Unfortunately I had to leave Melbourne after a year of living there (damn you VISA). Watching your video has awaken fond memories for that city, thank you :)
That China Town looked like the China Town in Washington DC. It had a little Gateway into it also. We drove to Washington DC from Florida one day just on a whim. I mean we grabbed clothes and tossed them into bags and drove. We got there and went to China Town to buy sports bags for our clothes because they were in garbage bags. We did not want to check into a hotel with garbage bags. We do spontaneous trips sometimes and end up buying clothes, luggage or packs along the way because we leave home to shop or eat and do not come back for a week or two. My wife and I got married two weeks after we met and have been married for like 30 years. Enjoyed your video.
I live in Melbourne and would check out all places you mentioned! LOL Actually went to NGV last weekend and there is a Van Gogh show at the moment which is great! It's on my video too :)
I came here today because an Irishman in Rio told me _I prefer Melbourne, sorry_ when I told him I'm from Sydney. It looks lovely to visit, but I would still prefer to live in Sydney - it's just bigger, better and brighter. And you were absolutely delightful.
Yeah... with a bigger population of 100,000. Chalk and cheese. Why don't you start rating yourself against cities like London, Paris and New York as usual. And Syckley can't make the top ten on the worlds most livable cities list. So you can stop banging on about how wonderful you lot think you are.
We're moving to Melbourne from the UK in two weeks! We're exited to meet the penguins in St Kilda. Were they friendly or were they scared by all the people? Great video too!
By now you must be in Melbourne...how are you enjoying your new adventure/country? Very courageous to move countries! You chose a great place to live, Melbourne...one of the best places in Australia to live :)
My mate Con Christopoulos established the first Café in Degraves street back in the 1990's, Degraves Espresso Bar, we all told him "Man it's a dead street, you'll go broke" he said he'll turn it into one of the "great café streets anywhere, like a little bit of Europe".....man was he right!
I really miss the days of living there again, the times every morning coming to campus through Fawkner park, returning from campus by tram to CBD and walking along the banks of Yarra river then spend the night exploring every corner of the city..i really fall in love with Melbourne 🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨
Sound like you don't use satnavs very much. It chimes if you are over limit. So does Waze. So don't worry QL, you'll be fine. Millions of users can't be wrong.
2 days in Melbourne definitely won't be enough time for me to explore everything! Thanks for the ideas. Love your intro, very creative using that chalkboard as part of your videos! If only I can be that creative with mine. haha I'm trying though!

Did you visit Queen Victoria Market? Or the Brighton Beach area and see the bathing boxes? Those places were cool and I would suggest it to anyone Melbourne!
Best way to see the beaches would be to charter a yacht and cruise down the east coast of the bay and stop in on any of the Mornington Peninsula beaches
I suggest you also go shop at Chadstone Shopping centre which is the biggest shopping centre in the Southern Hemisphere and is located in the south-eastern suburbs and also depending on when you’re going you should definitely watch a sports game/event especially afl (between March and September)
i'm 15 and i grew up in Melbourne. I've been in the UK for 3 years straight. I am extremely homesick and this video brings so many memories, i've literally been to every single place mentioned. i miss it

Wow!! one of the best and most thorough travel guides to beautiful Melbourne that I’ve seen on UA-cam! Great job & Thankyou! And you’re so brave to be traveling solo as a female, I could never.. 😔
free bathrooms? what do you mean? I dont know anywhere in Australia that charges you to use public restrooms. Ive been to europe and alot of them you have to pay, but not in Australia.
Hi Mari, Wow!!! How did I miss this video?? I am now finding all the things that I need to do here. Actually, despite me living in Melbourne, you have managed to visit some areas that I haven't yet done. How long were you staying in Melbourne? Anyway, take care and all the best. Robert.
I have lived here since 1981. It is my favourite city here in Australia. I first visited Melbourne back in 1967 with my dad. We actually travelled down by train to Melbourne from Sydney, where we lived at the time. while in Melbourne in 1967, we stayed at Brunswick, which is an inner northern suburb of Melbourne. I remember there was a high building in the Melbourne CBD at the time that included a Ferris Wheel on the roof, hanging partly over the edge of the building. We actually rode on it and it was one of my scariest experiences. I haven't been on a Ferris Wheel since. The building has since been demolished, along with the Ferris Wheel. Back in the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's tram systems were being scrapped throughout the world, which also included Australia, Melbourne resisted and retained most of its tram system, which still runs today with modern light rail trams. Some other cities in Australia are now starting to reintroduce trams in modern forms, including Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra, Gold Coast and Adelaide. Just of interest, electric trams fully ran in Auckland until 1956, Wellington until 1964, Christchurch until 1954 and Dunedin until 1956. Dunedin also had cable cars, which ran until 1957.
Hi Mari, I just noticed that you mentioned that St Kilda here reminded you of Santa Monica CA. Just of interest, here in Melbourne on rare occasions, I have actually received 1580kHz KBLA Santa Monica CA on my radio. These days, KBLA have a Spanish format, though they used to be news talk. I am glad you enjoyed Melbourne. Take care. Robert.
Good job Mari. Great video, this makes me wanna go back to Melbourne :( Unfortunately I can't due to work reason. I will make sure to stay there this coming Christmas :) Now Subscribing :D
You said St Kilda reminds you of HB or MB :D I love it. Manhattan has always been my dream future home. So perfect!
Unfortunately I had to leave Melbourne after a year of living there (damn you VISA). Watching your video has awaken fond memories for that city, thank you :)
Why didnt you apply for your second visa doing agriculture?
Love your video. planning to go melbourne in 2017. Thanks for these awesome tips!!

11. Visit the Jewish Holocaust Centre in Elsternwick. I went today and it was amazing, was able to listen to a Holocaust survivors story. Very moving
No 11 . Challenge , See if you drive around Melbourne for a week without getting a speed camera fine .
I drove around for 2 weeks and did not get a ticket :-) Install HERE navigation app and it'll show you speed limits. WAZE does it as well. Drive safe!
Yeah, 'Drive safe' whilst looking at your sat nav more than the road ???
Sound like you don't use satnavs very much. It chimes if you are over limit. So does Waze. So don't worry QL, you'll be fine. Millions of users can't be wrong.
Wong CW mine doesn't chime like.
Nicola, it is in the setting. You need to set it at Setting - Speed Alert. Make sure it is ON.
You don't need to go to Chinatown the whole of Melbourne is Chinatown......

+Emily Kaplan Unfortunately I didn't make it to those places, but I wanted to! I'll have to check them out! (and maybe make a follow up video!)
+Emily Kaplan The Vic Market is a must! And pretty much any of the Bayside beaches even all the way down to Frankston and beyond are awesome to visit.
Best way to see the beaches would be to charter a yacht and cruise down the east coast of the bay and stop in on any of the Mornington Peninsula beaches
wow, brightly painted garish sheds on the beach. That;s really something to see.
No. 11 experience a AFL match at the MCG :)
_wow fanclub grand final day
Exactly. Watching footy is essential and AFL is the icon in Melbourne. I am a St Kilda supporter so the home games are played at Docklands instead...
Go Bombers!
It's a must if you're here during footy season. Otherwise watch any major sporting event (like Melbourne United Basketball) if it's the off season.
Or a cricket match even...being the Melbourne Cricket Ground...
I suggest you also go shop at Chadstone Shopping centre which is the biggest shopping centre in the Southern Hemisphere and is located in the south-eastern suburbs and also depending on when you’re going you should definitely watch a sports game/event especially afl (between March and September)

Melbourne is such a pretty city, but sadly, this video has the girl's face most of the time.
First on the list: fucking run while you still can, but dont leave via the airport as its just as filthy and dingy as the rest of the city, youre best on foot!
Melbourne is totally overrated by Melbourne people. There is no great outdoors like all the other capital cities. It's purely man-made entertainment; mostly coffee and graffiti.
More parks and gardens in inner Melbourne than any other capital city in Australia.
@@Magooch86 Parks and gardens are not "great outdoors". They are not natural spaces, and most are hardly used; just somewhere to pick up dog poo.
You forget go visit Broadmeadows shopping centre
Yeah, how dare she forgets to mention Kebab also...lol eating salad, sighhh
