Emergency mode automatically reduces power to 50W max. I think I'm correct in saying that in Emergency mode the tuner does not memorise it's settings, i.e. you need to retune each time you change band. But it is a design feature, so there should be no concerns about using it. There are concerns about those who seek to modify the rig to use the wider tuner controls to allow nearer to 100W which will but greater stress on componeents.
@@LB0FI Limitation of 50W is to prevent too high voltages and amperage at higher SWR in tuner to do not break it and it is enforced. You don't need to lower power, even with 100% power set it is still limited to 50W.

I just ordered the 991a today. would have bought the 7300 but it does not have 2 meter or 70 centimeters. as the only reason.

This was most important feature to bay IC7300 and not FT710 for portable operations. Also smaller RX power usage.
It’s a good feature, although I don’t know what the long term effects will be.
