The Madison Scouts uniform looks like the design I'd have in mind if I was designing a uniform, and then the tree uniform would be what it turned out looking like.
Okay don't worry, Getting corps Confused, isn't bad because there are at least 4 drum corps with Blue in the Name. The bluecoats, The bluedevils, The bluestars and the blueknights. You get used to it😂. The 2017 Carolina Crown show is actually just "It is" I think that's just a typo. The academy actually wears like tuxedo type uniforms alot that's pretty much their trademark. I actually really liked the video because I was able to see what people thought of shows that werent like die hard drum corps fans.
10:15 the show title is actually "It is" I blame my brother for that lmao, we were only 12 when me & my brother still had bad grammar, my brother decided to make the thumbnail *which you see in the video* for a video of his, and not knowing he made a mistake in the thumbnail, 2 years later my brother's thumbnail is now on this video.
The bluecoats 2016 uniforms set a big standard that was groundbreaking. 2016 was the first year where they had a drum corp win without wearing jackets and bibbers.
Early 2000's Cavaliers are by far the best uniforms. Makes them look tall and the hats are so badass. The cleaner the uniform the classier and better IMO. A lot of the modern uniforms make them look less and less like a drum CORPS and more like a theater production. I like the older simpler looks more.
Oregons "star" thing is their logo Cadets black was just their traditional uni in black... and little history: When they originally took on the "cadet" look they contacted the US Govt for permission to copy the Cadet uni
Carolina Crown 2015, cavaliers 2014 (biased because I marched it) 2010 or for a laugh 2012, Boston Crusaders 2014 and 2019, Blue Stars 2019, Blue Knights 2016, Phantom Regiment 2008 or 2011, Cadets 2018, etc etc. I’m not saying I stan all of these, just helpful hints on some that are good and bad imo.
Any uniform design of the Cadets from Allentown PA ("Garfield/Holy Name") and Cadets 2 rocks my world. I always liked the "West Point" look in drum corps, since such design has its roots in early drum corps days.
I’ve been marching WGI percussion for now 4 years, haven’t had the money to march a corp but hopefully I can make it work. I would suggest looking at the indoor season whether it be winter guard or indoor percussion/winds. It seems like every year, groups are getting more risky yet creative with all of the costume designs. Some of my favorite costumes are from Pulse Percussion 2017, POW percussion 2017, Rhythm X 2016, STRYKE Percussion 2015 and 2017. Just a suggestion.
The thing about the Cadets uniform that you talked about (the black and white "basic" one) is that that's part of their "tradition". They've pretty much had that uniform (although it's usually in maroon and gold) since they were founded 85 years ago. I think that probably that design being used by a lot of bands and being "standard" is a testament to their success while wearing it.
Carolina Crown 2016 had the best uniforms in history imo. The pattern on the shako was something else as well as the stripe on the jacket made it look super sleek. It's just so good.
OK so the Oregon Crusaders color guard uniforms for the 2016 season were different from person to person so some would be like a crop top with mesh and short shorts others might be a full body suit and I think they all had long ponytail weaves. Drum Corps international has a prelims, semi’s, finals format for world championships; you have to score higher than others to continue. The academy show with the double breasted coat was called corps bride, with a pun on corpse, so they were looking for a Tim Burtonesque vibe. I know I’m a year late but I hope that helped
if you look up pacific crest 2019 and you see there uniforms... that was my uniform for my 2019 marching show... never again will i wear a one sleeveless and sequin sleeve ever again...it hurt in the cold and all the time, plus it would never stay in place, but from that its a good uniform.
My Granddaughter’s school, Williamsport High, has the Academy Jackets now...THEY LOOK SO GOOD! They are used for their show Masque of the Red Death. Look up Lance Morgan Blue band on youtube to see the uniform!
I mean she looks like a fashion major from a state that thinks Walmart is couture. Honestly I love the creativity of some of the concepted uniforms I just think understanding palette and design/ color theory would really benefit a lot of groups with such color being employed in shows these days. The OC tree pants were creative.
As a Bluecoats alum, I, too, hated the 2017 uniform. Bluecoats 2013-2015 uniforms were intended to connect the corps to its past, present, and future. As someone who currently lives in Portland (Oregon), I was not at all a fan of that Oregon Crusaders uniform. Have a look at the Cadets uniform from 2018. Just a steaming hot mess...

Christina B thats how I feel. Designing uniforms for a marching band or drum corps is so different from actual fashion. This was like the Facebook Drum and Bugle Corps Facebook group where old people complain about the activity.
I think one of the reasons people don’t like the Bluecoats 2017 uniforms is because they had no blue. I personally really like the 2016 uniforms. Those “things on their head” are called aussies, personally one of my favorite styles of headwear for marching (visually, I’ve never had the chance to perform in one). The tittle for the Crown 2017 show was “It Is”, whoever put it on the photo you were seeing misspelled it. Just wanted to provide my two cents, I love seeing people’s reactions to drum corps, especially when they don’t follow the sport.
I really liked the cut...but the silver gray/pink splotches didn't read on the field....the kilt was such a cool idea, and I wished they'd gone with an east village urban plaid and black using the traditional SCV colors for the plaid. The shows visuals were the weakest part..the tarps..yikes. But the score was my favorite of the season, and they killed it...especially the battery.
2016 was the biggest year for marching band, the coats took indoor ideas and brought them into outdoor shows. Downside Up was game changing, now more states perform BOA style rather than traditional pick your three songs and play them. Now everything has a story and in my opinion, it is a lot better.
That Oregon Crusaders tree uniform photo... that's me.
It seemed pretty cool... until the first show... what a way to age-out.
wow! it's awesome that it is you in the pic! not a great uniform, but i'm sure the show was fantastic!
@@BenCooperMLM it wasn't my favorite (that would be 2014), but it was a fun summer!
Good fit but not for drum corps
Hey Caleb! I thought it was funny when they said we didn’t have a color guard 😂😂
Caleb Pifer i just found this video today, but yes for 2014 Nevermore was such a good show!!
This mans interchanging coats and devils and I’m just like “you can’t do that you’ll get roasted, most fans of one dislike the other!”

Blue Devils 2017 is just nice😂
My favorite BD uniforms so far in my 20 years of being a DCI fan.

Joshua Gonzalez the differences are good low brass, good trumpets, good all brass and white rims on drums
Crown 2017 was called "It Is", that google search did you a disservice
The "fedora's" are called aussie's
thanks!
Carolina Crown 2017. That's not a shako, it's a head band.
BrothaNBlue yeah I noticed it doesn’t have a top!
???? The top part is made of clear plastic and it has a white outline so you can tell it's a shako
@@goldenpiggy3804 but it doesn't cover their head. You can see the top of their head sticking through. It's more of a visor than a shako.
@@bernie9543 and my comment is still just a joke.

SCV 2014 is DEFINITELY my favorite of all time. Very well done that year. However SCV 2019 did not have the best uniforms in my opinion.
