6:00 you could have pressed Pattern + Copy and then go to the new pattern and press Pattern + shift + copy. Would have saved a few steps. But you’ve also shown folk how to copy & paste just certain tracks, which is all good too 👍🏼. Great video.
That is a really nice notion that something like the Polyend Tracker can be that other collaborator that can inspire and help you to create. Food for thought.
Sequencers can be a ton of fun to experiment with if they offer some degree of randomness available. You can get a lot of new ideas that way because they'll combine (or generate) combinations of stuff you may not think to try yourself!
People..If you're not playing with the Tracker, you might be stuck in the same, same, same way of trying to create music. It's probably the best way to invest $600,and you can take it anywhere. It's coming on a trip with me this weekend..I use a tablet, laptop,Zoom recorder to grab sounds, and the Polyend Tracker to create organized noise...
@@VenusTheory I started with the Ensoniq ASR10,and people said all sorts of trash about it,because they could not get their head around it's so called 'limitations'.I even bought the 16MB RAM update and never installed it,and worked over 20 years with 2MB.It's my baby that runs my live setup on the turntables, with a Roland HS60,which i also run everything through.Since then,I bought Yamaha A4000 I gave away,a Em-u E6400,I have yet to delve into,a JamMAn,and the ROland MV8800,which is another unsung monster.I just recently got the Tracker, and more doors have opened, plus, this time I can travel around with it.I hate the preset mindset,so I am full out Open source, into Reaper, into VCV,into anything that keeps the mind going in different directions.
This is great timing, I've had the Tracker for a year or so and have had a lot of fun with it just using it as more of a stand-alone. I only just recently starting trying to work it in with the rest of my gear, this gives me a lot of ideas
Thanks for sharing this knowledge! I really love how there are so many interesting and cool things you can do with the polyend tracker outside of its normal sample based function! Truly an amazing machine!
Thank you for sharing this! The fill feature is far and away my favorite feature of the tracker. Helps me get inspiration when it's hiding from me. Typically I leave it on bass lines, but definitely makes me want to try to leverage it for ambient stuff.
You made me grab my tracker and try this out and the result is just beautiful. I would love to see a more in depth video about the topic as you've mentioned in the video.
Thanks for this! Is really amazing step further for me till im pretty new to tracker and dawless electronic setup 💫 had struggle to configure midi first but after while i started jamming with generative stuff looper and microfreak for hours. 👍 would love to see more tutorials and thoughts of tracker and beyond. the potential of this thing is stunning 🌟
A lot of people talking about generative techniques talk about how these techniques can create ideas that can be expanded upon to create "a full piece" but I've never seen anyone actually show how they start from generative 'sketches' and produce a somewhat finished work.
Check out the new album Stochastic from Carbon Based Lifeforms! All generative compositions. I would guess though it's mostly due to the fact that the whole process just takes a lot of time, and doesn't make for a very fun/watchable video. Not too interesting to watch people noodle about for hours and hours.
@@VenusTheory Yeah, that's definitely understandable. Some general pointers would be helpful though. I've come across some videos talking about expanding loops into larger pieces and that has been useful but insight into techniques for doing that with generative material would probably be enlightening. Thanks for the music recommendation.
This was great and I was able to replicate something similar on the polyend play using this concept. i want to try this concept and use a long sample and set random sample position triggers every where across multiple patterns.
Can you do this same sort of generative stuff with samples internal to the device? For example, could you use the fill function to generate random slices of a sample recorded live into the device. Kinda looking for something that mimics some of the functionality of Buffer Shuffler in Ableton.
Got mine for Christmas & only just started using it. I remember seeing a tracker in the early 90s, when I was just 11-13. Went right over my head, far too complicated for me. All I was able to do was edit existing tracks. Even now I'm finding the polyend tracker+ complicated but I just need time. Kinda feels like I jumped in the deep end as this is my first instrument. It's clearly evident as my regen pattern sounds terrible. Which daw suits the tracker? Would the Behringer crave pair well with this? PS only other music hardware I have is midi controllers.
Hey there. This is still great two years later. I have the tracker mini on the latest firmware, and I’m curious how a couple of years and some firmware updates might change how you approach this kind of music, or this particular workflow. Thanks anyhow for the video. Super cool
Hi Cameron, here Alexi from Colombia 🇨🇴 in South America. As usual fantastic and inspiring vid Cameron. I saw your video on euclidian rhythms using the Torso T1. How do you compare the capabilities of the tracker with the ones find it in the T1? Is t possible to achieve similar results. What are the advantages of one over the other?
Would love to learn how you could do something like this directly on a DAW like Ableton Live. I think this has potential and is very useful but I’d rather experiment with the concept of randomness first to see if it would be worth the investment.
Very cool! And I'm curious, since I am literally >this close< to ditching my current DAW for Bitwig: would it be possible to create something similar in Bitwig's grid and/or the new note FX? Not to recreate this precisely, but get something roughly equivalent.
Stochas is a free VST that does probablistic sequencing. He did a video on it to see if it's your jam. Note that if you do go with it and in Ableton, you won't get the layers to work with different MIDI instruments - as far as I can tell, it's just a part of how Ableton is coded. Other DAWs may not have the same issues.
Very fun little box indeed. Hard to put it down - as weird and sometimes infuriatingly limited as it is, it's one of those things you just constantly want to fiddle with and find a ton of inspiration in the process.
What tools do you love to use when you're stuck in a rut? 🤔
Want to check out the tracker for yourself?

+100 - inspiring video 🔥

You just had to sneak your best bud Paul-stretch in there didn't you 😂! Very interesting BTW 👍
WE NEED MOAR!!!!!!! seriously tho this was awesome 👌 👏

The weirdness of the Tracker is so refreshing when I feel like I'm stuck. Totally breaking that conventional workflow is really inspiring!

The pattern playback selection in the performance mode is so deep; I didn’t even notice it was there. Great video. Instant subscribe here 🤘
So glad you made this video. Wonderful!
this is the first video of yours I've seen and you have the best voice on UA-cam.
You made me grab my tracker and try this out and the result is just beautiful. I would love to see a more in depth video about the topic as you've mentioned in the video.
wow love that can be great tool for creating lo-fi sounds thank you sharing all that knowledge around !!!
This is great, I'm super impressed with how great of an idea this is!

This was not stupid and none trash but very inspiring !!! Thanks for sharing your uncommon ideas 💡
Superb Video! Thank you!
You've got a perfect voice, intonation and pitch to be a commentator for a TV channel or a radio station...
"Todays video is a little bit more unsceipted and random" - I see what you did there 😊
Great video man .

1:38 can you spell that plugin? - Ah I got it - Stochas!
Got a full video on it here as well! ua-cam.com/video/Wyx8cz7oxLI/v-deo.html
"Fleshy meatbag inclinations" is a sick death metal band name

nice, is there an extended version?

If you are into trackers, I recommend checking out Renoise and Redux. Very powerful, mature, and extensible tools.
Is track 5,6,7 & 8 muted? because they also contain pattern 1 in performance mode?
I want to try the Tracker with the PE Synth

Look up clips and follow actions, there is plenty of potential for generative process with those.

Yep! With the new Operators update, you can do all this in the piano roll. I may do a video on that in the future.
Very nice. Maybe pure DAW version this?
Really interesting! Is there anything in software that offers similar functionality?

Made in Poland ;)
gimme all the tracker content please
Love some hot tracker action haha
Without effects It sounds like a dos game 👍
Now that's a used Tracker.
Haha it's a really fun little unit - usually have it sitting near my desk and noodle around on it throughout the day when I need a bit of a break.
I'm trying to save money and postpone my idea of buying a Polyend Tracker, but this video isn't helping.
Damn this cool little machine!
Very fun little box indeed. Hard to put it down - as weird and sometimes infuriatingly limited as it is, it's one of those things you just constantly want to fiddle with and find a ton of inspiration in the process.
Could you make a video on the tracker - without reverb? :P
Cool tutorial. This is an example of how not to make tracker music. Fill option is for lazy ass music makers.
