That's when the commercials were just as entertaining as the show you were watching on TV.
Who here can remember the Commercial that said:
I CAN'T BELIEVE I ATE THE WHOLE THING?
You ate it Ralph! That was a good one!
Present. 😊
You got that right
Even my parents would say be quiet when the commercials came on and the spicy meatball commewrical was spot on That guy could have been my Grandpop and we would all LOL.
One time Grandpop was with us and the commercial came on, we held out breath.
Grandpop said that guys not Sicilian, we all LOL so much Mom had to run to the Loo!
To this day I still say "Moma Mia, thats a spicya meat-ta-ball".
I do too!,even when I'm enjoying me Spaghetti & Meatballs which is my favorite Dinner in years.
LOL... that, and "I can't believe I ate the Whoooooooole thing!"
Charles Rhine you were born in the 70s?
Charles Rhine
*meatahballa
Charles Rhine interestingly enough, due to the confusion of that commercial, people thought that they were selling spaghetti sauce, not Alka Seltzer
These are about a thousand times better than most commercials these days!
They were entertaining.
Nowdays, when I see a woman dancing around in a commercial, its because she took a crap and celebrating.
How about all those pill commercials?they want you to take them and than they tell you about the side effects, how boring.
@@suzannewillis817 "May cause headache, nausea, seizures, cardiac arrest, & sudden death... similar to a sugar pill"
@@howiedewin3688 we need the classic commercials of yesterday. Maybe a commercial tv land with the classic commercials at least they can be enjoyed leave the garbage behind.
Alka Seltzer had the best ads. Anyone remember "No matter what shape your stomach's in" and "I can't believe I ate the whole thing"?
I remember "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" LOL 😂🤣
Great memories.
@@TH-sn7mw Do you remember "Try it, you'll like it"?
Marian Moser-Otto I can’t believe I ate the WHOLE thing....Plop plop, fizz fizz, oh what a relief it is!
Marian Moser-Otto Hey Mikie! He won’t eat it, he hates everything. Hey Mikie, he LIKES it! Lol
Commercial were actually a lot better back then.
"Actually"? Did someone say they weren't?
And not half as annoying.
@@davidperez5089 well said.
I'm still looking for the crying clothes iron.
Everything was!
Classic commercials brought back a flood of great memories and forgotten actors. Thanks... I was young again.
Anybody else felt sorry for those poor hard working bubbles when they had to go down the drain?
does anybody know who's voice was used for the main scrubbing bubble? It is on the tip of my tounge. I just can't remember it.
I beleive it was also used as a cartoon voice
tigger from winnie the pooh. it finally slid off my tounge
@@mikemarr5609 Paul Winchell aka "Tigger" in Winnie The Pooh...
😂🤣😅We work hard so you don't have tooooooo!
Loved growing up watching those 70's commercials, just seeing Roy Scheider doing Folger's Coffee promo was worth the whole video.
The Camay commercial was HILARIOUS !!!!
Avery Schreiber w/o a mostache?
Back when ads were watchable.
Yeah, the Teaberry Shuffle never gets old.
TV in general
Absolutely! Beats all the insurance.drug and lawyer ads today And if I hear Plexiderm or Senior Life one more time I'll lose my mind
Some of these were actually enjoyable to watch.. I think some of these Ads had to be from late 60's as well
@TROLLIOSIS #1
When TV arrived free to everyone through the air.
Thanks for sharing these oldies. How can anyone alive and over age 6 in 1970 forget that classic Ann Miller spot for now long-gone Great American Soups. That one is a true classic.
Ok makes sense now... it's Annie Miller. I was confused wondering when Annette Funicello became a triple threat.
We kids used to giggle that Great American Soups really gave one G.A.S. lol
I was about to ask if that was Ann Miller. I thought I recognized the dancing, but the resolution is so low her face was blurry.
Dave Willock is the husband.
@@fromthesidelines the other one in wanted to see was the "I can't believe I ate the whole thing. - You are it Ralph!"
70s commercials were song and dance productions, nothing is the same anymore, you used to laugh, now u wanna vomit,
You're right. But, I still laugh sometimes at the Farmers Insurance ads starring Oscar-winning actor J.K.Simmons. I love the insurance ads that show stuff like cars dropping on people.... it reminds me of the Three Stooges' humor.
W00dy J0hns0n ☝🏻troll.
Don’t want to vomit...just fast forward!
@W00dy J0hns0n Go outside and take a walk ...a very long walk and try to find yourself
@@rafaelramirez3180 well then you should of just let him look in the mirror to find im'self
Ann Miller ... The Great American Soup ... wow, what memories and what a classy lady
Our society was classy back then
IIRC, humorist Stan Freberg produced that spot.
That alka seltzer commercial with the spicey meat a balls was one of the best! Used to laugh like hell when we watched it on t.v.
Oscar Robinson That and the newlywed wife who cooked poached oysters and other god awful dishes
I remember that they had to discontinue that ad because it offended some Italian/American group. I'm only half Italian but I it was my favorite ad too.
It was discontinued because people thought it was advertising a real spaghetti sauce, not Alka-Seltzer.
Oscar Robinson ----- A classic commercial!!!!
Ernest Sire. Ciao da Bagheria Sicilia. Well I am all Siciliani and never gave it much thought. And you are only half Italian. Now would you have been offended?
Vic Tayback: Hey we need some more of those heaters!
can you imagine how much theyd spaz out about those guns now
"Most days in the north of Boston, Anthony takes his time going home, but Wednesday is Prince spaghetti day."
That was such fun to watch. It brought back really good memories. Loved Vic Taylack in the Winkels commercial. I so remember Bing Cosby in the Minute Maid one. That was when commercials didn't go all loud when they came on, not like today when the minute they come on the volume raises way up to capture our attention.
The alka seltzer commercial cracks me up everytime..
Same here!!
Does anybody remember those TV Guide commercials with the futuristic background music? They ran from about 1972 to 1980. Back in the days when 4 out of 5 houses had a TV Guide on their coffee table. They were 15 cents in those days.
I remember that as soon as my mom would come home from food shopping, the first thing that I took was the TV Guide and read it from cover to cover. Checked out the sports and movies and they usually had some good celebrity stories. Really miss those days....
fscap811
And Cleveland Armory reviews..
The guy HATED Everthing!
Yeah I remember them. My mom always had a subscription for TV Guide on the coffee table.
@@daniellaubsch1605 Is TV Guide still in business? I stopped getting them in the early 90s and I don't think I've seen one in about 15 years.
I really don't know. Now with the internet and tv having a large majority of show information readily available would make me think not bein printed these days.
Oh please take me back the 1970's years when I was a kid. I surely and tremendously miss my era. When I was a kid back then, I wanted to be an adult and now as an adult, I wished that I was a little kid in the 1970's? Those were the days and times, groovy far-out time? As a 51 yearsold, I would like to cry but as a man, I don't like to cry at all?
Maria Ford I know what you mean about that, I was born in December 1966 and I miss out on a great era? As a baby boy what did I know what as going on in 1966 nothing? At least I know what was the 70's was like anyhow?
I'm 46 and agree with your sentiments Steve Baer. But we must be 70's type men and NOT cry! : )
Nobody EVER --except perhaps Marcha Brady--said groovy..
Just turned 59. I miss the 70's an my childhood as well.
I was born in the 50's, and it wasn't until the 70's that they actually tried to entertain you with funny, ironic and strange even racy commercials. These are good examples of that. They kept trying to outdo themselves thankfully. Most TV's didn't have remotes, so you were forced to watch/listen to these over and over again.
Chief Brody: "You're gonna need a bigger coffee pot!"
I LOVE ALL OF THEM! They brought back such sweet memories growing up in the 60s and 70s. The commercials back then were more of substance and creativity than they are today!
I need a cig after that Camay soap foreplay.......My mom used that soap, I can still smell it in her bathroom from 45 years ago......lol
BlindMellowJelly need a cig Lol
BUY HIM SOME CIGS!
Smoking a joint right now of some good loud kush
BlindMellowJelly The best smelling soap. My favourite. Many terrific products have been discontinued. 👎👎
I think Rosie is played by Rosalind Harris, the actress who played oldest daughter Tzeitel in _Fiddler_ _On_ _The_ _Roof._
The late, great Ann Miller in the last ad for soup.
She was soooo marvelous...
With Dave Willock. Directed by the late great Stan Freberg.
She was ultra talented and smoking hot. Sexiest legs in history. RIP Ann.
I’m sorry but I’m that ad she had so much cameltoe it’s hard to be sure that’s not a man-package in her little panties, there.
Ann Miller sang and danced for decades, and maintained a great pair of gams. Don't remember the Great American Soup Company, but I do remember her.
MrChrispy777. Great American Soups went out of business.
"Discountinued" is more accurate. It was Heinz.
I thought it was Mary Tyler Moore
Gams.
That spot was written by Stan Freberg. He was a genius.
I remember watching these 70's commercials as a little kid.
Now I want spaghetti and meatballs
Me too, damn!
I want oldschool 70-80’s spaghetti and meatballs with the old meat. Not this tasteless generic “meat” we get now
That's what im talkin' about, wink!
justin richard That means it’s working
Oh hell yeah !!
That Camay commercial is just as silly as it was when I was a little boy! 😂
I remember all of these commercials, and loved growing up in the 70s. Best decade ever!
Roy Scheider? Gonna need a bigger cup Rroy...
AND JUST HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT???!
Actually Roy...it doesn't just taste great...but its less filling...!!!
RetroGuy76
Ha Ha Ha Ha, Same Here!
LOL !
Doug Montgomery
He's parodying a line from 'JAWS'
I remember by best friends father just laughing to the point of tears watching the spicy meat-a-ball commercial. He made all of us laugh even more. Didn’t realize how I would treasure that memory especially now that they’re gone. Thanks for helping to bring back a wonderful memory.
Everything was better in those days I know I grew up in them I'm 63 now I use to hurry home to watch superman and dialing for dollars
The Alka Seltzer ad is still funny and so well done.
OMG! I love the Teaberry shuffle. I remember those commercials from my childhood. Great memories!
That Great American Soup commercial was mentioned in TV Guide; at the time of its release, it was the highest-budget commercial ever made.
great memories seeing these commercials
Hear Hear!!
Gosh I miss teaberry gum.
I remember the football player doing the Teaberry shuffle in front of the opponent...that was funny. :D
Caprizchka C, gee, I don't. That stuff tasted awful!
I find it from time to time. Walking in the woods my father pointed out a teaberry tree
Sure sounded like Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass...
Newbury comics has it...and blackjack
"What's new at the Soap Factory?" Oh, my God...lol!!!
😂😁 Right!
Brought back memories of happier days. Thank you!
I'm surprised that they didn't include the Dunkin donuts commercial
"Time to make the doughnuts"
Ah, classic commercials- something positive in this crazy world we're living in 👍❤👍!!!
"Heeeyyyy, what is that?"
(looking at sparkling coffee grounds)
"It's new instant Folger's coffee crystals with real broken glass!"
"See, it sparkles!"
+Clark W I was thinking it was cocain
I saw actual cocaine (when I was on a jury; in fact we rendered a Guilty verdict). How about you?
I've never seen cocaine in person. Though I did grow up in a wealthy town where it was supposedly used by many.
Clark W my nostrils have seen alot of it.... it makes me fart
Waaaaay too much information!
1:10 lol I wonder how many of those he had to eat until he got it right.
Wow! I didn't know Roy Scheider filmed a commercial ✊ love him good actor he was in the 70s
Scheider
Yeah, that's who I thought he meant.
Joe L still a good actor that he was before he passed.
Agreed. He did a lotta great work.
He was also in a movie named the 7 ups early 70's.
Thank you for uploading this great footage from a "By-Gone Era"... I miss the past...but as we all get older ....We can cherish these clips with good thought's..
Growing up I watched Bewitched tv show. I always imagined Darrin Stevens coming up with commercials like these
As a toddler, I was so disappointed that the real "Scrubbing Bubbles" were nothing like the commercial; after watching that ad for the 1st time since then, I realized the voice actor was Paul Winchell (can't mistake that Tigger laugh)!
Is it just me I wonder? I'm 73 years-old, and seeing these old t.v. ads give me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. I was 21 in 1970 and these commercials bring back such warm and happy memories of a bygone era, although the television broadcasts were not that blurred. It has to do with the equipment we had at the time and running it now with modern equipment.
My to-do list: 1. Learn to do the Teaberry Shuffle
I have the 45 rpm record that they offered free for sending in a few wrappers. It has instructions on the back of the record sleeve on how to do the Teaberry Shuffle!
The great Reva Rose in the Camay commercial!!! She originated the role of "Lucy" in "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown," when it first ran off-Broadway. A real talent. Shame we didn't get to see more of her.
She Was In An Episode Of The Ghost Mrs Muir "Ladies Man"I Still Think She's A Hottie
And Avery Schreiber (without his mustache!) as "Eddie".
Aww. Bing Crosby finally had a batch of kids he liked.
Good one!
You can tell the instant coffee's good by the way it sparkles like maybe some metal shavings from the factory got into the jar.
Ha ha. It was an industrial process - freeze-drying (lyophilization).
😂😂😂😂😂
Adds some seasoning
This brings back so many great memories for me! I loved the 70's. Thank you for this video.
This is an example of what is missing in today's commercials. Wit, cuteness and damn good jingles.
“Momma Mia! Dat’s-a spicy meat-a-ball!”
*oven door falls off*
I grew up in the 1970s. I can't remember to many of those commercials. Great seeing Riy Schieder from the Jaws movies in the coffee commercial. Vic Taback that Mel in the show Alice, in that pantyhose commercial. Thanks for posting this 👍. Great memories.
The spicy meatball for Alka-Seltzer is the funniest commercial I have ever seen. And, as to Ann Miller what can one say? Positively wonderful! One expensive commercial..... also, Bing Crosby did another minute maid commercial where he ended it by saying, ‘When it’s Minutemaid, there’s no doubt about it’, in his special low voice. And, is there a better ad to define the 70’s than The Teaberry Shuffle? SHADES OF Burt Bacharach and Herb Alpert?
Tea Berry shuffle rules!
In the Folger's commercial, guy is a very, very young Roy Scheider BEFORE Jaws. I also remember all these commercials. I guess I'm old......
Skipped an ad to watch more ads from the 1970's.
"Best I've ever had!"
"That pantyhose just lays there!"
"Why does the coffee sparkle?" "Just taste it." "WHY does the coffee sparkle?"
"JUST FRICKIN' TASTE IT!!" "Blghghhghghhh. . . can't. . . breathe. . ."
Lol!! 😂😂🤣
I have no memory at all of posting this.
"New" Folgers coffee crystals..ugh,I've been drinking that for over 40 years!
I loved going to my grandparents farm in the summer because they would let me have this coffee! Great memories!
Thats the late roy schieder ....from jaws...
WHY ???
That Alka Selzter commercial is so funny!
The woman in the Camay commercial is very attractive. Imagine how nice she looks in real life.
The Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet is such a beautiful composition!
Oh my gosh these are great ! I find that a lot of the 70's music, television shows, fashion, commercials, and so on..., are great. I am lovin' it.
Hai Karate--holy poop, its been yrs.. great stuff..
The Camay spot: my gosh, that was the first place I had ever heard the famous love theme adapted from Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet" ballet score. Imagine, commercials teaching kids about music. Almost choked when I saw this -- first time since it was a current ad.
They don't make commercials like they used to, these bring back so many memories.
I love those commercials from my teen years and the prices were unbelievable
Hai Karate!! My Dad still has some of that around. It smells to high heaven
Be careful you you use it. Just sayin'.
1:25 - 'Micey misey ballsy...'
That Alka Seltzer commercial is my all time favorite & still makes me laugh. Thank you for the smiles!
This shows the innocence of those times . Were we not more happy in those days ? Are we not more tightly wrapped now ?
What a fun selection of commercials! :) Some I remember, some I don't.
Times haven't changed too much!!!
I think Apple should sell iPhones in the style of an old commercial.
Teaberry gum was so good..very unique flavor 💜
Dig how the Hai Karate ad "clearly demonstrates how the product is used". Bottle over palm, shake out, rub together, rub on face. Love it. Nice and clear. ....and FUN!
Mamma mia that's a spicy meat ball ! You can wash it down with coffee made from Folgers crystals. If you mess the sik, you can clean up with Scrubbing bubbles. I remember these commercials quite well from when i was a kid.
This would be banned today lmao im glad i lived thru (what seemed like) simpler times🙋🏼♀️⏳
Spicey meatball. One of my favorites!
Back when effort was put into commercials because watching TV was a thing. Now, it’s social media ads or streaming service ads.
Mel Sharples is that you?! Naw, that's Vic Tayback telling you which brand of pantyhose to wear if you want a successful robbery. Niiice!
KISS MAH GRITS!!
I THOUGHT that was Vic!!!
I was about to ask this! XD
How in the hell did they make those crystals? The world may never know...
@T OB I thought they were plutonium and uranium particles.
I think I will put some of these adds in with my bottle digging adventure videos most definitely there great I remember most of them.. well done
The great Ann Miller dancing for a soup commercial? She deserved way better. She was a Hollywood Star starting in her teens. Total class, amazing dancing talent. Kids need to see this instead of the garbage they are presented to as talent on music videos. This IS great because she must have been in her late 40's if this is indeed from 1970 on, don't know. But in one minute she knocks it out of the park at that age with energy like she's in her 20's. Amazing.
As soon as I seen panty hose commercial I thought , "Kiss my grits!"
Loved these commercials
The Spicy meatball commercial was produced by Griner-Cuesta and directed by Angel "Mike" Cuesta, my neighbor and friend. He won many awards, and a CLIO award for this one, which made hi mas star in the biz. He made many memorable commercials after that.
bing crosby - roy scheider - ann miller - vic tayback... I think I remember a VW commercial from that era starring Dustin Hoffman
HAhahaha the Ann Miller one is fantastic! I was like, "Holy mackerel, that's Ann Miller! and then she ripped off her apron..."
Lellobeetle Whatever became of Great American Soups?
That Great American Soup ad was really cool and well made.
The 70s were my formative years. These commercials explain why I'm a leg man.
No, it's a genetic trait. I'm a WWII baby, and I'm a leg man myself. Of course, there dancing women galore when I grew up!
Back when commercials were NOT for drug/meds, insurance, and lawyers 😖😖😖
haha! srubbing bubbles hasn't changed a bit, except now its not a cartoon!
isivaz2319. I'm still mad at them. I was eye old and got a spanking because I used a whole can trying to see them zip around like they do in the commercial.😒😸😸😸
That sounded like Paul Winchell's Voice (inventor of the artificial heart) Winchell Mahony Time.
Some of these old commercials are funny...
The Camay commercial was great! I miss the good old days!😆
My parents loved the Alka-Seltzer "spicy meatball" commercial!
Great 70's commercials!
Anyone remember the old Luden's cough drop commercial from the early to mid 70's where a guy walks into a store and asks for a cough drop that doesn't taste like medicine, and then the store clerk breaks out into a song about Luden's?
I'd forgotten that until you mentioned it. Lol
Who would ever have thought the time would come when when 70s commercials put modern TV junk to shame?
These were great! I remember these commercials like it was yesterday. These were much better days in this country.
Roy Scheider in that Folgers commercial.
