    Love this. I’ve been training in the pool this winter. Most of the videos and books make it waaaay more complicated than it needs to be. This video was instructional, easy to understand and Gert is unassuming, funny and a very likeable personality. Thank you Gert.

      thanks for the kind words RayGun! pool training doesn't need to be complicated. especially at a beginner level. Playing and having fun is far more important to create positivity and motivation. The brain needs to enjoy the training ✌️

    I practice DNF in the pool all the time but I never thought about turning it into CNF training by doing static holds to replicate the free fall. Thanks for the tip! I’m going to try it in the pool tomorrow 😄

    As always a great video. I thought the 30 aecond static would be done underwater too? I could not even do 25m and 25m back at this point.. good to see your technique though and actually in the water!

    • @gertleroy
      @gertleroy  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Richard. Yes actually doing the breathhold under water would be better, it depends on how many weights you have on you. I guess I thought I wouldn't be able to read my dive computer under water that's why I came up. Good point!

    Hi Gert,
    Is it possible that you do to few strokes on a lap?
    After a year training I’m down to 4 strokes per 25 meters.
    But sometimes I have the feeling that I maybe use to much force(oxygen) on the push from the wall and to forceful strokes.
    Do you think, that ‘s a correct assumption?
    Grt,
    Erik

    • @gertleroy
      @gertleroy  3 дні тому

      all depends on weights and wetsuit. I do 4 strokes without weights and without wetsuit.

    • @erikb.heijnen6900
      @erikb.heijnen6900 2 дні тому +1

      You’re right but I ment when your as good as possible weight out at depth.
      I’m neutrally buoyed at the correct hight of the floor in a 2m deep pool. I do not wear a wetsuit and have 5kg weight ( 1.5 neck and 3.5 waist).
      But I was wandering if there is a possibility of using too much force/oxygen. Im order to glide more and have less strokes.
      When I was a kids (learning to snorkel with the NOB) we i did a maximum of 60 meter.
      Now after 6 months training I’m back at 50 meter.
      But in order to improve. I’m trying to get a feel for strength versus les strokes.
      Hope I have described the question more accurately 😊
      Looking forward for your thoughts on this.
      Grt,
      Erik

    • @gertleroy

      50m is already quite something, especially without fins. don't be too hard on yourself. Freediving at an advanced level takes years of training. 50 is ok. peace.

    How heavy is your neck weight?

    • @gertleroy
      @gertleroy  5 років тому +2

      this one is 800gr it's the one I use for deep diving with 1.5mm wetsuit. More weight in the pool would give me more glide, but that's not what I'm looking for.

It's a bad idea trying these things out on your own, or with a friend that doesn't have experience either in freediving. People die by loosing consciousness under water..
