I have learned so much from this video in such a simple and clear way. I thank you and will be checking out your other videos. While I have you here, can I ask a question about catalog backup? When backing up "every time you exit", is LR saving only new changes? OR is is saving EVERYTHING all over again? Assuming that it is only changing the new edits done from the last time LR was opened because it saves so quickly, but before I go and start cleaning up my catalogs I want to be sure that I'm not going to be deleting any vital information needed in the future. Thanks again!
The catalog back up that Lightroom Classic does makes an entirely self contained backup, so it backs up everything. This is why I only hold on to the last 30 days worth of backups, because anything past that is probably redundant, and takes up space. But I want to stress that this doesn't mean it backs up your files, so if you deleted photos from 4 days ago, the backup will show those files, but also show they can't be located.

Im a graphic designer and regularly use Photoshop , Illustrator, and Indesign and Indesign is broken but Lightroom classic is unnecessarily confusing . I only use it because I use imagen Ai and you need separate catalogs. Such a pain .
You could just use all of the Develop features in Camera RAW in Photoshop and skip LRC all together.
@@PhotoKitchen425 That's what I've been doing. I have all my images in organized folders on an ext drive but I think it's a waste not to use Lightroom. It just feels daunting and confusing to import current files and folders into LR. But this a good video nonetheless.

90% good but i feel it is wrong to group your back ups on the same drive as ur catalog. Something like 80% of all data loss is from drive failure! In this case ur backups are just as dead as the catalog itself! it is much better IMHO to store the catalog on a seperate drive. Thank you for the effort in producing this video!
I might not have been clear, and please check out my Lightroom Catalog Backup video, but your Catalog back up is more about preventing catalog corruption, I still run a backup of all of my data, including the Catalog, on a separate drive.
