it's because for some reason whenever you skid with neo sonic he gains a huge ammount of speed, so if you keep skidding you'll eventually reach neo sonic max speed and you'll maintain that max speed as long as you keep skidding and as far as i know this is only possible with the XMomentum addon, if you try to do it without the addon sonic will not gain that huge speed
