Cuteness overload!!!! I love when my hens hatch chicks. They show them how to do everything from what to eat and not eat. I especially love to watch when they make that special clucking noise to call them and then drop the food they found for the babies to eat. They are so fascinating to watch. And I love how you show that they each have their own unique personalities. Some people think a chicken is just a dumb (intelligence wise) but they are very smart and instinctual. I think you really love these chickens, but if she doesn't want all this contact and petting because her baby is under her, maybe just do what makes her comfortable. "Working on love" works best sometimes with patients. Just an observation and said with love. They get freaked out so easy, just another perspective: when you saw the baby you started yelling and I saw her just shiver! She's just going through instinct and protecting the baby, she definitely loves you!😊 I'm glad they have you.

Peeps live off they yolk for up to 48 hours after being hatched. They don't need water right away. Kate is a beautiful hen.
