Great review, I love my Aegir mono blocks! I'm looking forward to seeing how the new Aegir 2 compares to the first generation. I doub't I'll upgrade though.
Thank you for the excellent review. Is there any way you can compare this to Schiit Aegir Mono’s to a pair of Schiit Vidar? And Eversolo amp-f2? If you could do this review will be very well received because they are in same price region. Also lot of people who purchased Eversolo DMP A6 or DMP A8 will look forward to purchasing either one of amps to pair it with. I purchased DMP 6 Master Edition, but using it as a pure streamer for now, but would like to invest in either the Eversolo amp or the Schiit amp. Thank you.

Please review the Aegir 2, it is supposed to have almost double the power from the first unit with less heat also. It has a cool new 600V toroidal transformer, first time Schitt has used one.

Great review. Can you comment on how the sound changes between a single Aegir running stereo VS 2 mono Aegir VS 2 Aegir bi-amping vertically/horizontally? I am considering a purchase on the Aegir 2.

Ribbons are okay only good for limited music (I had RAAL), I preferred beryllium tweeters. thanks

These amps are audio magic. I want to listen to them more than any amp I own, even some of the really big buck amps. It makes me want to sell all my other amps and just run these for my high efficiency speakers. Could you specify, did you have them in Mono configuration for the sound sample? I ran mine in mono with Silverline Audio SR 17 speakers and one of them shut down and went into protection mode during the loud passage of a movie. Silverline's are supposed to be 89 db and easy 8 ohm load, so this surprised me. I run amp and have no problems, however. Do you always run them in mono?

Is the Aegir an upgrade over Denon PMA2000IVR? BTW, not sure if you’ve tried this combo, but I use a Denafrips Hestia preamp into the Power Amp section of the Denon - improved staging and resolution, bass is tighter and treble is more refined.
It's different Aegir is smoother Class A sound, 2000IVR is more powerful and dynamic AB sound.
I haven't use 2000IVR for a while but my favorite paring is with passive Pre but it's all depending what I'm paring with some speakers I like as it.

I think some sparkos op-amps really help. sounds all enclosed open it up

@@Tharbamar yeah they're interchangeable so you can try them in other gear as well, they are a bit on the expensive side, you probably just need to get two around about $150 plus they might let you have two if you say you do review other people have.
Out of interest, how would you compare these to the Topping PA7 Plus?
Better midrange and smooth highs but PA Plus have better bass control, it’ll be all depends on system paring and personal preference, thanks

I know its been a while, but would be good to know howdoes its SQ (not power) compare against your previous denon pma-sx11. Is the aegir competitive in the midrange?
I’m only using Aegir as monoblocks, in comparison SX-11 midrange is a bit brighter more space, Aegir is sweeter and realistic at the same time, which I like them best with metal dome tweeters in my system.

Actually it is pretty special because there is nothing comparable in this price range for build and sound, all it needs is right paring.
Show me one amplifier less than $1000 that made Stereophile Class A rating. I’ll wait.
@@ChicagoRob2 Stereophile can say mass. I judge by the sound of this video, comparing it to so many others that Tharbamar has shared. Most likely with other less "demanding" speakers they will sound better.
This IS a special sounding amplifier. Now the Vidar, while good, is not a special amplifier.
