I've loved this since I was 11. It's as nostalgic as any cartoon you've covered.
I still remember when I was away on a school trip as a kid, sharing a hotel room, we were supposed to be asleep and got caught watching TV, but when our teacher saw it was Twin Peaks, he said that was cool, but just to turn it off straight after.
    What a legend.

I love watching these histories every Thursday, but man, I really love the extra treat when y'all stretch your creative legs and make something like this. To be honest, I've never gotten into Twin Peaks (it's hard enough for me to concentrate on a whole series, let alone a seemingly incomprehensible one from David Lynch), but I can tell how much care and effort went into invoking that spirit. Thanks for a fun ride!

As a native of the Pacific Northwest this show really did do a lot to establish the rest of the nation’s perception of us that still lingers so many years later. (For better and for worse) It made obscure regional references and really got how underdeveloped this region was during the timber industry years. It also rode on the coat tails of Stand By Me and River’s Edge which were also northwest themed “you wanna see a dead body?” kind of stories.

MY GOD GUYS. WOW. Just WOW. This hit me on a VISCERAL level man. I became a fan of Twin Peaks and watched both entire series and the movie, in proper order, about a year or two ago, and never forgot it, to the point I can still recall how I felt physically in vivid detail, while watching many of the iconic scenes.
So of course when the guy starts reciting the Woodsman's chant, I felt a jerk in my body and my jaw dropping to the floor just as it had when I first saw that episode, and i started involuntarily RECITING THE CHANT WITH HIM...
... so I guess you could say Twin Peaks made an impression on me.
Also, PLEASE tell me that what the lady says in the Red Room means that you will be doing another one of these about The Return.
Thank you guys, this was a nice surprise.
Also, it's scary how well Dan cleans up, and how well he can channel his inner "Coop!"

What an excellent episode! For anyone who never saw the show, you captured the atmosphere perfectly. Well done!
I'll never forget sitting down with a friend to watch the first episode (although I didn't remember the date or year -- thanks for the reminder!). We were expecting something wacky and weird - it's David Lynch! -- but we were unprepared for how shaken, disturbed and, frankly, depressed we were afterwards; the final scene of Sarah Palmer waking up screaming from a dream really left us both unnerved. Soon, figuring out what was really happening on this very enigmatic show became a pastime for my circle of friends. It was truly unlike anything made for TV at the time. Thanks for the great video tribute!

One thing that really shows how much TV has changed is that Twin Peaks was cancelled when it was getting 7-10 million viewers per episode. The Return was hailed as a success when Showtime estimated 2 million viewers per episode between first-run TV, repeats during the first week, and streaming.

Amazing homage - you nailed SOOO much of this, but especially the sound design!! What really make Twin Peaks work, in it's strange 'nightmare you just can't wake up from' aesthetic was the unrelenting background white noise, and you guys had it down perfectly. I want to see Twin Peaks at some point partly due to both Snoqualmie and North Bend have leaned into it as tourism, but also to fill out a trilogy of shows that have similar tones to it. Northern Exposure was filmed just on the other side of Snoqualmie Pass in Rosalyn at the same time as Twin Peaks by Universal for CBS, for the exteriors only due to most of the interiors were shot in Renton. It lasted 6 seasons.
In 2004, Sci Fi bought a pilot to be filmed in Vancouver and surrounding areas for a show they would give a go ahead for a full season. That was Eureka, and like Northern Exposure I have fond memories of it. I'm sure that thanks to the mood for both I would enjoy the quirky residents of Twin Peaks.

    How's Annie?
Great job fellas. Every last detail was pitch perfect, right down to the beautifully composed, yet legally distinct, theme music. 11/10 👌

As someone who lives near by and often visits Twin Peaks ( I've had the Pie at Tweedy's in North Bend WA plenty of times in the last 15 years) I applaud you tackling the subject. I almost thought you guys came and visited to film there. Loved it all. And also someone just released for pre-order an Agent Dale Cooper figure,(I want to say Hot Toys but not sure?) Two versions, 1 with and 1 without Laura's body. Check it out if you didn't already know about it. Come visit Seattle sometime and I can take you on a tour of North Bend! As always Love the channel and keep up the Boba Set!

"Wow, Greg, wow!" What a fantastic video and a truly loving homage. Well done!
I was a kid when Twin Peaks aired and was only semi-aware of it as a cultural phenomena at the time that burned bright but faded fast (at least here in Australia). A few years later I was in highschool on the way to study film and media and a fan of stuff that touted TP as an influence like X-Files, so I decided to rent the Twin Peaks VHS tapes (big clamshell packs of several episodes a piece) and finally watch it.
I was blown away and became an instant fan, and have been ever since. The show had a big influence on me as a writer and viewer alike. It really is one of those "lightning in a bottle" pieces of media where everything just aligned for a moment and we got something very special indeed.

I've never seen Twin Peaks before, but just from the level of cinematography & editing that went into this, I can tell you guys are incredibly passionate and really love the source material. Fantastic job making something so entertaining to someone who has no idea what any of the references are, and who saw the main character from Twin Peaks and exclaimed aloud "oh hey, I know that guy, it's Paul Atreides / the Sky's dad from Agents of Shield!". ♥

Fantastic. That drone shot in the opening scene was gorgeous. Y’all always put out quality, but this is some other level shit & the love for the source material is 100% evident.

Thanks for a great tribute to the greatest show in history that inspired so many other great ones (X-Files, Lost, etc) in turn.

This is fantastic! I never watched the show - I was a Northern Exposure person and it seemed you couldn’t be both. But after this video I’m going to have to check it out! All I know of it is from pop culture references.

So interestingly enough, there's a "breastaurant" -type sports bar/diner franchise called Twin Peaks (think Hooters, but less spray tan and more of a lumberjack & hunting lodge vibe). One day, a guy by the name of K. Laughlin almost franchised a Twin Peaks location, but then instead decided to make his own version of the concept that he called Northern Exposure. Ended up getting sued for Trademark Infringement, and ended up settling out of court.

I feel like there's a good overlap of Northern Exposure fans and Twin Peaks fans (myself included). Unconventional storytelling and compelling character relationships are at the core of both.

@@cpoc2004 I came in somewhere in the middle and seemed like a quirky but tense drama; engaging but essentially real-world. Then I saw Ed's spirit guide and was like "What the hell am I watching?" I knew that was the show for me.

I never watched it when it first aired due to not "getting" the channel it ran on in, but when I binged it a few years back on DVD, I didn't think it had aged well. It seemed to be trying so hard to be quirky. I bet it would have been better seen as it was intended: serialized, with a week or more between episodes for people to think and talk about it at school and at work, and building up anticipation for what was to come.

Twin Peaks is the show that has somehow haunted me since my childhood when my parents made me go to bed as soon as the opening theme started. After watching it, I started to see references to Twin Peaks everywhere--sort of like my own The King in Yellow.
Thank you, Greg, for coming up with the crazy idea and giving such a strange and pervasive show the treatment it deserves.

I went on a Pacific Northwest trip and stop by the area where the intro and much of the show was filmed.
I even ate at the cafe in the film and had coffee and cherry pie.
Fantastic video! It is of such high-quality.
Thank you so much for making it, Happy Halloween to you too!
