I recruited my Mom to show you how to open a Jackfruit. I recommend wearing gloves when handling Jackfruit because the sap is extremely sticky and hard to wash off. Jackfruit is a tropical fruit that you can find in most of your Asian markets. The texture is slightly firm and fibrous and it taste really sweet if you have a ripe one. Here my mom demonstrates how we cut open Jackfruit and remove the fruit inside. - Навчання та стиль

Boy, that is not the way it should be cut if you wanna avoid the sticky sap.
Cut it down lengthwise and pry it open, your hands don’t get much of that sap if you DON’T cut the core.
Don’t use spray oil, just coat your knife generously with vegetable oil. Do the same with your hands
The only time you cut it like a watermelon is when it’s young and you wanna use it as a vegetable. Except for the skin, every part of the fruit is edible.
Also, you really haven’t felt spiky until you had a durian pierce your thumbs and fingers. This, it’s like the sanded down version of a durian.
Not sure if you’ll ever get the chance to try it, but try the other jackfruit, it’s name is Chempedak. Much sweeter, much more fragrant and a lot softer in texture.
