The discussion around 25:17 is very interesting and I think its true in another sense as well. All identity is understood by the individual in relation to social activity, so the category of sexual identity itself presupposes some level of socio-sexual activity, i.e., promiscuity. This is seen in the development of the LGBT movement, the Stonewall riots in the US which were a watershed moment in the LGBT movement occurred within the context of gay clubs. If you look throughout the world in places where there are no nightclubs, no outward displays of sexual activity (i.e., the Muslim world), there is barely a sense of gay identity, let alone transgender identity. If gender fluidity arises from a "post-Christian" milieu, why does it present itself independently across history in cultures that had, at the time, no contact? The only argument made on behalf of the phenomenon arising out of Christianity's legacy was the brief nod towards sacrifice and new creation as vague, broad themes which could just as easily be applied to virtually any phenomenon. Where in the universe does destruction not lead to new creation? How is that inherently Christian?

Allah say And We adorned the skies nearest to the earth with lights (Stars) Q41:12. NASA say, of the 200 billion trillion stars in the universe most are nowhere near Earth. God should know this.
That is not what the verse translates to. Your translation is wrong. God mentions nothing of the stars being closest to earth. It’s your error or the error of whomever said that. Not the Quran’s. Please do find a more accurate source.
Wrong translation but even this shows the magnificence and magnitude of Allah’s creation, the lowest of all the heavens (closest to earth) is so huge that the stars we see are only what adorn the bottom of it.
Rabbuna Allah Almighty the Creator of prophets Moses and Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them all) says: (21. And of His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, so that you may find tranquility in them; and He planted love and compassion between you. In this are signs for people who reflect.) Surah 30 ar-rum ayah 21 from the Holy Quran the final testament revealed by our Creator Rabbuna Allah Almighty to the last of his prophets Muhammad (peace be upon them all)
The mocking and deriding attitude exhibited by both the host and guest towards Judith Butler and her ideas was quite disappointing and unprofessional. Critiquing and analyzing contemporary transgenderism does not excuse the complete dismissal and erasure of decades of feminist theory and gender studies as a specialized field and social movement. The use of only two figures (De Beauvoir & Butler), even if they are considered foundational, to represent the development of gender and feminist concepts in a huge corpus throughout the years really superficializes the whole thing. As for the complementarity of gender roles, it is not originally a Qur'anic/Islamic notion but rooted in Western modernity & the Industrial Revolution. Q 3:36 is not a normative statement about the inequality of the two genders, as commonly misinterpreted, because this is a quotation by Mary's mother that reflects the patriarchy of the Jewish social context of the time not allowing women to serve in sacred spaces. The immediate following verse (37) is God's response to dispel and correct that very notion. And this is in accordance with other relevant Qur'anic verses that affirm equality and to which the speaker didn't allude (33:35 - 9:71 - 3:195). Again: don't conflate criticizing transgenerism with undermining feminist theories and the pursuit of gender egalitarian ethos, or with re-inscribing patriarchal discrimination. Thank you.
With your attempt to sabotage, by trying to give an impression of erudition and knowledge of the "field", you reveal your prejudice and the fact that you have not even watched the full lecture. How were they suppose to cover every thinker in gender studies in a short lecture, when they were also covering Feuerbach, Marx, Sartre, Foucault, and others? The idea that the complementarity of the gender roles was invented in the Industrial Revolution is complete nonsense, and you would have found out if you had actually watched the lecture that the type of complementarity of the genders that was discussed was a metaphysical one, with a 13th century text cited . Your insinuation about Q 3:36 is disingenuous: neither speaker said anything about gender equality, it was VERY clear that the context was gender distinctness and integrity. "Re-inscribing patriarchal discrimination"! You've obviously studied postmodernism at a contemporary university. There was not a whiff of discrimination, or patriarchy in the lecture, it was about metaphysical complementarity. Try not to follow your postmodern professors so blindly, and try to think outside the box in which you have imprisoned yourself. Thank you.
Gender roles emerged from Western modernity? How more ignorant and self-centered can you be? Gender roles are in Islam all over the Qur'an and Sunnah. Not only that, but they have been part of every civilization. A quick hadith reference that refutes your nonsense: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Surely! Everyone of you is a guardian and is responsible for his charges: The Imam (ruler) of the people is a guardian and is responsible for his subjects; a man is the guardian of his family (household) and is responsible for his subjects; a woman is the guardian of her husband's home and of his children and is responsible for them; and the slave of a man is a guardian of his master's property and is responsible for it. Surely, everyone of you is a guardian and responsible for his charges." Sahih Bukhari 7138
If you listen carefully to his explanation, what he is basically describing, is a trajectory and a stepwise progression along a path of degeneracy. Interesting that that is exactly how Allah describes Az-Zina. وَلا تَقرَبُوا الزِّنا إِنَّهُ كانَ فاحِشَةً وَساءَ سَبيلًا And do not even approach fornication for it is an abomination, and a wicked path. 'When I have shaped him and breathed from My Spirit into him, bow down before him.’ (38:72)
Perhaps this is where Judith Butler would find herself in the Quran
Thank you for discussing this topic. Thousands of young girls are being mutilated by the medical industry for profit. The money aspect is important. This ideology is being pushed by billionaires.
In Muslim countries, women are mutilated, circumcised. It is a robbery of their sexuality.
Name one institution!!??

There needs to be more said on this subject. Needs to be hashed out further.
MashaAllah🤩is one allowed to translate articles from Zaytuna's website?
From Surah 4 'an-Nisa' (Women) verse 118~119
And he (Satan) said, “I will take to myself my due share of Your servants.”
“And I will mislead them, and I will entice them, and I will prompt them to slit the ears of cattle, and I will prompt them to alter the creation of God.”
Whoever takes Satan as a lord, instead of God, has surely suffered a profound loss.

1:53:30 - Qur'an 33:72 "but man undertook it;- he was indeed unjust and foolish".
Rabbuna Allah Almighty the Creator of prophets Moses and Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them all) says:
(21. And of His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, so that you may find tranquility in them; and He planted love and compassion between you. In this are signs for people who reflect.)
Surah 30 ar-rum ayah 21 from the Holy Quran the final testament revealed by our Creator Rabbuna Allah Almighty to the last of his prophets Muhammad (peace be upon them all)

Wokism had roots in enlightenment and didn't just sprout out at random, quite an elaborate topic.
A quick hadith reference that refutes your nonsense:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Surely! Surely, everyone of you is a guardian and responsible for his charges."
Sahih Bukhari 7138

After denying sex and gender what's the next stage? I mean what will be their next point of "realization"!?
If you listen carefully to his explanation, what he is basically describing, is a trajectory and a stepwise progression along a path of degeneracy. Interesting that that is exactly how Allah describes Az-Zina.
وَلا تَقرَبُوا الزِّنا إِنَّهُ كانَ فاحِشَةً وَساءَ سَبيلًا
And do not even approach fornication for it is an abomination, and a wicked path.

@@ponderingspirit child marriage for political or business alliances are different to consummation. Sex with nine year olds has never been normal as it's physically dangerous.. It often results in death in child birth or life long medicial problems including infertility.. (Did Ashia ever have kids despite being Muhammed's favourite for nine years?) As sex with nine year old is harmful it has never ever been the "norm"..
@@ponderingspirit😂 It dosent matter what any " canon" says.. Sex with nine year olds is dangerous.. It often results in death in childbirth or life long medicial problems including infertility... Sex with nine year olds has never been normal and there is ample historical records.. It could never be normal as it would harm the children and most parents are not that cruel and want to protect their children...You have zero evidence that sex at nine was ever normal and zero evidence that girls in California physically mature faster than girls in Canada... Even, if they did, marriage abd sex at nine is inappropriate. We don't allow nine year olds to choose their own bedtimes, education diet or personal hygiene routines... We certain my don't allow them to vote, drive or enter into legal contracts.. But you think marriage and the tremendous emotions of sex are appropriate at nine? Maybe you regard human sexuality as nothing more than animal instinct.. A warm feeling.. No "big deal"... That's what pedophiles claim isn't it.. "No big deal"..

Would love to watch the video, but it's too long.
I “listened” to it in bite sized intervals over the course of two days while completing chores, or on my walks and while commuting, etc. I don’t watch the screen and treat it like a podcast. I found it’s much easier to listen to these important conversations that way.
Just do ten minutes a day or something
