One more thing we forgot to mention - Aqara have announced they will be supporting Matter in the future! Yet another good reason to consider getting the M2 hub!

"Matter / Thread coming soon in the future and will be a free OTA update" - has been a marketing statement for a while. Can someone mention one devices that has actually done this. When Matter is enabled- there will have to be another device you'd need to buy (think M3 Hub). So this is enough of a marketing B**S** you can have. Releasing a device in 2022-2023 and still relying on ZigBee - is like buying a dead cat.

And, it has an ethernet port built in so it can connect directly to your LAN using an ethernet connection instead of WiFi. This can be especially useful if you have spotty WiFi in an area and still want to use Aqara child devices in that area.

Nice Video Steven! I’ve been using this for the past several months and it works really well!

I’ve got the Aqara G3 hub with a HKSV camera on it. I bought it more for the camera with good features and the hub was a bonus. The price was just fantastic. It has worked flawlessly over the past 3 months and the Aqara sensors are well made and superbly priced. If there’s a thread sensor from another magnify, I will go that way. Thankfully, Aqara has recently announced that some of their devices will be going thread.

I use the IR blaster to control my old IR home theater components. Since It works with Siri shortcuts, I find it to be incredibly useful.

Would like to see more Aqara content from you. What is the water leak sensor like? Is it reusable?

Hope you've checked out our Water Leak sensor video by now!
But to answer your question, yes, the water leak sensor is reusable - you'll just need to dry it well after it detects water!
Thanks so much for watching! (and sorry for the delay in replying!)

I have my M2 hub connected to a UPS so it doesn't loose power during a short blackout. Of course if the power I off for several days, then all of my UPS batteries will have died long before that.

I would have liked to have seen a wall mount for this thing!!! It would have been simple enough to do.

Great video. I'm about to purchase but wanted to know if the hub has good coverage/range. We have an old house with thick walls. I assumed as it is zigbee that it would need the hub to reach all of the devices/sensors I add to my set up? Or does it work on my wifi network?
I currently have good wifi in all rooms as I have Sky Q mesh extender throughout.

      Hi Ryan,
Sorry for the delay in our reply - we've been on a break here whilst I finished my degree.
The Zigbee range to the M2 is decent, though you can get some extenders from Aqara if you should need them. I've got a pretty small house so can't comment on the maximum range, but it comfortably covers the entire two-bed property. The thick walls will be your biggest challenge but you should be fine!

Can I use Aqara products with another Zigbee brand hub?

Excellent question - No, Aqara operate a closed system, even though other devices have Zigbee certification.
