Sweet, precious, loving and precocious Okie Dokie was a true gift. Until he was hospitalized I had never heard of a Barber Pole worm. I have already advised friends that have various 'farm' animals in the SE USA about that type parasite. None of the 3 small rescues had ever heard of it. It's impossible to be pro-active when unaware that a specific problem exists. The lesson Jami learned the hard way will be the catalyst for helping others. As a result Jami is rescuing babies she has never met. Just another of Jami's Super Powers!
I'm so sorry Jamie, I know how bad your heart is hurting over the passing of Okie and Ernie being so sick. I seen how much you cared for the alpaca's when you were living at the sanctuary, all the love that you gave them. Oakie didn't die in vain he is helping other alpaca's live. You are a wonderful person with a big heart ❤Praying for Ernie's full recovery🙏
So relieved about Annie, Indie, and all the goats. Continued 🙏 for Ernie's full recovery. Jami, it sounds like you have a plan and we know you will do whatever to care for all the babies. Okie will be loved and missed Always❤

I can't help but think those new pigs may have brought it with them ..iss doesn't quarantine new animals these days .hopefully ernie won't have to go back there if he survives...
I feel it's from the flood that carried over so many germs , because there are so many alpacas dying from that parasite 🪱 not just Lester and Jami fur babies last month
@julindahiggins1582 Quarantine wouldn't necessarily mean they couldn't spread parasites if the pigs had no symptoms. Most places that quarantine new animals just observe them for a couple of weeks. They don't do lab work on them.
@@julindahiggins1582I literally just replied the same exact thing!! I think the pigs caused it!! I have a lot of thoughts that I would love to vent, but I'm not going to do it. IYKYK!!! 😞

Hugs & love to y'all! I just watched LE & Megan heading to A&M to see sweet Ernie! Y'all take wonderful care of all your babies. Regular treatments, deworm, mucking the pastures, cleaning containers & water sources routinely, etc. I had no idea this was becoming an epidemic among Alpaca, so grateful to your contacts & Texas A&M for their gyuidance! I will be sad about Okie, knowing he had a very full, short life & now he is playing over the Rainbow Bridge with Huck,Journey et al.😢❤
I remember seeing Okie when he was at LHL during the floods and he wasn't feeling the best. Didn't want to get up and play. I reckon it might have started around that time. Poor little man, We will miss him immensely.
Saddened beyond words at the loss of Okie dokie💔 Actually, a little angry as well. I can’t help it. Just the way I feel right now. I gave up following LE & Megan a long time ago due to time constraints. I was always disappointed that Ernie & Okie didn’t get to come to Longhorn Lester’s with the rest of the crew. Since Annie & Indie show no signs of this particular parasite, it may’ve made a difference in this tragic outcome. I know hindsight is 20/20…but I have a lot of mixed emotions right now😔😢 It sounds as if Ernie is rallying & for that I am so grateful.🙏🏻
Jami, you're a great explainer. I have ideas- first- buy duplicate feed bowls, so that you have 2 feedings worth, in case you have to be gone. Second- put a Bosch sanitizing dishwasher in the shop, so it can run between your lunch and feedtime. I use one, because I'm immunosuppresed. It's amazing- and not horrifically expensive- though plumbing it in may be a pain, I don't know how that works. I hope there's better news about Ernie today, and am sending big hugs.
Jami, how about getting one of those deep outdoor sinks? You could have one installed right outside the shop, on a cement slab to keep from making a mud pit. They're big, deep and stand alone on it's four legs. They're not expensive, less than $100 I believe, plus the faucet and Lester can install it. Get one of those stainless steel shelving units like used in restaurants to dry the dishes on. Any restaurant supply house would have everything you need. Just a suggestion thinking about your and Lester's back and knees. Bending over and scrubbing/washing in the grass every day will take it's toll. Ask me how I know!
❤awe that is awesome.I pray Ernie starts improving soon. So sorry for the loss of Okie he will be missed so much. The spunkiness he had was the greatest. I know LE and Meghan loved the little guy so I hope they will be ok. They sure love hard all those babies in their care and each loss is so hard on this young two kids of yours n Lesters. I know you all turn to each other for comfort.

This is good news for the girls! Praying for Ernie. So sad about Okie! Glad you are taking a pro step and making things better. The good thing, you know more. Blessings.
I love your explanation and how very through your are. Your understanding will greatly help over at ISS as well. I have two parrots and had a new puppy get very sick due to droppings. Our puppy thought it was the best game ever to try and get under the parrot cages to try and eat up any food they dropped, which exposed the puppy to fungal infections from their droppings. I’ve worried about the new puppy/dog at ISS for this reason, with the chickens/birds and the dogs being in that area. These things are so much more complex than most people really give any thought to (until an animal becomes ill). It’s a learning experience for sure, one I hope you are able to help Megan and LE to understand. They “don’t know” what they “don’t know”. Praying for all the babies.
Interesting video of the research you shared with us. Continued prayers for Ernie, he’s always been my favorite. I remember when he arrived at the sanctuary. Hugs to you & Lester as you walked through this issue. ❤
I'm so glad the other babies are ok. This is not anyone's fault...with animals of any kind, whether a dog or a cat and/or farm animals, this stuff happens. It's the nature of the beast. You do the beat you can to care for them but this stuff just happens. I'm so sorry for your loss and pray that Ernie heals!
Jamie, I thank you so much for this video. Let’s just pray.
Thanks Ms. Jami Lynn for the female Alpaca (and all goats) results. What a relief. And now we know that clean feed bowls are key. Sheesh. Whatever it takes. I am unable to even look at other farm animal and farm rescue channels because I am so used to the methods and respects that you and Lester use, that I cannot even look at any others except for one permaculture homesteader who is as clean and organized as yall.
Praying for Ernie. I’m so glad you all are taking steps to try to stop these nasty parasites. I will miss seeing Okie and his beautiful little face around. This one was a hard blow. I pray your decision to also take Ernie has saved his life. Sending lots of hugs your way! ❤

Good morning Jami. Exciting news update on Annie and Indie and the goats that they have some normal worms but the real dangerous worms. What you have learned from A&M this time with Ernie and Okie can be shared to other members of Morrow Hill family and make them aware of the problems. Nobody is to blame and we all will miss Okie but he is running free with other fur babies that left before him. Prayers and healing vibes being sent to/for Ernie to get better and come home. So glad Ernie is coming home. I wish I could buy you coffee before you pick up Ernie because I live in Round Rock 😊
Great news for Annie and Indie! Praying still for Ernie….still sad over the loss of Okie. Praying for Ernie and Drs involved in his healing. Praying for y’all too…❤
Happy Dance for Annie and Indie and our Ringo. Prayers for Ernie ❤🙏. It would be nice if Ernie could live at LHL with his loved ones since the tragic passing of Okie ❤️🩹
Thanks Jami for explaining everything. Continued prayers for Ernie. I'm imagining Okie and Journey running races with each other and having the best of times. Two souls that will be missed dearly, but who brought so much joy to us, even though their time here was short. You both were so special❤
I am glad the tests came back positive news. I still am praying for Ernie, and the rest of the babies and family
Could it be just at Plum Grove..I'm happy that Annie and Indie are clear..still praying for Ernie ❤
There are other alpaca farms who have lost baby alpacas in texas
@@julindahiggins1582I literally just replied the same exact thing!! I think the pigs caused it!! I have a lot of thoughts that I would love to vent, but I'm not going to do it. IYKYK!!! 😞
I hope Ernie pulls through and while he's at the hospital, you get him fixed so you can bring him back to longhorn.Lesters to be with his family.Cause it's safer for him there. He'll be lonely without them
I don't know how that'll work because Ernie would be put at risk of mating Indie, his daughter.
He will be lonely if he's on his own I agree, but we don't know that it's safer there.
@@adabellerodriguez7172 They will have to have him fixed first or keep him in a separate pasture.
@RobertaS-69 I was thinking this too Roberta but then I remembered previous conversations about not doing a major procedure immediately following an illness. However since he's already at A&M maybe? I sure hope so as I agree with what you've said here. 👍❤
@@stilllearning8360 I have no clue but is neutering a male a major procedure?
Life is all about learning and change! You and Lester are so good about doing your very best for the animals. Praying for you and all the fur-babies!🙏🏼💕
Good reason not to feed straight on the ground or even a pile of hey that mat have been contaminated. My condolences, it's not easy to loose one we love
Thanks for all of the information!! I learn so much watching your channels!! Keeping y’all and sweet Ernie in my prayers!! God bless!!!💕❤️💕
Prayers answered for Annie and Indie and the rest of the Littles. Pouring on the Prayers for Ernie. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I think you and all the family do an amazing job taking care of all the animals. Losing Okie was 😢. But, please don't beat yourselves up because it happened. We have faith in you, and we know you always do what you think is best. Watching you and Lester brings me such joy! I am mostly bedridden, so I live to watch you do things I no longer can. I watch the whole family. I want to thank you for the happiness I get every day watching you. Please take care. I love you guys.
I hear your pain Jami on more than one level. I hope all involved follow your lead my friend. Continuing prayers and sending healing to Ernie. I'm thankful that Anne and Indy are free from that horrible parasite and I'm thankful they were at LHL. 💟Okie 💟 will always have a piece of my heart.
I am extremely saddened by the passing of Oakey. He was a unique Alpaca in his personality and external beauty. I can't imagine your sadness. I am sorry for your loss. It was a blessing to enjoy his antics and mischiveousness. I loved him very much.
Good Sunny Morning from Pennsylvania. Continuing Praying for Ernie. I watched Lester's and your videos of visiting him ,He knew that his Mom and Dad were there. The way he looked at you when you were hand feeding him hay🥹.Okie will be forever in our hearts 💙💙
Your the best Jamie, and Lester
Sending prayers and thoughts for Ernie, and also sending again my condolences to you on the loss of sweet Okie.
I hope your remark about Ernie having a place to come home to means. He will come home to his family at LHL.
Bless you Jami on the visit to Erinnie he had sick eyes ! I felt bad for him
Good morning Jamie 🌻. Hopefully it's all good news from here on out 🙏🙏🙏🙏
So glad to hear there are no parasites at LHL ! Continued prayers for Ernie !
Thats good news ❤ I'm still in shock with okie and sending prayers for Ernie ❤❤
You do your best always, when you know better then you do better. This was a hard loss but thankful Ernie will return to his family.
My heart hurts also for the loss of Okie & Ernie's illness. Very thankful that Annie & Indy are okay. Hopefully Ernie will be okay, especially when he gets back to Annie. Much love & prayers for all the babies, you & Lester. Luv ya all: GRAM 👵 in TX. 🙏🙏❤❤❤
Good evening jami. hope Ernie is getting better ❤
Thank you for taking Oakies loss as a teaching moment for others. Oakie is greatly missed. He’s left a big hole on all 3 properties ❤️
We live & we learn & we love. It’s all there is. Blessings. Praying for Ernie.
Saddened beyond words at the loss of Okie dokie💔
Actually, a little angry as well.
I know hindsight is 20/20…but I have a lot of mixed emotions right now😔😢
It sounds as if Ernie is rallying & for that I am so grateful.🙏🏻
Thank you for the good news. Prayers for Ernie
Great idea on a dishwasher to assist with cleaning. 2 sets of bowls is worthwhile to ease the routine!
Poor Ernie 🙏🥰❤️ have ask if dragging the pastures makes any difference? Lester used to drag the pastures once a week when you lived at the ISS !
Relieved to hear #Annie & #Indie are clear. Prayers for #Ernie 🙏 and condolences for 🌈#Okie🌈 he was such a curious, kind, loving, special boy. I will miss him so much 💔
FYI, and I'm sure typo. Annie & Indie are clear.
@breezee_g yes, oops
I’m just relieved to know Earnie is not going back to ISS.
Good morning Jami! Sometimes no matter how hard we try, Mother Nature may win! No one should blame you for Okie's passing as it seems to be a problem right now for others in Texas as well. We all will miss that sweet boy. Heaven gained one cute boy!
You and Lester always go above and beyond so I don't think you can blame yourselves ❤
I think purchasing a replacement bowl for their feed could free you the stress if you need to miss a day of cleaning. These spare buckets can be used while the dirty ones are being washed and dried.
Prayers for all who are dealing with parasites, especially Ernie.
Jami I'm glad that Annie, Indie and all of the other animals are going to be ok. I pray that Ernie will be able to pull through this. I'm still heartbroken over the loss of our beloved adorable little Okie. Sending hugs and prayers to you and your family!🙏👼💓🙏😇💕
Jami, You're so blessed to be close to one of many of Your babies. Hold it's face in Your hand, look in it's eyes and see the Unconditional Love they have for you. Such a comfort feeling. I appreciate You sharing this Love with us. For us to feel that Love too. Love You Friend, Nancy
Thank you for the update. I know it’s going to be a lot of work but our fur babies are worth it. I’m so sorry about Oakie & I’m still praying for Ernie.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Praying for all of you during all of these major events.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Love y’all ❤️
Great news for the goats and others.
Prayers for your hearts because I know it is hard losing someone special.
Lester and Jamie, once again I thank you for sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly with us because we have the opportunity to learn as you learn. And, knowledge is power. The loss of Okie was huge for us all…..I continue to pray for Ernie’s ❤️🩹 recovery. I’m also thankful for for the good report on all of the LH babies. Sending love….
This is good news for the girls! Praying for Ernie. So sad about Okie! Glad you are taking a pro step and making things better. The good thing, you know more. Blessings.
Sending love and hugs and prayers!!
I am so sorry for your loss. The love you all have for all the babies is truly special. Sending love and prayers ❤
Such great news far Annie and Indie. Keep being your awesome selves. Much love to all.❤
Thank you for the update. It's good to hear that the other animals don't have any serious problems. 😊❤
I started a little farm just a few animals I live in Pennsylvania and it saddens me all the pain you’ve been through lately but I thank you for the information and I can always go back and look at it again to refresh my mind, thank you so very much and I’m sorry for all your loss lately but I think Ernie’s gonna be OK.
Excellent news on the girls. Oakie will be deeply missed. Thankful everyone else is okay. So scary. Love & prayers to you all 🙏🏼 💕
I'm so glad for the ladies, and Ringo. Get Stronger, Ernie 🙏🙏
Praying for Ernie. I’m so glad you all are taking steps to try to stop these nasty parasites. I will miss seeing Okie and his beautiful little face around. This one was a hard blow. I pray your decision to also take Ernie has saved his life. Sending lots of hugs your way! ❤
So glad Annie and Indie and Ringo are ok in regard to parasites. Praying for Ernie. I’m sure it was fun getting the samples.
I am so relieved that Annie and Indie are ok. Continuing prayers for Ernie, and all who are grieving the great loss of Okie. 🤗❤️🙏🏻
Jami you guys give those animals and babies such a beautiful life. Still so sorry about okie he won't be forgotten take all time you need and I'm praying for Ernie he's got this the look in his eyes when he saw you guys was wonderful ❤
All you can do is the best you know how and learn from the tragedy. My heart aches with you.
It is sad about the loss of Okie, he was such a happy little fella from day one. He will be truly missed 🙏 continued prayers for Ernie to be completely healed 🙏🙏🙏
So glad Annie & Indie, Indigo are ok. Healing, strengthening, positive vibes for Ernie. RIP Okie. ❤❤
Thank God for Annie and Indie news... My heart has been breaking for y'all... Jamie... Wish I could just give you a big ole hug for all you've gone through the past few months... Know I'm sending one in prayers... Take your time with a video of Okie.... I start crying every time I just see a pic of him right now so I can just imagine how you all are feeling... 💔💞🙏💞🙏💞🙏💞💔
Thank you for sharing and HAGD. Hugs to all.
