When he mentioned trying to connect artists with new/more audiences, I’d say the addition of suggested genres on the search page was a great add. I’ve came across a lot of good songs and artists bc of that. Also, great interview! You had in depth, detailed questions! Hoping the best for your channel!
@@emmanueloluga9770 you can create your own playlists, so I create a playlist that has a sound that I like- kinda like a specific genre, and I mostly listen to that playlist versus listening to all my “liked songs”

Very informative, and insightful questions. I can't help feeling sceptical about the benefits for artists. Whilst Ek has to say for PR reasons that he wants to benefit both consumers and artists, his business model is based on consumers paying and that will always skew his interests to align with whatever grows Spotify's customer base. At least I do believe him that he will respect the right of artists to control their identities. However, technological advancements seem to always make life hard for artists, rather than easier. And their incomes always seem to be exposed to greater risk and precarity, rather than increasing. AI needs stronger regulation IMO, in order to rebalance the power that tech platforms have over artists every time they decide to change the rules of the creative game.
I agree with this sentiment. However, the solution will not be the regulation of AI per see. Rather, we need to offer better revenue and royalty models for Artists, as well as stronger resources for Artists to organize, orchestrate, and operate their business. A CRM for artists maybe??
Would love the presentation if spotify was one of 100 free market options, when it is the monopoly capitalist capturer of all music all the nice words sound rather sinister. I don't think Spotify improved anything in podcasting - in the same way, they will improve nothing in audiobooks. They will just destroy the market, as they did with music. No sane young musician today is using Spotify if they want to earn their living. Audible is the good model for audiobooks. It's already there.
