episode is this specifically?

Subaru in X/1999. Also, doesn't he voice a bishounen in K? Pretty sure he has a couple more.
He played Sirius de Alisia in Aquarion, but Sirius was more of a douche
I believe his manly man's voice doesn't quite converge with the idea of male attractiveness in Japan or something like that x)
Yusuke from persona5 is also considered bishounen btw
Sugita-san voices quite a few bishis and ikemens. It depends on how bishi you want your bishies to be. his role in inuxboku is quite a bishi imo.
so i guess gin-san isn't considered a bishounen character
ok *cough so its just me cough*

Gin san is Daddy material...
not gonna lie, Gintoki sometimes can look hella attractive
Tbh I always think that Gin-san is handsome. He's my fav boy chara as well. Am I wrong?
@@tashajournal Not at all, I am with you
i want every character of every anime I watch to sound like Gin-san. Including babies and dogs.
Don't you mean especially babies and dogs?
sounds like a pop team epic episode
That really is outrageously rude and inconsiderate...
So you're saying we're this close to have a beautiful boy chara from sugita?
It's rudeus
I'm worried Sugibro has a mild hatred for voicing Gintoki if everyone only expects Gintoki from Sugita san

The joke is that he already voiced tons of bishonen. I prefer him as a badass like Ragna the Bloodedge or Romeo in GnC.

Not letting him play Bishounen? Well, there was Kitagawa Yusuke from P5.
So using his voice profile as Gintoki to try and sub a bishounen... Poor Sugibro :(, that must have been insulting as a voice actor.
1 year later, I'm still mad at how they treated our boy Sugibro
at least he voiced a cute boy in back arrow
Kaiki-san you're on a roll! Thank you for the great stills of Sugita-san, thank you for the content and thank you for your hard work.

Just because he’s a bit older in the Industry doesn’t mean he can’t play a bishounen boy!

That one chara i could think of that Sugita-san have play was Victor on Mr Love: Queen's Choice. But this chara is more to ikemen not bishonen.
This is more.like gin san complaining in real life

he can't play bishounen charas because he's only made for the badass ones and the ikemen hmp
Didn't he already voice a bishounen. XD to those who don't know its in Hatsukoi Monster.
