I was there when I had no business being there, I was 13 in '93 and my friend's mother and aunt was taking us to Florida to go to Universal Studios and stopped in Atlanta on the way, it happened to be during Freaknik time, the traffic was crazy and I saw some things I had no business seeing!😂 By the time I came of age to participate it was over tho!🥺

My first one was 1994. I was in college. Never came back. I went to Black Beach Weekend in Daytona Beach. I absolutely loved it more than FreakNik. College in the 90s was the best time.
Our room got broken into in FL as well but he had a ball. We Def enjoyed FL more as well. We attended FreakNik, Black Collehe Spring break in FL and we attended the YT weekend too in FL. They are all like weekend after weekend. We were in the south for college from Upstate NY. We hit everything.
I'm just glad I had that experience. It was crazy and beautiful and wild and free and the women were all beautiful and the cars were cool and the vibe was something I hadn't seen before and haven't seen since. 😂😂
When i was at Clark in the 1970's there was a picnic in a field every spring on AU's campus ~ Parliament Funkadelic was an over arching musical theme ~ always thought Freaknik was borne out of that Celebration 🎉💃🏾🕺🏾💜

I only knew my paternal great grandparents from atlanta and that I visited. I eventually lived in Atlanta for a few years until the recession drove out many people.
