Loved this series ..... Mick Lally , Joe Lynch and Mary McEvoy among others were a great cast. I wonder will we ever have a rural drama again ? What would be a successor to The Riordans , Bracken , and Glenroe .... ?
RIP Mick lally RIP donal Farmer RIP Maureen Toal Rte dont make shows like Glenroe in Fairness it was one of the best sunday nights weren't they same without it
Watching these episodes made me feel very nostalgic. I lived in England & my sister would record Glenroe for me. I always waited until Friday nights to watch the whole tape as I didnt have work the next day. She'd put Taytos & a few other Irish snacks in with it. Lovely memories. Old Bullseye & Play your cards right etc are on in the afternoon. I never watch them. I'd love it if they played Glenroe again.
Don't judge this show on its final couple of seasons. In the early years it was well written and had first rate actors like Joe Lynch. It probably concentrated for too long on five main characters ( two of which were gone here) and with only a single episode a week it ran out of steam. It could have been revamped but RTE decided Fair City was the way to go.
Youghal Exile thanks for uploading this the theme tune actually makes me cry I miss Ireland alot. I'm from Limerick Foynes so close to Youghal? 😊 sorry i edited cause i spelt it wrong maybe it's Loughal im thinking of lol not sure
It seemed very rushed, RTE should have extended the last episode to an hour, the state broadcaster lost alot of interest in the rural soap in its final years.
Nigel Murphy I understand it was popular, but with all due respect, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t made on pennies when many employees in that organisation were making pounds they didn’t deserve
You will never see a show like this again. Simpler times in a lot of ways.
Miley's last line was his catchphrase
Bedtime for anyone
Please god the last day for fair shity will come soon
Thats the only heap of shite thats keeping rte afloat. Why push the boat when the ship is sinking.
Bring back some memories if we have don't something bad my mum wouldn't let watch this programme
Brings a tear to your eye. God be with them all. They were the highlight of our weekends when we were kids
My dad and mum love glenroe day have passed 😞 so sad 😞

So many gone. Sadly missed
It was good when it was character driven but when they began to turn it into a soap it was never as good.
Yes. Alan Stanford actually said the same thing and thats one reason why he left the show
Great memories loved Sunday night.
Ireland had changed and there was no place for this kind of show anymore. It was a sad goodbye. I remember watching this with my aunt and uncle.

Wish they had made a continuation of this. I loved Glenroe, it started the year I was born. We are missing a good rural drama on rté.
They wouldn't have got away with a joke like that at around the 24 minute mark nowadays that's how sensitive people have become.
Funny how the most sensitive people I ever see are the ones moaning that "you can't say anything these days". . .
I think Miley probably returned to Bracken... perhaps he did and retired there.
Holee fock . It was cringe , off the reichter scale. Earlier episodes written by Wesley Burrows were the classics

Fair City what a terrible replacement 😢
Fair city was on the TV at the same time this was on
But rte decided to up the episodes of Fair City a week rather than keep them both going
Fairshitty
Wasn’t someone from Glenroe was on fair city too
Lots of them are or have been in Fair City. Jane, Pete, Mary to name a few.
End of an era

Wow this was terrible for a last episode..........
I wonder did they know it was the last when it was being made.
@@brendang8177 yes, as this was filmed after the annoucement of Glenroe's axing in January 2001.

Should be banned from viewing, not enough diversity.
Diversity sucks
😂😂😂
This show was a cheap piece of RTE rubbish
not back in the day it wasn't. Was huge back there.
Nigel Murphy I understand it was popular, but with all due respect, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t made on pennies when many employees in that organisation were making pounds they didn’t deserve
It’s not as bad as the other piece of rte cheap rubbish - fair city
P T thats a fair point too 😂
DUDE intellectual shit is going down bro ... Like FUK 🤣
That random joke about the son being gay? Lol. What was the point of that in the final moment of the show? Random 😅
