      It was a beautiful hike. And more mushrooms than we’ve ever seen. So many different ones. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

    I'm looking forward to going to Alaska on a cruise soon. We are heading to the Caribbean again in a few weeks and then southern Caribbean this summer. Hopefully Alaska will be this fall. I am enjoying your videos. keep up the good work!

    Enjoyed your video. I was born and raised in Skagway. It sure has changed! I hiked to Lower Lake many, many times. The trees have changed, they did not look healthy. The broad leaf plant with the berries is what we called "Devils Club". I am glad you didn't touch it, you only do that once! It is actually a medicinal plant people are are using. I had never seen so many mushrooms. Several looked dangerous, except the portabella. Also, no poison ivy in Skagway, no snakes either. Thank you for your video of "home".

    After seeing your detailed hike, I don’t need to do this! We were on the majestic princess to Alaska in aug 2021 and we did the train in Skagway.

    Like your videos. We’re the same age group. Just a suggestion (for everyone really.) Please eat local! Hike the trails, and try local cuisine. The folks in these towns rely on it. You’ll have plenty of time to eat “ship food.”

      Yes, we like to spend a little money when we’re in port. On this particular day most things were closed.

    Cool. My type of day, however I'm going for the first time so I choose to take the train tour. If I have time afterwards will try your route.

    Nice video. Did you run into anyone hiking the trail that day? (Besides the guy on the ATV)

    Is there a risk of encountering black bears on that route?

    • @PortMonkeys
      @PortMonkeys  Рік тому

      Yes, you could encounter bears anywhere in Alaska, but probably brown bears. We bring a can of bear spray when we hike in Alaska. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

    On a scale of 1 (easy) - 10 (hard) what would you say was the difficulty level of the hike you have in the video. If I had to guess I'd say maybe 4-5 but just curious how you'd rate it?

    Those red mushrooms, with white dots are poisonous, but also may be the source of psychedelic substances
